#bajacalifornianorte
There are lots of great things to do in Baja Norte. We were excited for our friends to join us at Alisitos K58 campground on the Pacific coast. Join us as we catch up with our friends, surf and then head inland to explore the wine country of Valle de Guadalupe.

    Danny thanks for watching! Funny thing is- I don’t really surf either! This was the first time back in the water in over 2 years but with such an opportunity to surf in this beautiful spot with our friends I couldn’t resist! Expect more water sports over the next few months- though more SUP and kayaking than surfing! Thanks again!

Also nice to see you all giving back... my only critique it's get that damn drone a little higher to see some more wider vistas....😁 otherwise guys nice to see more truck campers on KZread since that will be what we are hitting the road with next year... keep on keeping on.... thanks guys!

    Question for you also.... What did you guys do for cell service ? Did you get a sim / prepaid phone for Mexico or did you call your provider and switch your plan. If you guys could maybe do a video on that.... or just answer this question... lol.

    Do you need the original title to the truckcamper or is a copy ok at border? Thanks. My Arctic Fox has a bill of sale that’s it .

  • @CalledToWander

    @CalledToWander

    Brian Senft Truck campers don’t tend to have titles. Our Lance 845 only had a manufacturer number. This made it hard to explain to our insurance company in the US, but it definitely made it easier to cross into Baja. We came through Tecate as it is notoriously friendly to truck camper and RVs in general and we didn’t have to show any paperwork, other than our passportof course when we got our FMM... if you have any other trailer RV with title I assume it would be best to have the original title tucked away and then have a copy ready to present if you are asked to show it. But only time we heard that matters is if there’s an accident. We keep copies of everything laminated and in our center console. Thus far we’ve not been asked to show any documentation of any kind as we’ve traveled- though we have had our rig inspected several times at military checkpoints.

    Nice campground how much does cost for the spot?

  • @CalledToWander

    @CalledToWander

    4 жыл бұрын

    Stellar P. Prices are always subject to change and negotiation! But at our time of visiting the cost was 200 pesos, roughly $11 per night. We negotiated down to 150 pesos, $9 per night, as we stayed multiple nights and had our friends with us during a slow week (and small surf). We used the extra 50 pesos per night to buy food for people affected by the fires. So you can expect around 200 pesos or so on average.

    We didn't notice much noise at Alisitos. The highway runs along the ridge behind you, but we didn't notice the noise at all. I'm sure if you look for it you'll hear it. But too many beautiful things distracting us! =)

    Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. Just a question for you, looks like you have your bikes mounted on the ladder.. Are you using just a normal ladder rack? Is it easy to lock the bikes up? Also, do you normally mount them there or use your front hitch? Wife and I are building up our truck/camper now so looking at different bike mount options and even full size spare tire options. Thanks!

  • @CalledToWander

    Thanks for watching! And great question! So we used to carry our bikes on the front, with our wench tucked away in the backseat. We were traveling through the US and Canada and were quite conservative in our off-road adventures. But then we were thinking the obvious, what good is a wench in the backseat??!! So we purchased a lightweight and relatively well-rated ladder rack so we could move the bikes to the back and hook our wench up front... as we anticipate we'll both do more adventurous activities in Baja and beyond and will also likely need to help out a fellow traveler or two along the way. Now the wench is secure in front, the bikes are great in the back and we opened our backseat up to build a throne for our sweet princess of a pup, Everest! To the security question, thus far we have had no issue with securing the biked. The rack we purchased (and recommend) comes with two straps to secure it to the ladder. Then when the bikes are on I added our own third strap to tie the bikes together and then secure them to the ladder (they were doing a lot of bouncing before this). Then, of course, we threw on two different locks (one permanently on the ladder for the bikes and the second one we take with us riding through town) and feel very comfortable with both the security TO the camper and the security FROM theft. Here's the ladder rack we recommend: amzn.to/37IbkbY

    El Valle RV Park - Pherla ("Pearl-a") is the owner and is super nice and speaks great English. $25 US (450 mx). This is the going rate for Valle area parks. A perk is that it's a short walk downhill to Dona Esthella's for breakfast! elvallervpark.com/

    @@gusojeda514 I don't know if we over-exaggerated "best on the planet" but it was fantastic as you could taste the corn in the corn in the pancakes that gave them that extra over-the-top breakfast experience. Plus you could see the other animals they were incorporating into breakfast hanging out in the farm behind the restaurant so you know everything is fresh. And with Anthony Bourdain raves about it, well, it may be the best on the planet!
