Over the last couple moths of 2023, the Sacramento Southern railroad at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, CA ran their annual Polar Express train! I've always known about this train but never got the chance to see it as living in Bakersfield is a wee bit far from Sacramento. Now that I am in Davis, it is only a 15 minute train ride on Amtrak to go Sac. I went and saw this train run on numerous different occasions which brought together this awesome compilation of the operations of the Polar Express. This was definitely a must see as their power is an old SP E9 locomotive and a WP F7 locomotive. One of the times I was railfanning here, the WP 913 couldn't recover from PCS open so they had to swap it out for the trusty SSRR 2030. Thankfully, they fixed the issue later on and it was back to the SP and WP. The train runs from the old Sacramento depot in Old Town Sac out about eight miles to the "North Pole" where they would then turn back to Sac.
