Love the sound of CS&N They were one of the folk rock supergroups of the 60's-70's. I had the album this song "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" came out on. It is full of great songs such as "Marrakesh Express", "Helplessly Hoping", "Wooden Ships" etc. Another great album is "Deja Vu" where Neil Young joined them. It has other hit songs such as "Teach Your Children", "Woodstock", "Carry On" & "Our House".

Thank you so much for doing this. So glad you enjoyed it!! Stephen Stills, in the middle with the guitar, wrote this for his then girlfriend Judy Collins who was also a famous singer.

The word "suite" (pronounced like "sweet") has a couple meanings. In a hotel, if you rent a suite it means it has more than one room unlike just a standard hotel room. The meaning in music is similar. It means it has different parts to the song. This particular "suite" has 3 or four different sections which have different tempos and chord progressions.

I grew up with their music. The warm soundtrack of my life. Thank you for sharing your enthusiastic reaction. Some other songs worth your ears are Guinevere, Lady of the Island, Carry On, Wooden Ships. Please yourself by listening to the whole album, and their second: "Déjà Vu". The solo albums by Graham Nash, Stephen Stills and David Crosby are also great.

Anybody my age knows all the words. An anthem to us all praising the simpler days. Just so you know it was released in 69! I'm getting old.

They were all established stars in their own right, before they got together. It was Englishman Nash who realised the potential of their voices blending.

Yes, it was Mama Cass from the Mamas and the Papas that suggested Graham meet Stephen and David. The two played a song together, and Graham asked to play it again. He joined in with his voice, and they realised the were a perfect fit. Graham Nash left his UK band The Hollies, and the three went on together from there.

On your own listen to the album, Crosby Stills Nash, then listen to “Déjà vu”, Crosby Stills Nash & Young. Every song on both albums are great.

The " drum " sound is one of them tapping on the body of an acoustic guitar , and the last part is their love letter to Cuban music .

It is a masterpiece, you are right. It is a "suite" in that it is a series of songs and their voices together even surprised them. They were all front leads of other succesful rock groups and here they are together as a super group that thrilled us!

Sometimes they're Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; sometimes they're just Crosby, Stills and Nash. For this particular version of the song (the studio recording version from the album), they're Crosby, Stills and Nash. But they did perform this same song at Woodstock 1969 as Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. So sometimes they're a quartet. But most times, they're a trio.

Crosby, Stills, and Nash, "SUITE JUDY BLUE EYES". Considered the Beatles of the 70's. Myself, let's just say. No comparison is needed. Both were great. Their is a very groovy Live video of them performing this song at the WOODSTOCK concert in 1969. As Steven Stills told it. This was the 2nd time that they performed Live in front of an audience. That to me, speaks volumes of what kind of professional musicians they had become. You spoke highly of their harmonizing. They all came from separate bands. Stephen Stills, from "Buffalo Springfield". David Crosby, from "The Byrds". Graham Nash, from "The Hollies". Then wow did those voices belong together. More... "HELPLESSLY HOPING", "CARRY ON", "WOODEN SHIPS", "WOODSTOCK", "TEACH YOUR CHILDREN" "LONG TIME GONE" "HELPLESS", "ALMOST CUT MY HAIR", "DEJA VU".

Aww Sarah, you struck gold with this incredible piece, and your enthusiasm was contagious! 😁😇🌹 It's funny how, in performance, artists convey this sense of being wonderful people but, in life, they can be.... disagreeable. I always admired CSN and found Stephen Stills guitar technique fascinating. Back in the late 60s, it was customary for the rising recording artists to gather in New York City's Washington Square park and play music together, just jam and swap ideas. Being younger, but a developing guitar player in my own right, I used to sit a polite distance apart and play along. On one occasion, there was a good crowd of musicians including Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, Judy Collins, Stephen Stills, and a few others. I was in heaven, playing along and keeping up with the others. Out of nowhere, Stills came bombing over to me and kicked my guitar right out of my hands and destroying it. My older cousin was nearby watching, and was furious! He and Dave VanRonk grabbed Stills and along with a couple of the other guys, beat the crap out of Stills. My cousin then grabbed Stills expensive guitar (mine was a valuable guitar as well), gave me Stills guitar. Van Ronk grabbed a garbage can and proceeded to stuff it onto Stills head, lollllll. Even David Crosby had a history of getting arrested on gun and narcotics charges, bringing contraband aboard commercial aircraft. I'll always be loyal to their music, but they were never exactly angels. 👼👼

CSN and CSNY (with Neil Young) had an enormous string of hits that spanned many years. Seeing both versions live in concert are some of my greatest memories. You can't go wrong listening and reacting to their songs, might I suggest their protest song Ohio, about the students killed during a protest at Kent State on May 4, 1970. Powerful song written by Neil Young.

This comes from a album of superb numbers, "Marrakesh Express" among them. "Teach Your Children Well" (a Stephen Stills song) is also very well worth a listen. Keep up your musical education, it is a delight to be a part of it.

Very few reviewers listen to the words and understand this is about the painful breakup of Steve Stills’ relationship. Most just see it a just nice harmonies. Such a shame.

If you liked this then you really should listen to the Foxes and Fossils cover from 12 years ago - kzread.info/dash/bejne/hWZnuK1qppzKcps.html. This group was started by Tim - the man in the center when he wanted to sing with his daughter Sammie, the tall blonde, while she was in high school (about age 15). Tim then got her friend Maggie to join. This song was the very first song in their very first show and now has over 4.4 million views. Graham Nash even sent Tim an email complementing them on how great this was. Foxes and Fossils now has almost 80 million views on KZread of covers from various artists. They are still producing new cover videos.
