Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev is the recipient of the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of ESL One Cologne by HLTV.org and betway.
The Natus Vincere star capped off a fantastic individual tournament with a 1.26 rating in the grand final against BIG, a series he finished with a +23 KDD.
This is the seventh MVP award of s1mple's career, the fifth since the start of the year after he also won the accolade at StarSeries Seasons 4 and 5, DreamHack Masters Marseille and at the CS:GO Asia Championships.

Aleksandr 's1mple' Kostyliev is a Ukrainian professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player. He currently plays for Natus Vincere.
Oleksandr 's1mple' Kostylev is known to be one of the most talented Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players from his region, if not on the entire global scale. Despite being first known as a paramount rifler, he began to showcase his amazing potential with the sniper rifles in Amazing Gaming and HellRaisers.
Having started his career in the game in 2013 with Ukrainian team LAN DODGERS, he was discovered in early 2014 after his impressive showings online especially on StarSeries IX for team Courage Gaming. Due to internal issues, however, Kostlyev parted company with the ex-Courage squad and returned to the DODGERS team that later became Amazing Gaming.
In mid-September 2014, s1mple saw his career elevate to a new height as he signed for team HellRaisers, joining stars like Dosia and markeloff. In his time in HR, his first international achievement happened at DreamHack Winter 2014, beating fnatic in the group stage 16-14, which led to surprising win of the whole group. Their DHW run ended in the quarter-finals as they were dominantly beaten by Ninjas in Pyjamas, losing the series 2-0.
HellRaisers parted ways with s1mple about two months later, with the main reason for the decision being s1mple's ban from ESL tournaments (a notably harsh blow to his potential due to two majors organized by ESL in 2015). His ban has finally expired on February 1, 2016.
s1mple then joined the predominantly Ukrainian Flipsid3 Tactics team. Due to his aforementioned ESL ban, players like DavCost and CyberFocus were often seen standing-in for him in events managed by ESL. He left the squad on July 17, 2015 following internal problems, and later announced that he would be going inactive for the time being. However, he took a sudden U-turn to this decision only a few days later as it was announced that he would join the revamped roster of Evolution, which later rebranded to Evolution.Dark. His Evolution.Dark story didn't last long as Evolution released whole "Dark" squad after a month. However, the players would keep playing together under name of Worst Players.
Just a few weeks later, it was announced that s1mple was going to stand-in for his former team, HellRaisers, which had been looking for the fifth player after the surprising departure of Dosia.Two weeks later HellRaisers attended DreamHack Stockholm 2015, which was a qualifier for upcoming Major, DreamHack Cluj Napoca 2015. The team failed to qualify despite being a big favorite for a Major spot, as they lost to Titan eSports 1:2 in the winners match, and then were upset by Vexed Gaming losing 1:2, which they had defeated just a day before 2:0.
s1mple became good friends with Hiko while Hiko was playing as a stand in for Flipsid3 Tactics, who would later go on to recruit him to Team Liquid, sacrificing his university course in the process. Team Liquid, with s1mple and Hiko would go on to make it to the semi-finals of MLG Major Championship: Columbus. At the same major, s1mple was chosen for the NA vs EU All-Star Game on the NA side which would go on to win the match in overtime. s1mple was awarded the All-Star MVP.

Enoch Annor 1) s1mple has 5 mvp in a row, world clutch record, best k/d in 2017 and 2018 so far, most kills with awp in the 2017 and 2018 so far. S1mple is first player in cs go history who won mpv in the losing team (and he made this twice). Every pro player or analysts considers S1mple the best player in the world right now (you can search it. There are few videos when pro's talking about who is best player in the world). 2) If we talking about consistency i think s1mple is amazingly consistent player. 3 years in a row he had amazing stats even he is played in new team. Even if this team had not so good players like sk. Look at cold in 2018. He has a lot bad games. Really bad games. Like that game against Navi 2 month ago. S1mple had 95-64 k/d on three maps. And sk and cold was destroyed (cold played well on inferno tho). 3) Trophies is another topic. 2 last years SK has better overall roster and teamplay than Navi. Fallen >>> Zeus. Fer >>> Edward. S1mple must to carry his team a lot harder than cold. S1mple can't win every game by himself. Trophies wins good teams, not players. 2 years ago Navi played really bad because of roster changes. Last year Navi played a lot better but still not so good because of another roster changes. And in 2018 Navi finally has stable team. Electronic become a great player and s1mple can playing a lot more comfortable. 4) S1mple and Nico have the best aim in the world, not cold. S1mple is a lot better with awp and deagle than cold. S1mple clutches better than cold (s1mple had world clutch record). If we are talking about raw skill, then cold will not be in the top 3. 5) "When s1mple tried to knife coldzera and coldzera got mad he actually talked to him after the game to apologize. Do you think s1mple would do that with any other player?" - that part is so funny. S1mple thinks niko and kennys are the best in the world, not cold. But of course he respects coldzera. 6) "S1mple is going to go through a slump soon just like every other godlike player while coldzera is going to be consistently putting up numbers". S1mple is already three years in a row steadily destroing all opponents. He everytime playing amazing because of his godlike skills. And how you can talk about "coldzera is going to be consistently putting up numbers" if sk just losing every tournament they played and cold is bottom fragger most of the time?

Spectating is different than what the players actually see. There were a couple points where you could see examples of him moving too fast for the recording to keep up as well. It’s the same thing basically. He’s too fast for the recording to keep up
