    Maybe you could make a video contrasting Liquid 2019 with Astralis 2018 and Navi 2021, and what they were lacking compared to these two teams. Since Liquid had 4 stars and a fragging igl, which is even more than Navi. In terms of fragging, they were only really lacking an AWP.

    I think fact that they were from NA(bootcamp there) when they cant get decant sparring partners as much as they needed. ps. ofc i didnt follow them and maybe they were more then 60% in EU, but imo you need at least 50% time play with the best/equal to keep your ground and progress. +maybe NA cs is more relax and dont train as much as EU , and correct if Im wrong but only time when NA won was Cloud9 on America against Faze :D (doesnt speak about mibr because its South America and 2015 cs was close to beta imo, when you watch how they played back then :)

    Impossible to just "GO KILL" in 2021 csgo. The games are really becoming chess matches instead of just who can frag better. If s1mple did things in 2021 like he did in 2018, I argue that he would actually be a liability to the tactical integrity of his team. The man was, and still is, just insane. The impressive aspect is seeing his evolution to maintain his high impact. When s1mple has a "BAD" game, it's not really a bad game. It's average. But most of the time he's either 1 or 2 on the team in terms of impact. 2021 NaVi is so good due to the fact that if s1mple has on of his more "NORMAL" games, his teammates pick up the slack. They always had the raw skill and it's finally being implemented properly with good tactical play.

If I were to speculate and read into it even more I'd say he has just come to terms with himself and realized he doesn't need to prove anything. He has proven enough in fact. "while I think he's still capable of doing most or all of what he did, in 2018 he actually did do it." That is a good point! The discrepancy in skill among the whole 2018 NaVi line-up eventually got so bad that they lost to a #29 ranked Heroic in early 2019, failing to qualify for the EPL Season 9 finals. I remember how shocked everyone was when a #2 ranked NaVi lost to a team that far below them, but considering it was really only S1mple doing any amount of serious damage in that whole series, it's not hard to see why they lost in what may have been the biggest upset of that year.

    I find this topic really interesting in general, 2 things I want to put forward slightly in favor of 2021 s1mple. In general I tend to think 2021 s1mple could not carry 2018 NAVI as hard as 2018 s1mple did, and 2018 s1mple would not lead to quite as dominant of a world number 1 as 2021 s1mple is. But ok, here we go 2021 s1mple, 2 points. 1. 2021 s1mple is way way better against really tactical teams. This was kinda his weakness in 2017, where his lower playoff stats that resulted in his #8 placement on HLTV basically came because they kept playing Astralis and North in playoffs. 2018 s1mple was good against tactical teams, better than anyone not called s1mple, but was not ultra consistent, like he was against loose teams like Moussports. 2021 s1mple on the other hand, absolutely shits on tactical teams to a degree no player ever has. He is better at playing around utility, his understanding of the macro game and rotations is better, he is way more un counterable. 2. 2021 s1mple seems mentally stronger. 2018 s1mple was again still better than anyone not named s1mple in Grand Finals and high pressure matches, but was quiet more often than he was in quarter final or group stage games. 2021 s1mple is seeminly completely immune to pressure, and if anything actually thrives under it and plays even better. So for example I think if you throw 2021 s1mple into the Faceit Major final, he probably is super impactful, and doesn't have a quiet game. (I actually think the other "quiet" grand final from 2018 s1mple was not actually him playing worse, but just being on eco constantly. This was Epicenter against Faze) Anyway, I think this is an interesting topic, largely because there are strong cases either way. And I basically stand by my assessment that neither could do better than what the other did.

    I agree with the majority what did you wrote @Jake Bishop, and overall interesting. As voo said: 2018 navi had 2 superstars where s1mple had 1+0.5 of himself +0.5 of electronic. 2021 navi was (and imo 2022 seems continue 2021: lose against mibr, but anyway getting to iem even losing 2 times) ''you shoot how good you can, we gonna win you by %" because they have 3 stars with gameplay where nobody of them need to over perform so you can't expect who gonna kill you and make anti strats because you can avoid s1mple but you cant avoid 3players (+b player/clutcher perfecto and decant captain who more play like scout/agressive with mp9 and donate to 3 players of his team).

    Ceh9 from old school NaVi actually analyzed the 2018 vs 2021 s1mple's stats and concluded that in 2018 he had more multiple kill rounds, but also no kill rounds. So in 2018 he had to literally kill half of enemy team alone to win the round.

    The comparison isn't was he better then or now. Difference is that 2018 he was trying / had to try win matches on his own because the team didn't have the same firepower / strategy as they do now. Now often you see him not repeek an opponent because risk reward isn't there and he just lets someone else make a play from elsewhere before taking more contact.

  • @hiimroo3120

    I think he has had to tactically change as a player. The meta is so much harsher and evolved now and yet he still manages to read utility and the game and play around it. I think that the s1mple we get in 2021 is a much higher skill ceiling. Now there are other players that have raw aim similar to 2018 s1mple but they have nowhere near the impact because they can't free space for themselves to do it. You see players in 2018 frag clips and you can clearly say what a dumb play when you should do this. Astralis were tactical gods because they work out some nade combos for banana. It was just a different time where it was easy to just frag out

  • @unculturedswine5583

    @unculturedswine5583

    Yeah, frankly, even if it isn't the whole reason, the most likely reason is probably just that teams nowadays are just much better, i think gla1ve said in an interview that during the astralis era, two things that separated them from other teams was obviously better tactics and as importantly still, while they might not have had the number one player in the world, the fact that they were the only team filled with only great players, and that that has now changed. The fact that s1mple is still so op now might as well just mean that he has improved but its hidden by the scene itself maturing and i guess that means s1mple himself might still keep getting better lol Tho of course i might totally be wrong but it does make sense and is something pros bring up, about basically the powercreep in the pro scene

    S1mple is the GOAT, most consistant player we have ever seen, every match he plays he does something insane, Niko at one point was a little better than him, but overall, there is no close 2nd to him
