Being a black woman raised in the dirty south. I went to all white high school n had great exposure to country music. Few people knew that Crystal was the sister of the great Loretta Lynn n she was one of the most beautiful brunettes that I'd ever seen!!

I wasn't a big fan of country, but I LOVED this song, and I loved HER . . .her voice is just simply honey in vapour form . . . and no, I had no idea she was the sister of Loretta Lynn . . reminds me of other songs that I loved . . .like Piano In The Dark . . . remember that? Little gems that may have been one-hit wonders, but man, were they wonders. Even Whitney Houston; that first hit song "Saving All My Love" . . . in fact, that's amazingly similar to this one! I loved that one, but lost interest after she became famous. Then there's Sara Bareilles' "Not A Love Song" . . . let me know if you ever listen to those tunes, and tell me if you liked them!

Back in 78" I was working graveyard shift at our local diner. The dinning room was closed and dark and it was just me and another girl working the front. It was around 3AM and i had just finished cleaning up the coffee urns and was wiping down the counter when this song came on the jukebox. I sang along as i was wiping ,without a customer in sight. Its a memory ill never forget,it just seemed so perfect. Ah to be young!😊😊😊

Crystal Gayle was the whole package ... naturally stunningly beautiful, smooth vocals, & the movements to match.

I just looked at the video again, though, and another one about her lovely hair and an interview and okay, she's gorgeous, and pleasant as well. I am probably envious, lol. She's sort of a one-hit wonder tho I always liked that song; still think her sister's more talented but no need to compare; it's a gifted family.

David Urban .....that’s the best description of men, PERIOD! That is THE prettiest woman I’ve ever seen and I’m a 83 year old woman. Ohhhhhh and that VOICE!......sigh......

This was a time when a woman didn't need a huge rump to be considered "beautiful" or "talented". Crystal was/is absolutely drop-dead GORGEOUS, with the voice of an angel. She is without equal, imho, and, that hair!! Absolutely stunning and so very talented. I've never seen another performer quite like her. 🌺

Never knowing her before,I was struck by her voice while watching Tara Simon react to the CMA 2019 you referenced and had to ask who she was. A crooner and a technically song sound singer indeed. She didn't sing in the usual twang-y style of country singers.

I remember in the early eighties, Crystal and Kenny Rogers was on tour together. Crystal sung this song and a few others for us employees. She is sure amazing to say the least, love this song. Thank you Crystal

I just heard this song on in my Jeep and as soon as I got home looked for the video I'm so glad that our local country station plays music like this.

Was 11 when this song came out and still listen to this song to this day..it's on my playlist..

I first saw Crystal Gayle in Jacksonville, NC in 1991. I still have a crush on her almost 30 years later.

Ms. Gayle is one of those rare, stand-alone talents that combines rich tonal range, exquisite control, and a unique interpretive style that reveals the soul of a poet. Then she makes it seem effortless. In a word, Angelic.

Casually stop on in to listen to this beautiful song, didn't expect to see Andy Gibb presenting the song in this video. Now my brown eyes are really Blue!! So long ago but went so quick.

This is one of those songs that I can't imagine ever being sung by anyone but her. There is something so indescribably beautiful and emotional about the way she almost whispers "my brown eyes" toward the end.

When I was 14 yrs old. I was into disco-( Donna Summers) then I heard this song on radio station. Crystal Gayle' s hit song.. Wow never in my life did I think country music could sound like this.. Throwback: Growing up in Maine listening to country music and way before hair extensions even existed, Crystal Gayle was my hair idol. My kid goal was to have hair as long as hers. Watch this and admire her beautiful hair (and voice).

The answer would be a resounding "NO!" As far as having 'hair as long as' Crystal Gayle is concerned: That is extremely unlikely to occur. One's terminal length is determined by his or her genetic code. Gayle has what is often referred to as "10 Year Hair", that is, her hair(s) remains in the growth phase of what is a cyclical process for 10+ years whereas the average person's scalp hair remains in said phase for, typically, 3 to 5 years. Being that human scalp hair grows at a rate of one half inch per month(that would be 6 inches a year) and varies little if at all from individual to individual , the 'average person' reaches, if they are lucky and avoid other natural and environmental influences that can negatively impact maximum length potential, a head of hair of between 18 and 30 inches -granted they don't cut it at some arbitrarily chosen time during the period in which the overwhelming majority of their hairs are in the aforementioned growth phase.

My mum played this a lot when I was little I always looked at Crystal Gayle and thought how beautiful she is and she still is today and voice so very beautiful🌷♥️🌷♥️🌷♥️💐💐

My Grandparents lived right there in the hollow or on the ridge when Loretta was a young woman and Crystal was a small child. My Grandparents would go to the Grand Ole Opera quite often , my Grandma dressed to the 9's in glittery western outfits. You would have thought she was married to Porter Wagner. They always had VIP seats and rubbed elbows with all the legends. Anyhow in 1978 my GP's took me to Camden Park in West Virginia on Memorial Day weekend. I was 12 yrs old. Crystal was performing. I watched the show and at the end you could stand in line on the one side of a chain link fence for autographs or just briefly talk. So me and Grandma stood in line. Now me not knowing any of the history of her and my GP's , it was our turn to talk to her. Right off Crystal says " Macel , where have you been and who is this good looking young man that's with you? Grandma says this is my oldest grandchild. Crystal then says get over this fence and give me a hug and a kiss. You bet I did. A memory I will never forget. Same year at my county fair , Jim Ed Brown and Helen Cornelius performed. After the show they went out a back door of the small stage. Me and my buddy ran around back as they stepped right into a bed of a pick-up truck cause it was muddy. Helen says right off " Hey good looking what's your name. I told her and she says get up her and give me a kiss. I did , you bet and got her and Jim's autographs.. I was 12 yrs old.

They just don't come any better looking and better sounding than this.....

Talk about a gorgeous woman, damn!

We use to like this many years ago..brings back memories.

After hearing a few songs she sang in the early to mid 70s... I liked her music....when this song came out..... Crystal Gayle became my all time favorite female singer.... still is....... but not sure if I like looking at her and watching her sing more or listening to her....Complete class, on and off the stage

This was the 1st song I heard on the radio after I got out of the hospital for viral meningitis in 1977. Always a favorite after that.

I saw her in person mid 80’s, by that time her hair was about an inch off the floor. She was beautiful with the voice of an angel.

Remember, Girl? You sang it so well. Yeah I could still cry how you little lady back in our highschool, you did, make our brown eyes blue.
