Planning to do almost exactly this except with a NESessity board and the SNES multiout. Thanks for the inspiration and thorough tutorial videos throughout the years.
one tip Id give for applying the label is get some painters tape and use that to create a guide so you can view if the logo is aligned a lot easier
Wife said it looks like one of those 90’s wall phones we all had/wanted.
It looks really great with that logo on the front. Love this.
Yeah wow, that was the first thought i had when seeing that clear shell! it's just wow right :D. They did an awesome job making it!

Yeah it’s exactly what I was hoping for when I purchased it!
That is nuts!
I think no bottom labels looks neat, you can see the PCBs. :D

What if they had the text but were clear as well?
Nice NES! Lukparts makes some nice emblems for a variety of restoration projects and RGRs shells really are top notch.

Yeah I am a big fan of his shop - purchased a bunch of stuff from him in the past
Looks coool! I think a continuous black stripe with the top grill also being black would make it look better

Fair enough, I was thinking about that as well
That's awesome. I put my modded OG Xbox in a clear shell. I also installed a bunch of orange LEDs. I also have several NESs. I'd love to put one in a clear case.
Nice overview! I'm doing a very similar build with the clear shell, a NESessity board I've built last year and I even got the same controller shells 😊.

Same boat, but for the NESessity board. Can't wait!
I did this with my snes. It's a nice change to a very yellowed shell. Just need a logo for it now.

The same guy makes excellent snes logos as well
Congrats on a beautiful project! I would definitely look at one of those clear shells if I had a busted shell on my old NES. Definitely needs clear rubber feet to complete the effect! :)

Thanks so much! I did find replacement rubber feet and that definitely makes it better
I built a arcade stick controller for my NES. It is in a clear case. Would look awesome paired with a clear NES.
I’d have to add some red and blue LED’s to light up the insides of the case. Maybe put them on a small toggle switch.
If you can get clear bottom labels like the NES door logo, I'd say go for it, but otherwise leave those spots open to see the internals.
Thats awesome, I wish i would have had one of yjose shells when i repaired a nes I got last summer. The shell i had was busted up and missing pieces, took a week of designing psrts and bodywork to get it looking good again. I was missing the cartridge tray so i ended up designing a new one, I et if it was printed in transparent resin it would look great in the transparent shell.

Fortunately you can still get these shells if you want one for your console
Could find some reproduction labels to put on the bottom shell and later retrobrite the original shell still using the original labels.
@LIRetroGaming
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I do plan to get that original shell retrobrited
You should make replicas of the labels for the bottom, preferably with clear backing. I believe 8bitguy has a video about remaking labels for cartridges and I assume it would be the same for the console.

Yeah, I think I’m leaning towards going in that direction

+1 on this, I'd say recreating them would be the best way to go.
I have a guy that makes holographic labels for my console mods, all of my transparent consoles get holo labels and metallic logos.
Nice! I want one :D
Faria um sleeve nestes cabos, ficaria super discreto e bem bonito dentro, essa case da RGR é top demais.
I think you should at least do some of the replacement NES console stickers. I don't know if you can get replacements for all of them but I know some are available.
Freakn awesome! *checks account for new project funds*
Epic! Build Sir, but what I was wondering is how much would You charge to make a clear plastic NES Classic Shell?

You can actually purchase them here retrogamerestore.com/product-category/transparent-shells/
Those clear shells are so cool. I have considered taking on this same project, but with a custom transparent paint job. Only thing I can't decide on is to make the paint totally custom, or paint it with transparent paint colored close to the original in the same color scheme.

There are plenty of options that you could take, but it certainly fun when the project is finished and you can enjoy it
Wow! Didn't realize it had a cutout for the NESRGB cut!

Yeah, it makes things very easy
Just wait, maybe in 10ore years we will have a battery and charger port solution to let us mod old controllers to have wireless Bluetooth in og hardware. It would be so cool to start saving the controllers as well. Even if just for that retro nostalgia. These are the muscle cars of my generation... lol

you can make your og snes controls wireless all ready
This is awesome. Does leaving off the RF shielding cause any problems?
@LIRetroGaming
Жыл бұрын
No, it operates the same without the shield and there is no noticeable change in video/audio
theres a project colled usb nes probly better option in that case with a rasberry pie for hdmi
looks great, but if you put a translucid loader will be even better
@LIRetroGaming
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that would be a nice way to do it as well
Looks nice but the oem gray power/reset buttons looks out of place. Too bad there aren't any clear buttons for them.
@LIRetroGaming
Жыл бұрын
Yeah I would prefer clear buttons as well
Wouldn't you want to use clear labels on the bottom like the one on the front?
@LIRetroGaming
Жыл бұрын
Yeah that would work. I would probably have to make them myself since no one designs them yet
Someone should remix or skeletonize the cartridge tray so you can see more of the nes board
@LIRetroGaming
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it would be really cool to have some kind of modified cartridge tray in there as well
Is there anywhere you can get the nesrgb power board? The ebay link shows as "ended" and the seller has no items

I apologize as I can only make so many due to costs and time. If you still need one, let me know and I will hook you up.
I built the NESessity and I cant get past a grey screen and one of the ram chips gets scorching hot. I would love some help from you sorting this thing out. Already emailed you a few weeks ago.

Yes I remember that. The shop is open again so I can help
That's cool. They made a new build of the NES board. Why not integrate RGB in it as well on the board. Maybe HDMI. Whatever. Has anyone remade the pin connector so the cart works every time. Hope someone does. Id replace mine. The ebay one i got wasn't to good ether. Maybe make it affordable as well. I think ill get the case. The snes case i got is kinda yellowed. Just grabbed it quick because it was $50. didn't' even know about the different chips. I think it's the worse of the one's. The rgb is still a bit blurry. Whatever really.
any word on when these are shipping out?
@LIRetroGaming

I believe that all of the shipments should be completed by the end of may. I’m still waiting for one more shell

another 100 buck shell swap? when are they going to learn that at that pricepoint, they are only going to sell 3 of them. guys, i can buy a gdemu for less than that. until these hit 20 buck, they aren't going to be a thing. i'll mount my motherboard in a shoebox before i pay a premium for a shabby repro. you know they show up with blemishes out of the box and parts that need to be dremelled off. you're crazy at 100 buck, do you have any idea what i can build for 100 buck? my last custom arcade stick costed me around 40, i can sell it for 300. what's a clear nes go for? it would have to be worth 400, minimum, for this to be worth it, and i'm pretty sure they're not worth anything close to that. sht, i bet i can build a custom case out of acrylic for 20, hard pass.
