True Crysis story. The game was impressive back in 2007. I'd just booted it up and was on the beach in the opening scene. My wife walked in the room and I showed her the graphics. I explained you could interact with everything. At that moment, a turtle was walking by. I duly picked up the turtle. Then I realized I had no idea how to "drop" rather than "throw" to put it down again. I ended up launching this completely harmless turtle across the map and smashing it into a rock! My wife shook her head and walked away :-D Dead turtles aside, it was a great game even with its well known problems. I can't believe they screwed it up a second time.

    @arnox4554

    3 жыл бұрын

Ok, it is pretty damn weird that they removed leaning in the Remastered version, but I'm just gonna say it. You don't need to lean in Crysis. The way the suit modes are designed (at least on normal difficulty) is quite good, and with Speed mode, you can wreck some shit. Fucking hell, the Cloak mode alone is pretty much an "I win" button. If you need leaning to win skirmishes on top of all the other tools you're given in the game, most notably the suit powers of course, I don't think you have any business playing Crysis. This isn't Insurgency Sandstorm. Not that it excuses all the other bullshit that's going on with this game that I quite agree with Mack about though. Fuck the Epic Games Store.

its a 2007 PC game, is a miracle it support xbox 360 gamepad and rumble, i have a original xbox 360 controller and a wireless adapter, it works ok, xbox one controller (third gen with BT) works with rumble, the only problem is the configuration, LT is circle of options of the nano, LB is sprint, RB is ADS and RT is the classic fire, autoaim is light, not so agresive like a call of duty game, the remastered is the port of 360 version, so it has a more "modern button" placement and less setup to nano (no circle of options), strengh is auto, and cloak is one button away (i don't renember if is LB or RB), sprint always full speed and also in auto and placed in L3 (like a call of duty or halo game).

Yeah, just beefing up texture res and adding software raytracing (lul? no wonder it runs at low double digit frames) and putting a high-CPU-load copy-protection mechanism on top just doesn't do it justice. They might remove Denuvo once the market settles around it and sales stagnate. That might add a few frames, but not alleviate the other issues. They're a bit too proud of their meme baby to really care for it like the first-born of an epic IP, which it is.

Vegetation physics now at proper fps. RT is even better with the Boost option. Performance is VASTLY better. It now in fact runs better than the original game with better visuals. Quick Save/Load can be implemented via console commands. Motion blur still isn't as good as the original's DX10 implementation. The CPU optimization is now divine. The game also now has DLSS2. RT is still only hardware acceleration on RTX cards. Any other card can use RT, but only in software mode.

If they thought that they could afford to slip an ironic joke in there to highlight the original's performance problems, and you still can't play the remaster properly on the lower settings, not only is it a remaster fail it's also a joke fail.

Very disappointed with this game, whats the point of having to turn off all the stuff that makes this game a viable remaster just to get it to run, you may as well just play the original. So instead of saying turn off this and that, how about "Devs fix your damn game" The recommended specs are well below my own yet it runs so badly, it's time gamers stopped turning stuff off and started refunding games and telling the devs to get their damn house in order. It's not acceptable to release a £27 game that is 13 years old that runs so badly even on a system above the recommended specs. It also has no save game, it's totally checkpoint controlled which am sure was not the case in the original, this proved so frustrating when the game crashes or you get stuck in a hole and need to reload last checkpoint. So yet again, could have been great but turned out poor, how many times do we have to say that in 2020 :(

Ooooh yeah, I remember when Crysis 1 was released, going down to the local department store @ 4a on Black Friday because they were having a huge sale at the time and greedily picked up a copy. There were a few bugs, but nothing game breaking at least until I got to the town where I was supposed to meet back up with Psycho. That was where the game broke for me. Interesting because I had a middling to hot AMD processor that was actually handling the game better than people who put together top end systems specifically to handle Crysis maxed out. Went to EA's tech site to find out what was going on and if any patches were in the works. That was when I got treated so poorly by one of their techs that to this day I absolutely refuse to buy any new releases or pre-releases of ANY game unless it has a healthy discount, and EA in particular a minimum 6 mo waiting period AND on sale. In short the tech I talked to basically said "The game works fine for me so you must be an idiot"! Apparently I wasn't the only one he was doing that too either. Told him to go fuck himself, that I ran a successful IT contracting service, and that EA needed to toss his happy ass to the curb right then and there. Turned out then the game was poorly optimized (where have we heard that before) and not ready for prime time. Interestingly I had a similar problem when EA released Star Wars TOR a couple of years later.

Sorry to hear you were unwell Mack & I hope your feeling better now... Now I may have dreamt this but then again I am pretty sure it was the " Game Developers " of Crysis that eventually came out & admitted a few year's after the first game was released & after the release of Crysis 2 that the only people who could get Crysis to run at its optimum best was the game developers themselves & even then they had to use some serious hardware to get this game to work properly... We come to 2020 & this game by the sounds of it (by Mack's opinion) still has issues 13 years later... WTF! In 2007 & after waiting during its ongoing development & the hype that surround Crysis this was one of thee games (apart from Half Life 1 & 2) that I was so looking forward to playing, but in the end it was the final straw that broke the camel's back for me as far as Pc Gaming was concerned... I respect whatever format any gamer plays on as I'm not a Pc or Console Zealot that backs just the Pc or only 1 Console Developer & then go on to trash talk about the other gaming formats & hope that those other consoles out there eventualy go out of business... Its juvenile & we need more than 1 or 2 gaming companies vying for our custom as it levels out the playing field with regards to product costs... Those making these comments obviously dont have a clue as to how any businees works, as that business formula also applies to the gaming industry/business & if we were to see only one company making games consoles because the rest folded & we are left with " only one developer " then they would have a monopoly on the console side of the gaming market as they have no competion to make it an even playing field with regards to the cost of console's & the game's developed for it... Back On Track After buying & changing out so many of the top & most expensive graphics & sound cards i still couldn't get Crysis to run as smooth as i wanted it to & back then these parts weren't cheap to say the least & I'm guessing they still are expensive to buy today... So I packed my Pc away as no matter what hardware I upgrade to (which was usually every 6 months to make the most recent games play) I had enough once Crysis wouldn't run that great & at that time I had a powerhouse of a Pc but it made no difference, as Crysis just wouldn't play the way I wanted it to & even after sacrificing certain aspects in the options it still was not what I wanted... To be a Pc gamer you have to be continually upgrading your hardware & this is not cheap, or it wasn't years ago, & i respect Pc Gamers for still sticking to buying ongoing hardware, then the game's & then hoping the game plays as good as you want it to but it would seem nothing had changed since 2007... I still keep eye on the Pc side of things & have considered so many times of buying yet another Pc thst would be built for predominately gaming only but I've watched so many uploads on KZread & read on Forums that Pc Gaming & Gamers are getting shafted just as much as console gamers when it comes to the state of games released on launch day... Back when Crysis was released most if not all game's worked just fine on your Pc as long as you had it up to date with the latest hardware to run the software & I could understand having problems with a game like Crysis back then as it was pushing what the Pc vould do with this game but with Current Gen Game's across all formats I've seen & bought way too many game's that have been an absolute mess when they've went on sale on their release date & instead of getting better it's either the same or in some cases worse & to make it even worse it has more or less become the New Norm... This not acceptable in this day & age... Of course we as gamer's are always going to have some issues/bugs & glitches & we except this because games developers are & should be pushing their games to the limit, except that with the with current Gen games it has become a farsical joke & I feel as if games developers do not even care anymore about what they release come a games release date... It's not as if game's developer's don't know what hardware specs most Pc gamer's will be using & on the console side I know it can take a few year's for games developers to fully come to grips with the console's that are the current ones out at that time & if anything usually as a console that is on its way out to make room for the Next Gen Console's delivers some games that are graphically amazing & play great also because the developers know how to squeeze every once of that console's ability to play games that leave us wanting more, which will of course be available on the Next Gen Console's but not with this current gen, as it's been one bug laden game after another for most game's & as gamer's we shouldn't be accepting this & we should stop paying for games that at times are a disgrace on launch date & constantly need game update patches in the hope that they'll play better... Crysis Remastered looks like another game that I will have to wait at least a year before even thinking of buying as bug riddled games which also dont not run at their best spec has become the accepted norm & it's in my opinion not on & why after decades of being a long time gamer that I won't be investing in any New Next Gen Console's, as this current gen, has consistently shown gamers that we are being taken for granted & those developers forget they have a job because of us, as we essentially pay for their wages by buying their product but somewhere across this gen standards just went out the window & to make it worse I get a feeling that many in the Gaming Industry just don't care about what we think, yet without us gamers they would cease to have a job & their development company would soon go out of business... It's up to those that will continue on to play on their PC & Next Gen Console's that will have to do something about this or it's just going to keep getting worse & the blame will now be laid at your door as you know this is happening & that its wrong... So remind them that without you the Gamer's they are literally nothing & without you they will cease to exist as an viable ongoing productive business... Its in your hands as to how modern gaming will go on & if it ends up worse than it is now then you only have yourselves to blame as you sat back & did nothing to stop all of this to continue to happen... In light of the still ongoing coronavirus outbreak stay safe and healthy wherever you are in the world... .....

Crysis 2 released in 2009 and still looks better than this lazy cash grab. They knew if it was on Steam it would flop hard so that's why it's an Epic exclusive.

And don't let moronic streamers like cohcarnage, who say that steam is just a place to reviewbomb, tell you otherwise, steam reviews are a blessing for the consumers. Even if some of them are just memes (funny ones at that) you will always find very long a thought-out review at the top of any game.

Derrick Hayden my point is, Steam and it’s actions have been the target of hate from gamers far years, but as soon as Epic announced their store, the hate immediately shifted and many started viewing Steam as the Holy Messiah of gamers. I’m not a fan of Epic, but do you actually think they release a higher percentage of crap them Steam, a store known for years to be overloaded with asset flips, abandon ware and outright scams?

  • @WhyAreYouGhe

@@johnpatz8395 Why would you care about the quality of the games there if you (and probably 99.9999% of people) aren't going to buy it? Because you KNOW its an asset flip etc. from the reviews... I have no love for steam, but the hate towards Epic is justified. They just care about making shady deals with devs (like the ones marketing their game on steam only sell exclusively on epic)to sell their broken games with no fear of users warning people. Besides...why are you comparing Steam game numbers, which are in the tens of thousands, with epic who has maybe hundreds? Obviously Steam is going to have more crap on it just by being so popular. And also in the past years they really cleaned up the store, I haven't seen asset flips/scams for a very long time in my recommended. Competition is good and god knows steam needs some, but Epic store care only about their reputation/ties with developers and treats consumers like dirt.

The funny thing is that this is a remaster of the console version as well, Not a remaster of the PC version. So if you compare them side by side a lot of the detail is stripped out in this version.

Great review and honest as always! Just get the original on GOG. I've seen it on sale for $3-$5 before and they also have Warhead. All of the irritating DRM has been removed as well. Both run great on windows 10/gtx 1080, so a newer card would likely be that much more incredible. There are also mods out there to make them look even more photo realistic, but those games honestly look like they came out last week let alone in 2007 with the graphics maxed out, so no remaster necessary IMO. And yes, the original game HAS a lean feature which is REALLY useful!

If developers manage to see this, keep it in mind. I'm sure there are a few more that come to this channel for this exact purpose. I didn't buy Star Wars Battlefront 2 either...until Mac made a 2nd video saying how it has been improved and is now worth it. And it actually was. Love you Mac! Thanks for the great work!

The thing is with the original, is that the devs place their bets on CPU clock speeds increasing exponentially in the near future. It was meant to scale with clock speed. What happened instead was that IPC (instructions per cycle) got better in combination with higher core counts and multithreading. That was a perfectly understandable gamble. Today though? The devs know what the landscape is like today, so not optimising it properly was a choice. It's not as if the highest graphical settings look particularly incredible either, if there's some future tech going on (like full blown raytracing of every kind, some new particle effects or whatever) then fair enough, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I'm not sure the top settings are meant to scale with time and new hardware like the original, moreso that they just made it poorly optimised so it can be used to benchmark. Which would be fine if that was clearly communicated as the intent.

Remember when the game came out, my PC was under spec but being a tinkerer and without OC'ing, I was able to run it on max settings and it looked fantastic. Put a lot of hours into SP and some in MP it was great. The second instalment, though looked better, ran better and was all 'round more interesting, and an average PC could run it. Just goes to show that great graphics don't require top line hardware. The only franchises I've ever come across that required an upgrade with each new release are the Total War franchise and original "IL-2" flight sims.
