Fantastic episode!! I also caught both Molly and Bennet's episodes on Griftonomics and loved them. As someone with no software engineer or finance background listening to you guys is super helpful and important to me. My local paper just ran a front page pro-blockchain piece interviewing a college finance professor who talked about how great putting mortgage documents and what not on the blockchain is going to be and how blockchain is cutting edge technology and the future. It doesn't matter how much of a dumpster fire crypto is right now, its still being pushed and promoted and all the problems hand waved away. What you guys are doing is so very important. Seriously.

Comment while I'm watching is that I HATED that "have fun staying poor" and in club speak "we're all gonna make it" comments this crypto cycle. It really should have been my opening eye that the space was WAY overheated. No criticism accepted, just call the guy criticising the project an idiot and call in your "wagmi club bros" to pile in with talking points from the guy taking your money for a useless token or nft set. I have always enjoyed listening to both sides of something... I want to know when massive investors created this so I wont buy it. I want to imagine the possible use case and say no thats not for me and why would you want the world to be like that.... Look at NYC taxi tags, those could be a real world NFT, you must own it to compete... and uber killed it because it was terrible and crushed competition.

Overall, good talk, a lot of those who talk a whole lot about the ideals that they supposedly hold whilst selling people a bridge aren’t at all truly sincere in their beliefs - or as a classic saying goes "Deeds, not words". However, concerning that talking point of "free speech being a right wing talking point", was Molly White implying that free speech is a right wing idea? I suppose to a certain authoritarian leaning type of leftist, who might think that anti-authoritarian leftist who dare to uphold the ideals of free speech even for people whom they abhor including right-wingers aren’t "true/good leftist", free speech would indeed seem "right wing", but then that would just be his own peculiarly distorted and myopic view of what free speech really is. That is not to mention that by that same funny standard, all the venerable advocates of free speech across the ages and political persuasions whether republican, liberal or socialist would then also all be "right wing".

and not to mention the fact that many people of other ideologies, including liberals, socialists (e.g. people like Orwell), and neo-Republicans also embrace similar, albeit not identical, ideals, especially regarding free speech and liberty in general, yet people like Molly White who are so single-mindedly against the alt-right, which is all well and good, somehow seemingly have this huge jump to fallaciously imply that upholding the ideals of liberty or free speech suggests links to the right or the alt-right just because crypto-authoritarians on the right and closeted-alt-right types pay lip-service to liberty.

I remember following the skeptic community between ~2002 and ~2010. I'm skeptical/disbelieving of religion because I think it's counter-factual not because I view it as immoral or care how holy the believers are. Eventually I realized it's opposite for some people in that community and some "skeptics" sought to find holes in something they already subjectively disliked for their own very personal reasons. I'm skeptical of crypto for what I hope are practical reasons (lack of practical uses outside of criminal activity, slow and expensive transactions, increasingly high energy use by design, etc.). The smug moralizing in this video is tiresome just like it eventually became with the skeptic community.

But I don't care to listen to another crypto critic's liberal political critique of crypto industry that you also share and not adding enough new angles or news. Example of the highs and lows of the episode... the discussion re: wikipedia, I didn't know about the governance board discussion re: accepting crypto and how that all went down (interesting!) but then it tailed off into 'crypto bros don't really believe in democracy.'

gloating for sure! she is so happy. do you kids realize that without FDIC insurance, no bank in the USA can survive a run like Celcius is facing? what is incells? you guys have to go see the world outside America. your little conversation on web3 reminds me of the boomers talking about the internet in 2001. won't age well... weird blurb on VC. unlike what she says, Venture Capital is in fact the best asset class for society. VCs fund innovation, entreprenuers, the young. it's much better for society than stock investing (fattening CEOs) and bonds investing (helping government run disgusting levels of debt). real estate is good, too. it gives people a stake in society. btw kids, if you make enough money to live from this work, then you are part of web 3 (web 1 = platform creates content, platform makes money. web 2 = user creates content, platform makes money. web 3 = user creates content, user makes money). yes scammers suck, and they are dumb. for every $1 they steal, crypto market cap loses $10 at least. glad you bring up decentralization! core to the crypto dream. curious is you have ever used Defi? if you haven't, stop talking about it. could not understand your point about wikipedia and crypto. what happened?
