    Johnny from Bilmuri (IS Bilmuri) used to be in a band with Caleb Shomo from Beartooth, that band was Attack! Attack!. Also Corn Fed Yetis is featuring HARDY as well as Knox. HARDY is a country/metal artist/songwriter who's also made a song with Beartooth. The crossover is insane lol All Gas is featuring Mitchell Tenpenny who is on a song with HARDY, and Jon Langston. Jon Langston was featured on an ISSUES song and ISSUES' drummer plays on all the new Bilmuri stuff. The rabbit hole goes so deep 🤣

    First time I came across Bilmuri, I was expecting some heavy metalcore based upon the logo, but the art itself was throwin me off and I was like dude these song names are hilarious. Then I heard the hog crankin song and I was like WHAT.mp4, this is nothing like I was expecting. The guitar was so like country-esque, the vocals are great with deep ass lyrics, and the Aperture science skit totally threw me off. I was like seriously WHAT is going on?? But its working and I'm LOVING it! Then he finished that shit off with the iconic Taco Bell ring??? Bruh that shit resonated with me and I had to know more. I've been getting in it deep at this point and loving every second of what Bilmuri has to offer, I just saw them live last night and the show was a BLAST! What a genius project.

    The thing that blows my mind is that the screamer on Corn Fed Yetis is Hardy who apparently is a country singer/songwriter who has written songs for Florida Georgia Line, Morgan Wallen and Blake Shelton. So cool that a guy like that would be on this song.

    For Boutta Cashew and most of Bilmuri's recent work (Goblin Hours album) I'm pretty sure it's all Josh Manuel recording/writing acoustic drums. Phenomenal drummer with such good energy behind the kit!

  • @silendt

    @silendt

    4 ай бұрын

    Yeah, from what I understand, Goblin Hours and forward has all been Josh on drums. If memory (of social media comments/stories) serves, Goblin Hours itself was all recorded on acoustic kit. During those sessions, Josh and producer Will Carlson captured samples of the kit, which I believe were (and maybe still are?) available for purchase. As I understand it, everything since has been Josh tracking from home using his TD-50 and, primarily, the samples from the GH sessions. Between his touring schedule with Kane Brown, and other obligations, it sounds like tracking that way makes more sense with his availability.

    Love Bilmuri so so much!!!! Finding him was the biggest musical blessing I ever found! I love the humor in his titles, but the depth of his lyrics, and the music just hits perfectly!! I’ve always said on “livin Laughlin’ lovin” the sax solo at the end needs to be doubled, but without singing on the last two, “Hog” is Faqking amazing right!?!? I get joy from watching people experience this that kick drum always hit with his guitar strums so well and just gives the music so much power

    Me and the wife absolutely love Bilmuri he should be waaaay more popular than he is. We live in Chicago and have driven all over to see him from grand rapids to Indianapolis to ohio to Louisville Kentucky to Philadelphia. Met him a few times and he is such a nice guy. I had to ask him "how do u write so many bangers?" (Im a musician myself) because he writes so many good feel good songs. Like if your having a bad day and you just play some Bilmuri it automatically makes you feel better. Not sure which musicians will be playing with him on the next tour but we eagerly await the next tour.

    It's hard to describe the genius of Bilmuri. But to give a little bit of my own thoughts. It's the upbeat, major tone, mixed with the chuggy undertones, the mixing is masterful. Then add the relatable, fairly dark and sad lyrics. In essence they dont match, but he makes them all work. Basically he has no box, but also has a sound that you hear and its recognizably HIM. No one can sound like him. Its post hardcore pop, mixed with jazz and metalcore and anything he wants to add. I recommend every LP and EP. Goblin Hours is still on repeat at least once a week. It's technically an EP but a pure masterpiece.

I found him early COVID and have been obsessed ever since, but goblin hours and esp the singles he's put out afterwards....bilmuri is about to bust outta the stratosphere of greatest independent music of our time. The stuff he's putting out right now is already on par with the biggest and best talents in the industry with multi-million dollar labels and producers behind them. Catchy, polished, accessible, interesting, S tier hooks, leads, and mix.

    Since you mentioned Beartooth and emo, Caleb (Beartooth's frontman) and Johnny (aka Bilmuri) are former bandmates from a band called Attack! Attack! (the corny/cringey Crabcore scene band), in which Caleb went from the band's keyboard player in their first album, to screamer the second album, to full frontman on their third and final album before their big breakup. Johnny was the band's rhythm guitarist and clean vocalist their first two albums.

    When I listen to Bilmuri I realize not every song is for me. Its an adventure, an extension of self and an appreciation for music, its timing, its balance as you say. Its a dance between different sounds and it doesnt restrain itself to fit one genre or another. His music incoprorates whatever the hell he feels and thinks would sound good to include country, RB, screamo, whimsical metal, hip hip, even a mix of latin drums in one of those songs and his music is like an experiment of the love of all music and thats what keeps me on my seat wondering whats next, even if it isnt my jam.

    New Bilmuri is everything that country does right without all the cringe of everything else, with some added bonuses. Top tier stuff

    This is how I imagine everyone should react to hearing these songs for the first time, if they don't then there's no hope for them!

    You mentioned Beartooth near the beginning, you may have seen this before but here's an old old video of caleb (beartooth) and johnny (bilmuri) in attack attack! at the studio. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lIxlw8SvkbiqnLQ.html - imo attack attack and asking alexandria created the genre. My absolute favorites. and to see caleb and johnny continue to make the sickest music ever a decade and a half later is the coolest shit ever.
