Took delivery of my Volvo V60 T8 Recharge last week. Today drove a variety of road types and managed 105.4 km on Pure. Very pleased with that result.

Really impressing. Both cars. But the barely 100 km...wow. Well done. Didnt looked up yet, but can you do a test where you do a long trip? I`ve came back yesterday from hungary and thought about the fuel consumption on 1200 km, without external charging. Will the battery ran out (on hybride of course :D) or will it support the fuel engine to lower the consumption til the end?

Ordered a V60 T8 a couple months ago but the waiting time is around 12-13 months. I'm so excited for it to arrive sometime next year.

Wow, thats so impressive. My 22,5 V90 range states no more than 67km, but I never tried it on "Pure" all the way down to zero, but it looks promising! B mode take some getting use to, but you'll love it, but there will be some "nose-prints" in the stearing wheel while learning/ getting the feel for it :-) Magnus, Sweden, V90 T6 20".

Yeah really impressive results. I've tried the updated B a bunch of times, and different one pedal drive solutions in different EV's. Always take it off 🤣 I'm a roller.

How much is the total max range of these cars using combined fuel and electric?

I wonder if the 455 horsepower version is available also in Europe? It looks like in the USA only V60 PHEV extended range with 450 horsepower and rated for 64 km (40 miles) in pure EV mode is available while V90 comes only with internal combustion engine.

Thanks interesting video! I have had my V60 Recharge 22.5 for 2 weeks now. In normal day to day driving (not on motorways) I am averaging around 40 miles in Pure mode. I am happy with this. I have also become obsessed with not using petrol :)

I'm still waiting for my 22.5 V60 T6 Recharge R-Design to arrive, but reading that you get a real-world 40 miles range is promising news - my daily commute is about 35 miles (return) so it looks like I'll be able to do this electric-only. 😎 PS - mine will be in Denim Blue - which I think is the same colour as the model in this video. Looks really nice 😀

@@InBodWeTrust enjoy it when it comes! I did some more experiments today. I drove from Perth to Dundee in hybrid mode mostly on the duel carriageway. Total of just over 45 miles driven - fuel economy 550 mpg 😂

Interesting, I have been driving a V60 recharge with the smaller battery for around 6 weeks and I am very impressed with it. I get a lot of charging from spare output from my solar array so it is very green motoring. I use B regen mode intermittently like you when the opportunity arises for some battery regeneration instead of using the brake pedal. I get almost 90 mpg for my routine motoring as the battery is not enough range for my occasional drive into the office. For this reason I am upgrading to the larger battery model early next year also in denim blue. I love the colour!

Having had my new 2023 V60 for a couple on months the predicted range on full charge has steadily increased and is now 47 miles.

@@MegaExaile Maybe late 2022. I swapped for the longer range facelift model a year ago with Harman Kardon sound system. Very happy with it.

Great video. Whats the name of the color on the V60? Is it the Denim Blue one? I have a V90 T8 Recharge MY23 on order in Denim Blue. But havent seem the color in real life yet since the dealer didnt have any cars in stock with that color. Looking at your range test im pretty optimistic about being able to do most of my 80 km daily commute in pure electric mode. Hard to find any reviews of the 22,5 or 23 models with the larger battery. So glad you posted this video.

My wife would prefer to stick with her non-plug hybrid XC60 B5 and I would look forward to to someday trading in my beloved V60 T5 Cross Country with Polestar Optimization for a full electric V60 with at least a 300 mile range. Wondering when such a "beast" might be available in the USA?

Such low speed limits in Norway / Bergen though. Living in Denmark I would like to see a real world test with 110 / 130 km/h. More real for my everyday.

Hello. Top speed on this test was 85km/h. On the two stretches of highway. The inner city driving was probably around 30 minutes. Or between 20-30 somewhere. Forgot to open the full trip computer to check average speed, since I had to keep on driving since the V60 behind me wasn't done yet 🤣 it just kept on going. But today I did a highway range test. Will be posting it tomorrow morning. So stay tuned

Why does the v60 still have visible exhaust? I thought they are are gonna hide it across the range the phev's. Could this difference come from the B vs D mode? Or is just the added weight of the v90?

The V60 was the last one out with exhaust tips, and also Sensus infotainment. From MY23 both are removed. Sadly. Difference could be a bunch of elements like tires, weight, aerodynamics, driving style. Doubt the B gear has so much to say.

I think they're phasing out things like the visible tail pipes and Sensus over a year or two -- not all at once. My 2022 XC60 T8 ER has the hidden dual exhaust pipes that look MUCH better than the crappy-looking and cheap-looking exhaust pipes of Volvos over the past several years -- great design decision by Volvo (just too bad they didn't do it a decade ago instead).

They are just finished with phasing it out. Now every Volvo has hidden exhaust and Android Automotive. I'm not a fan of the hidden exhaust. Especially for R-design.

I thought B was used only when petrol engine works just to push it for regeneration. Now i saw that Christopher used the B while in electric. Does it make any sense for regeneration of the batery????

I do like the looks of the V90 better, but I ordered the V60 since I don’t need the size of of the V90 and the price is easier on the V60. I hope to get at least 60 km range out of my V60 when it arrives.

How can you do a review between two cars with the same engine and do not drive in the same mode, or B mode, only because you don’t like it? If you have drove in the same way like your friend did, the results from the range of the V90 would be different, don’t you think???

Because I know from experience that the B mode doesn't make any difference. Just matter on what you like. Won't change the outcome

What's the weight difference between those wagons? Most of the range difference must surely be down to your wider tyres? Did you say you had the additional heater turned off? So no cabin heating was available to you during this test... It's a real shame they didn't upgrade the built in charger to 11kW 3phase/7kW single phase as well. The Volvo PHEVs are really great now, but after you have made good use of the great benefit a PHEV has over a pure EV (drive a long distance without chargers dictating where you have to stop) and you reach your destination you struggle to get any useful charge in to the battery unless you are able to leave it plugged in for hours. Instead I always end up driving around in the city I am visiting with no charge with a high consumption as it is city driving on peteol. Hardly ideal. I always hold the battery as soon as I have left my home town but that's never enough and are rarely able to leave the car plugged in for over an hour when I am travelling. When this upgrade was launched I went to the dealer and was going to replace my MY21 XC60 T8 until I got confirmation the charger was still the same...

Hello. According to registration documents it's actually just 100kg difference. So I'm blaming tires and aerodynamics for the reduced range on the V90. The additional heather aren't necessary on warm days. With that active it just heats up the cabin faster. We both had a nice and warm cabin. Yeah wish they upgraded the charger, but at least the Hold battery function are improved.

@@volvo_kristian Oh, is the hold function improved. In what way? (The removal of the drive mode selector is another "update" I really wish they wouldn't have done. It is one of the most used controls in our car as legislation won't allow having your individual drive mode as default)

I'll hold on to my older style XC70 as the shape is vastly more practical. I can load a good variety of large boxes, suitcases, activity things, household stuff and not be restricted by the cramped load height/ sloping tailgate at the rear. Additional range/efficiency is a fraud when you cannot carry the items you want, use the car flexibly. Then there's the weight of these cars, restricted towing capacity, impaired ride quality from ridiculous low profile tyres. (Low profile tyres reduce energy efficiency too).

The V90 has a lot more storage space than the XC70 does -- it's a really long, huge wagon. And the XC70 has the fatal flaw of not having a plug-in electric motor. (I own a V70 XC wagon, so I'm not knocking them -- just sayin' ...)

Put a Yamaha V8 in it and I will buy one

I'm really confused by your range comments at the end of this video.... You said that the ICE came on in both vehicles well before you arrived at your parking place there, but then you show us range stats after the ICE had been running for a few miles? Why not show us the range stats right at the very point where the ICE turned on? I do not see any evidence that you got more than 70-80 km of all-electric driving in either car, because you did not document that for us to see. And it also appears that you drove only 40 km/hr the entire way? Did you ever go faster than 40 km/hr on this drive? I don't think that WLTP ratings are done at 40 km/hr or less, so your low speeds could help explain any figures over WLTP. Also, it would be interesting to see you do true tests driving one of these vehicles in "D" only and then driving it again in "B" only, for the entire range of the battery, to see what kind of difference you see in urban driving (< 50 km/hr). And finally, as an American, I am wondering if you have heard if Volvo will offer a Cross Country wagon (either V60 or V90) in PHEV form in Europe with the 18.8-kWh battery pack?

Can't understand your confusion. Maybe you need to look at the whole video one more time. I said in the end that my V90 went out of electric range around 15 minutes before the final stop. (in front of the two boats) Also placed a picture there from the second I went out of electric range. At 88,5km. I drove further since the V60 wasn't done. Then we stopped when that was out of range as well. And it was then I recorded the last part. So can't understand what's confusing about that. You can see on my trip computer picture that the TM says -- In fuel consumption. And distance of 88,5km. What more do you need? Have you even seen the whole video? Where did you get 40km/h from? Drove a mix of roads. Mostly 50-70 km/h, but two stretches in 80 km/h and also the city core driving in 30-40 km/h. True world driving? This was true world driving. And a test between D and B wouldn't be totally comparable since the conditions wouldn't be exactly the same. Traffic, weather and such. The B are also significantly stronger now, and I find it really annoying in use. But you would need exactly the same car to drive same route on same day to get a accurate result if there's any benefit or not. Cross Country cars doesn't get a Plug-In Hybrid option.

@@volvo_kristian Yes, I watched the whole video (twice) and was still confused, because driving 88 or 98 km in electric-only driving (with no ICE at all) seems incredible -- much more than other people are reporting with Extended Range Volvos. Thanks for the clarification. Here in the US, we only get T8 versions of the Extended Range Volvos, but Europe gets (also?) T6 versions; I wonder what the difference is, and if the T6 means more range than T8...
