This guide is very informative, I'm very intimidated by hammer but gonna try it out soon. Definitely worth a watch for those monster guides, especially Diablos!

Wow this is just what i needed

This is great for someone who has been legit struggling and loves hammer main, but has dabbled in a few others for fun. Pukei Hammer is my strongest currently and I hope to be able to take Diablos down now that I have a bit more grasp on it thanks to you.

Hammer works just fine without lockon and with gyro on. You can squeeze more dps or utility that way

Just twist your hips and hold phone to your gut and if it Flys and you want to shoot wings bring your phone up to your face it's easy

i feel like kulu head, rath body, katachi arm, pink rath waist and kulu legs is a better build since u will get a higher chance of getting crit (65%) where the dmg is x1.25 (which is better than rath head) while also having lock on, u can change to jyura legs and kulu arm if u want more focus

Certainly do think that kulu head becomes a good choice if you can get pink rath waist and get the 4th and 5th points of CE. The 2nd and 3rd points are pretty low value. I left it out here since the pink waist is not available all the time. Especially good in the water set to get 20% affinity.

For rathian rathalos you could take lock on off when they get stunned so you can wallop the wings

I don't think so for Black Diablos, just short on time the past little while. Paralysis is the status you apply when using a paralysis weapon. Stun is specifically from blunt damage to the head that for now is largely only done by Hammer.

great info! what do you suggest for the first grade 8 hammer? was thinking of anjanath one to farm fire weakness 8 star monsters, or the diablos one

I think the best long term is water, since the set supports lock on. I’ve personally pushed it to 8-2 and it’s incredibly powerful. Easily defeating any of the water weak targets. Fire also a fine choice. It is as you’ve said that you want to set yourself up to comfortably farm 8 stars. Black Diablos is coming up and you can run the waist for lock on and have fire attack 4. I think 8 star is around the range Diablos raw starts to feel like it runs out of gas. You really need to raise it to like grade 9 or 10 which is just too much for the effort. Building out element sets to grade 8-9 seems like the better investment long term.

I play with friends pretty much constantly and slugger is coming in hard for stuns that you are scarce when playing multiplayer because you dont always have the agro or access to the head throughout the match I have the black diablos helmet tho so the part breaker from the diablos legs and the black diablos helmet combo goes crazy

Hi I'm new to the game. Would the Bone Bludgeon from the New Years event be pretty good as an alternative to the Diablos hammer? I'm currently HR 20

It's not a bad choice short term but I would not recommend it long term. It is strictly weaker than any other hammer but is relatively easier to upgrade in the early game. So I'd say consider using it for now since it would probably be easier to upgrade but plan to switch over later on.

@@AifritGaming okay thanks for your input! I think I will use the Girros hammer then. I don't want to waste materials since it's so hard to come by early game.

I've been using my grade 5 Diablos Hammer with good success, but I've been noticing that most of the top JP players use Girros end game and it seems a lot easier to upgrade. Thoughts? Oh and great video!

While I do think Diablos is better overall, paralyze is pretty powerful in combination with the KO. My guess is paralyze is really good in multiplayer and playing multiplayer is generally very frequent in Japan. I do think you can get pretty far with para hammer and it is generally easier to collect materials for. Might have some hard walls eventually with urgent quests. But that’s also inevitable with Diablos too towards 9*+.

Great video. Diablos is the absolute worst, and that rollback during his dig is clutch.

@@AifritGamingI almost have a maxed out Girros hammer. I am running Rathalos helmet and chest piece, Rathian gauntlets, and Pink Rathian Coil and Greaves. I am really powerful in my current state as I only need 2 level ups to max out my Girros hammer. The problem is, even with 1450 attack power and 387 Paralysis power, I can only just get even Kulu Ya Ku down to red if it is a 9 star. I love the special boost on the pink Rathian greaves, but I feel I need the Kulu greaves as currently, I have 15% affinity and 40% if weakness exploit procs. The upside is that when my affinity procs, I do insane damage on my specials, the problem is that when my affinity doesn’t proc, I don’t know if the level 2 special boost is really worth it even if I get 2 of them in 1 fight. I am starting to think more affinity throughout the entire fight is way better. As powerful as the Girros hammer is, I just don’t see any possible build with it that I can kill 9 star monsters effectively, let alone 10 star monsters. I am starting to think I need elemental damage to actually progress that far. Because unfortunately, there are no dragon or ice hammers for some reason, so Paralysis is the only element pretty strong against Diablos, but even at 1329 attack, I was just barely able to beat 8* diablos with my hammer build. Idk why Legiana hammer doesn’t exist, because if it did, Diablos 9* just might be possible for hammer users.

@greenbubba97 Hey, so you’re not wrong. Raw hammers really hit a wall at 9 star. The only path forward to pass urgent quests is to do the Heroics Guts builds. That’s Diablos Head and Hands, Kulu Body and Black Diablos waist. This gives you heroics 5, lock on and guts. Getting hit right at the start will give you a 50% damage boost. It’s an extremely clunky way to play but it’s the only path forward for raw or status builds. I have a video on it on the channel. Personally I’ve passed Kulu 9 with an 8-5 water hammer. The water build I effectively have 2100 attack. But now stone walled on Pukei since I’ve not built thunder yet and waiting for zinogre. So if you want to try to just pass the urgent quests. I think heroics is the only path forward. Black Diablos is coming this month so the waist could be something to look for.

Thank God for that. Black Diablos deserved better during that invasion event. I couldn’t even find one. I really dislike that the game stonewalls you into the Heroics build in order to progress past 9*. Like, the game is already hard enough to do without the heroics, but then Niantic wants us to have to either use a potion or continue hunting or wait until your health gets back to 30% health each and every time you beat a 9* and have to use heroics. I guess if I can beat any 8* that I want, it isn’t the end of the world, I just don’t like knowing that I might come across a level 9 Black Diablos that I cannot do because of that stonewall and during the event, I will want to fight as many of them as possible for materials, so bypassing level 9 variants might be the best way to save time and potions, because the game still gives you the same reward RNG either way.
