Two things to address about the video. I misspoke when I said Muslims are the clan government (you can get clan government with other religions, its just the Muslims are the major of the clan governments at the start of the game). Also Harmonious Succession is not exactly the same as Primogeniture succession, sorry I gave that impression. While it does give the capitol duchy and associated titles, it only gives 3/4 of other titles. It's still massively superior to other succession forms of the time though!

so does that mean you should assign members of your dynasty/house as your vassals and give them land or do your vassals just join your dynsasty/house upon becomming your vassals?

the first one, you need to give family members land which can be rather tricky for a while since they will have claims on your titles if you do children or siblings. However due to inheritance laws the dynasty will usually stay in control of the lands for the rest of the game, so once you get it going you can be fairly stable!
