CRUSADER ARMS TEMPLAR - ACCURACY REVIEW
Ойын-сауық
We had the chance to shoot groups a 100 yards with the Crusader Arms Templar and over all we were very impressed.
Thanks to NAS Outdoors for the ammo and @SwampfoxOptics for the 5-30 Kentucky Long Rifle Scope.

Nice to see a gun made for Canada getting some love! This is my main rifle, my SHTF gun. At least until I have enough to get myself a CZ Bren 3 MS but as far as I'm concerned it performs more than well enough for what I have it for. Plus the Bren 2 is like 3 thousand dollars lol. I also found out that they now offer a shorter barrel complete upper that comes with a new bolt, bolt carrier and spring system so you just push out your pins, drop the lower and throw the shorter upper on and because its just the upper you dont need a restricted license to buy it now but of course if you want to actually put it on the gun you will need one when you want to use it. You just have to register it as a short barrel rifle within 30 days physically attaching it to the lower. They only make them for the Gen 1 rifles (they did a revision to cut some of the weight off the rifle cause it is pretty heavy with the monolithic upper) but having the shorter barrel would make it even better for me.
Great video Corey.
It would have been nice to see a spread of bullet weights as well as brands, since some barrels prefer heavier or lighter……though there is a bit of a rabbit hole to go down on that topic. Still, just to see if anything happens.
To anyone looking to purchase one of these rifles. Just note that I waited 3 months from time of order. (Was supposedly 7-14 days) To receive a rifle that looks like it came out of the rejection pile. Stock and barrel etched, scratched and pitted. Like not even just a little bit. A LOT. Im completely mind blown and pissed. A paint job wouldn’t even cover up the pitting and some of the scratches. The Emailed pictures to crusaders and they have turned a blind eye.

People said the same about the Robinson Armament M96. Mine was flawless and now worth >$5k when you can find. Only 2 thou were made, extremely rare. Get your rifle QC'd if problem is legit.

General turnaround time is different from active turnaround time. Like any industry, when there is a back order on parts, wait times can vary. 3 months sounds excessive. However with a Lifetime warranty and one of the best customer service support in the industry, I would assume you made contact and were all taken care of.

Mine didn’t have a scratch on it. The e clip did come off of the bolt release after a dozen rounds. Apparently they had some that went out that the eclip wasn’t installed correctly. They sent me some new ones and I installed it correctly I hope and haven’t had any issues after shooting another 60-70 rounds through it.
Although I agree with your choice of ammo being stuff that people will actually use in this type of rifle, I have a feeling that it would be quite a bit more accurate with heavier match hollow point loads like 69gr, 75 and 77gr

I always use heavier ammo on a new rifle for "break in"
Looks neat….
I’m thinking of getting one of these in 7.62x39, but I assume in 556 you can use 10round pistol mage, whereas that’s probably no an option in 7.62, right? Any input on that from you guys? If not, I may get the crypto. Not sure
Under 2 moa with bulk ammo is Pretty good for a piston gun.

Bought one from the Black Friday sale. Been out a few times with it. So far not overly impressed. Accuracy my getting with the 55gr was similar at 1.5 moa average.

it isnt realistic to expect sub moa out of a semi auto especially if you aren't using handloads.
@tburrows357
Жыл бұрын
@@kevinforget549 actually I could have worded that better. The accuracy is actually quite good and reliable at 1.5 moa and what I expected out of this rifle. I have done 5 round groupings and the accuracy has been the one thing I’m happy with. I have AR15 that are sub moa builds with factory ammo. No. What I’m not impressed with is that I have had light primer strikes about every 20-25 rounds. Ordered a new hammer spring to hopefully fix that. And the platform is extremely finicky with which magazines one uses.

@@tburrows357 - curious that you've had that experience. I have the Crusader 9, which has a different magwell, but it's used PMAG Gen 3s, Hera H3s, STANAG and Lancers with no trouble. What happens with the "wrong" magazines, for you?

@@christopherono6587 Heras would not stay locked in and would drop out or drop down for failure to pick up a round. Pmag 3’s also wouldn’t fully seat so they should fail to lock in. Crusader arms admitted this on a instagram post reply but it was the Gen 2’s that were the problem

Yeah not the best platform, much to be improved on. Just a testament to how much better this could group under better circumstances, the shooter being one of them lol
Why not match your bullet weight with your twist? 55grain bullets are generally used in barrels with 10" or 12" twists. Website says Templar has a 8" twist, your optimum bullet weight for stability would be 65gr to 75gr. Beyond that, fooling around with seating depth can shrink groups even more.

As "cool" as this gun looks, it's a bad purchase. This company won't be around forever and once parts brake and they can't be sourced any longer you've got an expensive paper weight. Ask me how I know this.... I bought a DRD Tactical Paratus... proprietary parts and now gone!
