I finally retired and I wanted to sail around the world. My wife said if I bought a sailboat she was going to leave. I sure miss her.

I think this will also be a breakingpoint in our relationship but i have always told her its my dream to sail and if i can make it i will do so no matter what. But you can always make compromises maybe if she doesnt want to stay on boat all the time she stays home with her friends (not sure how good this owuld work)
Its always good to see you guys!
I can speak on the "wife wont like it"...My wife thought I was an idiot for buying a sailboat UNTIL I brought it home and after our first trip on the icw....she is obsessed now LOL

Good to see Lady K together again on video, This will have to do until winter breaks and you're back on the adventure trail
We're so glad you're making videos again. You're a funny couple. Please make more.

Great video! I especially like #9 on other people dissing your plan/dream and the suggested response. Hearing you take the positive position and following your adventures of the past, makes "ME" feel better chasing my dream. Thanks for being one if the most technically informative channels out there! Glad to see you two making videos!
Great video. Except #3. She liked it so much that she jumped ship and left you to figure out how to get back up the East coast...
i just stumbled onto your site. finally the truth about the myths. love the commentary while watching the vidoe in back ground....
Cant wait for you all to get back sailing.
Great video.. missed you guys.. Can't wait until your out there again!
Greetings from Grand Island, NY Niagara River. Would love to go sooner, but will have to wait a few more years. Thanks for the videos ...very informative! Looking forward to your next cruise.
F*$K Em...Just do it... Love it guys, glad to see your are back releasing videos!
I liked the spontaneity of this video!
Great idea for a video , loved it
Haven't seen you guys in ages. Some how you got off the viewing rotation...but here you popped up. Candice, you look better than ever. What who....I mean "what" have you guys been eating? I missed a ton of your episodes so will go back and catch up. God it's good to see you two back together. Little John Sends his love....
Your best episode in awhile. Great work. Keep on sailing and filming!
Good job, folks. I'm guessing by now, you two are experiencing "cabin fever" as I am here in Maine. Can't wait for warmer weather to get back out on the water. Someone commented (to me) the other day about how wonderful winter is here in Maine and I responded: "It's better in the Bahamas!" We just have to hang on a little longer before we can all once again be eating "cheeseburgers in Paradise." 👍

Good info 👍looking forward to new sailing vids
good to see videos again!!! pretty interesting and most of the people I know are using Navionics :-) I have a friend who was in the Navy and demonstrated using the old paper charts and how that worked.. Navy in the 70's :-) It's all pretty interesting.. wonder if I'll ever get to go lol.
Anchored in that same spot in Bimini
Best video so far!
Love the channel. Most of the comments are around the Caribbean and its requirements. Would love more info on sailimg around South America and South Africa and the additional boats requirements etc
very nice video !!
YES Thank you guys
Just looking around for my first boat and out I go ;)
Well I’m loosing weight , after buying a boat. I can’t afford to eat . Lol
Thanks for keeping it real.
Actually it's David Letterman who has the Top Ten List. Also he starts at 10 and counts down. P.S. Looking forward to watching your next adventure.
Love seeing this!!!
Four words from me on this: Lin and Larry Pardey Great video folks.
Great video, and nice to see both of you again! While I have Navionics loaded on an Android pad as a backup, my primary nav system is OpenCPN running on a small touch-screen laptop. The NV charts for the Bahamas run on OpenCPN, and are excellent!
Looking for my first boat right now. Great video 👍🏼
Great slogan: LADY K SAILING fuck’em, just do it!! 🤣
Just stumbled across your video. I have just looked up a little about Lady K that you describe as a Hughs 35 (also I believe known as a Northstar 35/1500) designed by Sparkman and Stevens and described as once a racing boat. Lets back up a little because I find many modern day sailors don't know too much about this. In the sixties and seventies a yacht racing handicap system evolved called the IOR. Boats were measured and obtained a rating. Designers started designing boats that rated well and a boat could be slow for its size but fast for its rating. Many of these yachts had quite distorted hulls, wide beam, narrow sterns, masthead rig with HUGE genoas etc. A distinct style of yacht evolved and the Hughs 35 is an IOR style yacht. Further competitions evolved where boats of the same rating would race each other the 'ton' classes quarter, half, three-quarter, one and two ton being the most common. The term 'ton' has nothing to do with weight but long story short relates to a French yacht racing trophy of the 1890(?)s. Many of these racing 'ton' designs were then produced as racer/cruisers such as the Hughs 35. Lady K traces her origins to a three quarter ton design. Modern designs are not designed to IOR rules and are better for it but that said a lot of old IOR yachts are good solid boats that come well equipped and make adequate cruisers. Google IOR you strike me as the sort of person who might be interested in this stuff. Also google the Admirals Cup an international team sailing event sailed in the UK under IOR.
Another great video guys! I do have to hold you accountable and blame you guys for something.... we bought a small O'Day 19 day sailor in late fall. Hahahahaha. It's been under a tarp since the day I bought it, so I can't wait for the good weather to start fixing her up! So begins our sailing odyssey and you are completely to blame :P Keep up the great work!
Myth #11 everyone out cruising is young
“ I don’t mean to be sexist but the women usually think about the practical stuff, laundry, dishes”… no need to try to be PC. Generally there are blue jobs and pink jobs. Fact. Acknowledging and addressing such realities will help u achieve goals together. “Just go, do it” love it
Great video. I will say that my boat came with a nice garmin touchscreen chart plotter and I love it. However I have Navionics on a tablet and on my phone as back ups.

Same, but i also keep paper charts and mark my position every local noon, i am just paranoid that i will lose all electrics
"As long as you're intelligent and keep your shit together". Well that rules out a few folks!!! Navionics is GREAT, but having fixed equipment to interface with auto-pilot is very nice also.
Have been bindge watcing your channel. and stopped for a short while to clean the inside of my truck ..... and OMG your theam tune ....I started humming it... please tell me how to stop humming it.
thought this was going to be horriable but it was really good! keep it up
As far as safety equipment. You just need to take caution and what ever you do, make sure you rent and watch “All is Lost” and what ever he does in that movie do the opposite.
Are we hinting about a possible new boat?? And also are you planning on heading back to the Bahamas this year at all?👍👍
Great informational episode !!!! Are you two leaving out soon and if so do you have a tentative date?? Thanks

Hey thanks for the video. Man that anchor digs in good. You can see the boat twist when it catches.
When I'm was asked how much does it cost to go cruising, I say whatever you have. If you have very little money, that what it costs; if you have lots, that how much it costs (you buy lots of toys and a watermaker). Interestingly, the view from the cockpit of a 28 footer is the same as from a 60 footer.
Number nine, Fuck'em! I love it!!
F#*k em....haha made me laugh cause it's so true.

@@LadyKSailing I have a strong feeling our paths are going to cross eventually. I'm going to be doing the Sail Canada Cruising course up there (Southern end of the bay). Getting ready to follow in your wake, so to speak. LOL In the meantime, all we can do is survive winter, right? :D
I've taken off on a C130 far more times than I've landed. I love the chemistry with you two. She's fully onboard as well. Pun intended. You can't buy a boat for that sort of cash in the UK. I'm happy to buy a US registered boat and sail the Caribbean though. Is that allowed?
First time i went sailing we were beating passing everyone then boat go overpowers stated blowo g 25 to 30 first time reefing with knowing nothing and gettong directions yelled at i couldn't hear Lord I was out of breath when i got her right lol

What are your (or anyone) thoughts on towing a 13ft Boston Whaler behind a 35ft sailboat, from Fla to the Bahamas and South ?
@LadyKSailing
4 жыл бұрын
Hey. Well it would slow you down a lot. And be very dangerous if the weather picks up. The towed vessel may ride stern waves and come forward and crash into you. Our dinghy did all the time. I wouldn’t do it :(
@jcregal3456
4 жыл бұрын
@@LadyKSailing Would using a longer tow line or perhaps a drogue on the dinghy help.
@LadyKSailing
4 жыл бұрын
Jc Regal a long tow line for sure. A driver for the whaler if it gets crazy would help. Cross to Bimini on a nice day and no issue there. Anchoring is something to consider too. The whaler will swing entirely different than the sailboat when the tide changes. I’d likely sister it up at anchor with some good fenders. You can do it but play it safe. If it squalls, have someone drive it I think.

I've been considering the cruising lifestyle and really enjoyed/appreciated the info. (And yes, you gained a new subscriber!) (Edit! Please see end of comment.) Can you provide any insight on your monthly living expenses? I'm trying to get the warm fuzzies on what to expect with the basics (ballpark $$). This will help in knowing what I can put aside for repairs and the unexpected. Many thanks! (Info: Just me and maybe a dog, and I'm looking at a liveaboard, 36' max.) Edit: Just watched E7: 'How much does sailing cost?'. Great info! Any major changes to it? Cheers! 🙂

The Big Woop We did our budget and calculated around 1000 to 1500$ a month. We will be anchoring as much as possible and prepping our own food. If we can keep it at 500$ some months that would be great. Will be leaving at the end of summer 2020, the more we stretch the budget the longer we will be able to stay afloat.
