Too bad cruise lines are not allowing vpn's
I have to say that posting your vacation plans online is just asking for your home to be robbed. I’m really hesitant to go on the cruise board for my cruise because you never know who’s in there.
I still think cruise lines should have one or two security questions to be answered when a passenger wants to cancel a cruise or add major purchases.

It seems like if the line gets a cancellation notice there should be a mechanism to verify--especially after full payment. Maybe a text to the number on the secure account saying "we received a cancellation for cruise XXXX and you have X hours to contact us or your cruise will be cancelled."

“Flushable” wipes should never be flushed anywhere. I’ve had to clean sewage pumps out way too many times.
I heard from a plumber the flushable wipes aren't good for toilets at home either.
I don't put info online about our vacations until we are back home. The internet is just as dangerous as it is helpful. These mega ships are doing nothing but putting more people in areas and more $$ in the company's pocket. I personally prefer less than 3,500 passenger ships. Thanks for sharing!

Who wants to get robbed? We now hire house sitters.
On my first cruise maybe 50 years ago (Cunard Countess) the comedian on board riffed an entire show about all things germane only to cruising. I still remember his telling us that if we all went back to our cabins and flushed at the same time we would be in our next port of call in less than 5 minutes. It was funny then and it’s still funny now.
We cruise with Royal Caribbean, and a few years ago they started moving the bathroom box of tissues to a drawer in the desk in the stateroom. When I first noticed them doing that I asked our stateroom attendant, who told me that it was part of their efforts to keep passengers from flushing them down the toilet. Apparently even that relatively thin tissue paper will gum up the works, so flushable wipes will probably clog the system even faster.
@lynnmoquin2059
29 күн бұрын
If I remember correctly from years ago in the paper industry, tissues (ie Kleenex type) have additives so they don’t disintegrate when wet. That is why they are more harmful to drain pipes than toilet tissue which needs to break down more easily.
I was already aware that flushable wipes are a no-no, so I would use one and then wrap it up REALLY well in toilet paper and throw it away when we were on our cruise. I've done that for years when we take our RV out camping because I don't want those wipes getting stuck in our black tank either. :)

I carry a roll of those dog poo bags for any wipes we use. That way, we're not using the (probably) more expensive tampon/pad bags they provide.
One man's take on "too many cruisers": 1) The industry trend has been "Bigger and bigger is better" when it comes to ships. (Less so for service). 2) Mega-ships often can't dock in small ports, do it's more difficult to disperse concentrations of cruisers . 3) Tourist infrastructure around those ports that can accept the larger ships is often land-locked and not easily scalable for a 2X capacity. This gets everyone, especially local residents (the ones who elect local officials), too crowded and grumpy. I think the cruise companies have all been a bit short-sighted on the long term impacts to "build only bigger", and as locations are successful in limiting the number of passengers in port each day, we'll all be looking at more eleventh hour itinerary changes that favor sea days and private islands. Maybe all mega-ships all the mega-time aren't mega-best for the long term health of the industry?
@micheleskeggs2173
Ай бұрын
Agree 100%. I once asked John Heald if Carnival would ever build some mid size ships again...he said never. IMO cruising is right now at it's peak, however what happens when the lines can't fill these mega ships. As you said these large ships cause problems getting into ports and the ones they get into are so over crowed. I have cruised since '72 so I've watched the industry grow...not all for the better. I have no interest in so many sea days or going to a pvt. island which reminds me of Coney Island (NY). Perhaps I've cruised for so many years and know what I like and it's time for something else. I do know one thing...a business has to listen to it's base. If I wanted to sail on a aircraft carrier I would have joined the Navy. Sorry this is so long. Many Thanks.

pros and cons. Biggest downside to my perspective is the space on board being unable to accomodate 5,000 plus people on the outside decks, and in venues inside too. Umm as for too many people descending on a village at once .. well we just cruised to Skagway and it was all ships with 3000 ppl or fewer. ... but 5 of them at the same time. 13,000 passengers in the wee village at once lol. That is still too many people, like having 2.5 Icons at once. umm I like the big central mall in the gigantic ships but I liked the quietness of no kids and lots of empty seating in the Edge ship we were on.
Flushable wipes marketing lies work too well. They are "flushable" in the same sense that billiard balls are flushable. Flushable means they'll go down the toilet hole, not that they won't screw up something up nor that you SHOULD flush them.
I am never fully convinced I am on a cruise until I hear the toilet flush.

He's dead because when he hit the water it was just like hitting concrete. People need to realize that when you hit the water from 17 decks (stories) up the water is not soft like jumping into a swiming pool. People brake bones jumping from 7 stories high. 17 stories/decks is a death sentence.
@jahbern
29 күн бұрын
I thought he jumped from deck 5? But either way, if you’re jumping you’re not trying to hit the water in a way that minimizes injury. 20m divers who dive for a living only dive a couple of times a day in practice, and only a few times a week - that’s how hard that water is on the body. Even deck 5 would be a catastrophic jump, especially if the ship is moving.
Paul was a great CD on a few of our RC cruises. He said only what goes in your mouth should go in the toilet. Good advice. I use the sanitary napkin bag to dispose of used wipes.
THANK YOU!!! I’ve been so tired of hearing people refer to their “room Stewart”. ❤
The flushable wipes situation is a problem at hospitals too. My hospital stopped buying them because it damaged the plumbing system so badly.
Small is better. If you are seeking the glitz and glamor of a megaship, go to Las Vegas. When your monster ship and two or three other regurgitate thousands onto a tiny island, all you will see are tourist traps and artificiality. To see the real culture and ambiance of a place, a small group with a knowledgable guide can bring you to the places that the locals go. My cruising was mostly on small ships, and I visited many places and experienced many things that would not have been possible with a typical cruise ship mob.
@Dabeachguy

Nah I’ll stick to the mega ships. 👍
Also, "flushable" wipes are a nuisance to local water treatment plants. They literally have a machine that removes them and they have to send them to solid waste (the dump)
We never post anything about upcoming trips or while on the trip. If we ever post something, it is after we return. No need to let the world know you are not home.
Carnival requires that you give them your PIN number when you call to make a change on your reservation. They should require it as well to make changes online too. This would have stopped their cruise from being cancelled since it's a number you give to your agent when you book a cruise.
I love Carnival’s new way of making money. All they need is a name and booking number and they can cancel anyone’s cruise, keep all the money and sell the cabin again. If asked, they can just say “oh, it was someone in Canada who cancelled your cruise”. Only an honest cruise line would think to contact a cancellation passenger and check they really intended to do that. Much easier to pocket the money.
Not “how” does it happen….”why” why would someone cancel someone else’s cruise? What benefit do they gain from that? They don’t get any money….why would they cancel it?

Tony as long as you have a channel you have a life member with me, keep up the fantastic work God Bless
Speaking of cruise ship toilets, back in March we had one on the Pride that didn't flush for about 5 seconds after hitting the button. First time it happened I thought it was working them all of a sudden after a few seconds came the baaa-WOOOOOOSH of a normal cruise ship toilet. We'd never experienced that before.
You do the toilet sound perfectly! Congratulations!
Yep, freaked me out first time too. It sucks. 😂
Didn't get a chance to respond to your post from yesterday (?) about you being more yourself - cracking jokes, being funny and entertaining. Personally I love listening to your channel for that reason. You're entertaining AND you deliver valuable information. You be you, man, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. BTW where did you get the "For Your Face" schtick? I remember there was a comedian back many years ago who did a fake Italian accent and used to say "Wassa matta fo yo face?" We used to go around joking and using that line but it's been many years since I heard it. That was in my youth and I'm 67 now so for me it was many moons ago.
The Cruise industry needs to expand to more places so that they aren't overflowing the cruise ports they have now. Also, the big issue is that there are often 5-9 cruise ships in one port on one day. That is like dumping several towns into these towns.
Congrats on over 250K!Tony, what happened to your clear gray frames?
To make it more secure, Carnival should implement another layer of security where you use a passcode they send before you get to the area where you can cancel, etc. Much more secure.
'Flushable' wipes are not only not flushable in cruise ship toilets, they are actually not flushable in on-land toilets, either. Ask any plumber or sewage system maintenance person, and they'll tell you the horror stories of build-up of these wipes clogging, damaging, and causing back-up (and even breakage) of pipe/sewage systems. 😝
If you want to use wipes, just bring along ziplock snack size bags to toss them away.
As to the person that had their cruise cancelled, the cruise lines can make one very simple change to prevent this. Just send an email to the email address on file with a link to confirm the cancellation or any changes.
Good Morning Tony and I hope that you have a wonderful Wednesday
Use the bags provided for sanitary napkins to dispose of the flushables.
I can imagine the husband who posted the booking number on line ain’t gonna get lucky anytime soon 😵💫
So sad about that cancelled cruise. 😢
I always bring plastic bags to throw the wipes away.
This why so many websites have multiple levels of security. I find it a pain in the backside, but would make some else canceling my cruise it is worth it.
That's why I like Bimini. 1 ship at the time. Crowds are small

Flushable wipes are not flushable anywhere. It’s a lie. My mother spent $3000 getting her entire plumbing redone after clogging hers with “flushable“ wipes.
Great impression of a cruise ship to let flush! 😂😂
Giving you a 10/10 on the ship toilet impression!!! 😂😂😂😂
I used the stool as a hamper 😂
I take small garbage bags and throw everything into those (including wipes) and then tie the bag shut so the steward never has to handle anything that might be unpleasant. I learned I had to tie the bag because one steward was emptying the bag instead of taking it all.
As soon as you explained the different between stewart (stuart) and steward, I clicked the like button. Can you also teach people the difference between a boat and a ship?
LOL on beginning..thank Heavens I know something!!! Viking sounds really nice to me..as now I am getting older, my thing of wanting to get on as many passenger ships and lines as possible...is waning and desre to put that time and money into a few certain companies with different philososphies in product.
