We were on the ship with the grandparents & kids. Everyone on board heard the call for help to their cabin. Then we were told by the captain we would be stopping in Cozumel while heading back on our 2 seas days to Miami. It was a sad site to see those small children with the grandfather and the grandmother in the ambulance. We also had a crew member go off in a second ambulance. The second sea day there was another heart attack and we headed full speed to Miami getting in at 2am. These events certainly didn't ruin the cruise but certainly made everyone remember that life can turn on a dime. We, too, were traveling with our grandson. We went with his passport, 2 weeks of extra medication, and legal documents giving us power of attorney.

@mattiemathis9549 if you Google power of attorney for a child you will find a document to print off. They just need to sign in front of a notary. No lawyer needed. It's a normal document used for travel or for kids with parents in the military that get deployed.

How did you find some ignorant twisted trolls who aren't happy the cruise line followed maritime law? It's called the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea and it obligates ships to render aid in such a circumstance. If the cruise line had ignored the boat in distress, the cruise line could face criminal or civil penalties.

Kudos to Carnival for the rescue. Critics should understand that Carnival didn't have a choice. The International Convention for Safety of Life at Sea (IMO 1974) states that the master of a ship at sea must proceed with all speed to assist anyone in distress if they receive a signal from any source. The master must also inform the people in distress or the search and rescue service that the ship is helping.

People are so entitled. Cannot even imagine being so desperate to leave my country that I would risk life and limb to escape. Even more unimaginable that people would be angry for someone rendering life-saving aid. Sad, truly sad that most people don't realize how fortunate they really are. They should have been proud their ship was a part of saving people's lives, not angry.

Unfortunately not everyone (especially children) can get a passport. The rules for children getting them is a bit different. Sure, you can just not cruise or leave them at home, but most of the time you don't need one for a loop cruise. What I think is funny is that there are people pouring over the boarder illegally every day by the hundreds, if not thousands, and these two kids who are citizens can't get home.

@@mrs.thomas-usmcwife5686 I just looked up the requirements for children to get a passport. It is not difficult. And unless the cruise was planned at the very last minute they should have had time to get the passports. It takes four to six weeks, three weeks if expedited. There are also emergency situations where there can be same day processing. It just takes planning. As for your other comment - this is not the venue for that discussion.

@@lej1105 I'm glad that you looked up the requirements, as most people would just assume they already know them. However, my daughter is not allowed to get a passport until she is 16. This is because her biological father who is on her birth certificate would have to give written permission for her to have one. He has had no contact with her in over a decade. There is no custody determination, because I never saw it as necessary with him not ever being around. I have looked into it extensively because I wanted to take her on a trip for her birthday. It would take a lot of money, time, and effort to get legal full custody on paper of my daughter, which is pointless for any other reason other than to get a passport. My husband, her stepdad, does not have the legal right to sign for her to have a passport and we have no way of contacting her biological father. This is what I meant when I said that it's not always easy for some children to get a passport. Thankfully, loop cruises do not require them especially when going to the caribbean.

Some parents can’t get passports because their ex won’t allow them to for various and irrelevant reasons. These parents have to jump through hoops in the court system in order to obtain a passport. And it’s easier just to use the birth certificate rather than fight with an ex spouse over something that really shouldn’t be an issue.

You are the reason my husband and I have cruising a shot and now we’re hooked 7 cruises later, so thank you for everything you do to keep people updated all while making it fun and entertaining. The reason I’m messaging you is you reach many many cruisers every day and I thought if anyone could get a message out to people it would be you. We recently just tried a MSC cruise for the first time on April 22nd on the Magnifica. As per our previous Carnival cruises we decorated our door with our personalized hangings and magnets one of which had our bars name on it (Trash panda Tavern) not sure why someone would take that as it did not even pertain to them. The other was one that said Don’t feed the towel animals. We were pretty bummed. We noticed not many people on MSC decorate their door, left us wondering if there’s anything behind that?!?!? Anyway sorry for going on just thought if you had time it would make for a good topic to not be disrespectful to others door decor, a lot of people actually enjoy seeing them I know a few times seeing others doors has helped me to find my own. Thanks for being a part of our daily routine, you and Jenny are our favorite part of the evening. Happy cruising Kristy and Michael Trash Panda Tavern

We have 22 grand & great grandkids (in total) we have cruised with several of them, both with and without parents or pass ports... we've always gotten everyone there & back safely with great memories made to boot!! We've started a family tradition of cruises that will carry on long after we're gone & someday future generations will stand on the very beaches we introduced to their parents or grandparents ❤

Thank you, Tony. Appreciate your updates, thoughts and comments on the cruise news for our faces. Costco chicken controversy, my local store, Glasgow, Scotland, has switched to bags. I'm not too keen on the chicken in a bag but I do like a Costco rotisserie chicken so I'll cope.

Chicken in a bag is not appealing and very messy. Costco is also “saving the planet” by not separately packaging their paper towels. As I like the chicken I will continue to buy them, but the exposed paper towels are different story. I will purchase a smaller amount in another store…less convenient, but less chance of contamination while being stored! Lois

Hi Tony. Another christening of a Carnival ship. Shout out Ludacris!! 😂. I would rather miss the port having civil unrest. I'm good with sea day's. Another island for RC. Depends on the cost. I never understand people who complain about saving a vessel in distress. There are policies in place. Here ya go. Another story about no passports. You never know what will happen. Hope the woman gets better. Prayer's to the family. Hope the kid's can get back home quickly. I think you can tell the size of the chicken by picking it up. Lol. PS, I never reused the chicken containers. Our local store uses the bag's, no problem. As always thank you for all you do ❤

Our cruise on the Adventure of the Seas in September had the port changed to Grand Turk. I have already been to Grand Turk. So I was looking forward to a new port, but I'm just happy to be on a cruise ship. This is my first Royal Caribbean cruise, we've got 16 across otger lines. The consensus of the facebook groups seems to be pretty happy about the change.
