This video is intended to portray a day spent at Crowcombe Heathfield station on the West Somerset Railway situated in the south west of England.
Classic steam trains are operated every day, and if you are in the area I strongly recommend that you try taking a trip through the beautiful Quantock hills along the line that runs from Bishops Lydeard near Taunton, to the coastal resort of Minehead.
Getting off the train for a visit to any of the stations along the line is well worthwhile. The staff, who are all volunteers, are a very friendly bunch who will give you a warm welcome and be happy to provide refreshments if you so desire.
I found that during the periods between trains a very relaxing hour or two can be spent just soaking up the atmosphere of a quiet GWR branch line country station. Sit on a platform bench, close your eyes, and it's very easy to let your imagination be transported back to the early part of the last century when the pace of life was very different.
