Breeding back or inbreeding creates the possibility of double negative traits or double positive traits. If you have a trait you want to keep in your breeding, then match two closely related Bison that each have that trait. But do it rarely. What you risk is that a tendency for an illness is doubled into your herd. In the wild, the herd would have been large enough that there would have been more than one bull. Lots to think about!
Awe she loves you. She knows who feeds her. Melted my heart ♥... she's so precious..
I'm surprised that they are so docile! They don't seem to care at all that you're there around their ladies and babies. Crazy.
Your baby girl ( Brooke) is just so precious!❤❤❤❤❤
I just subscribed a couple of months ago. (April 2024) I decided to go back to season one episode 1 and watch it all the way through. So far it’s been really great. I’m trying to keep up with names and numbers
Hello from frigid central Illinois. I've watched for 2 years and learned a lot about bison.

Also from IL.
You care deeply for these beautiful bison. You can only do so much. My heart breaks for you Dusty, Marissa, and the mama. You're a blessing to these beauties. God bless you all.
Aww daddy give Eleanor, a treat for her great behavior!❤❤❤❤
My dad didn't have Bison but he did have Cattle. He didn't understand there was a hierarchy. He always said you can't put two bulls together or they will fight. Lol He came in the house one day (I was like 4,5 years old somewhere around there but I can remember hearing him talking to my mom) so he came in and he was talking about two cows fighting and he couldn't figure it out lol but I know they were no longer in the same field after that LOL He couldn't stand for an animal to be without food but he definitely couldn't stand for them to be without water. Which no animal ever should be!! He also couldn't stand for one to be hurt or them hurting each other. It wasn't well that's what they do. Nope not with him. It was gotta get them separated LOL My dad was born December 16, 1934 I lost him December 30,2011 Miss him so bad
Gotta always have the cameras rolling to catch it all. Lol
Hello! Watching from North MS! Sending y’all Blessings to Cross Timbers Bison!! Love the Bison!
he is marking his scent and the females roll in it to say they are his females. He says they are my women lol
Marking his turf, and the girls are saying it's time to roll with him and come to the love nest honey. You need some brush heads out on the plains for those bison to scratch their chins and Heinies on
You are such a wonderful father to your family and bisen. ❤ Chicens, kitties, dogs and all I might not have mentioned. ❤
Your videos are always exciting to watch, cause you never know whats going on w/ your Bisons!😊😊😊😊
I love watching these videos you make Dusty Thank You

Wow I am astonished with your PASSION!
That was a pretty great idea for your new “fly swatter” between the fences.
Those bison have it Great their all spoiled .they have a Good owner yes the life no Hussle brussel just Great place to live .Your Awsome Dusty
rolling around helps the bull display his power and reliability to mate
When a bull smells and reacts to a female , curling his lip, it is called ,flehman response. I learned this when I would do chores on my Uncles farm. He had polled herefords.
Your barn looks real nice, and a wonderful idea to keep your Bisons warm come wintertime! Plus a awesome idea for them to get out of the weather!😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY everyone thank you for sharing your adventures and your herds

Your raising livestock but don't seem to know alot about the species. All bovine and all goat as well as equine use an organ upper jaw lip they have the sensitivity to read pharamone. Get your self a couple good books u won't be sorry
Daddy of the year! You did all that with a baby on your hip! Love it!
I have watched this before but just love watching your videos, and the bison. Even I am beginning to think of them as pets, 🤪, crazy. I wish there was a local ranch here so I could go see them in person.
Dunbar man, you do you❤
Thank you for sharing God bless you your family..🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀
They are so smart. I love it
Omg. Big 😊joe is majestic 👍👍👍
Hi from Houston,Texas great job Dusty
Brooke is growing up and adorable 💖💖
The girls are saying, Let’s get the hell away from Mr. Big Joe…🤣🤣🤣
They're a formidable looking animal. Im just an Aussie so i wouldn't try to pat a wild one like I've seen plenty of people trying to do in Yosemite national Park. I like the idea of not getting messed up .
Have you ever thought about putting some type of heavy onject in the pasture for the bison to play with. A tree stump or a Madison ball like they have in a gym. I wonder if there are heavy rugged toys for cattle, etc?
Hi Dusty, from Wisconsin. Love your videos
Looking good, Daniel!
Good on you dumbar that's the way to get your sensual smells to your female bisons your so lucky or spoilt for choice ahh sweet guy ❤❤ keep up the fantastic job ❤❤❤❤
Happy Birthday Dusty.
Loved the video
Yep, they are telling each other that they are ready
Big Joe may be the dominate bull but Dunbar will still be the king on the place. He is my favorite and sweet Elenore.
watching from Arizona! Found you by chance on KZread just a few weeks ago. Absolutely amazing videos and you have such a beautiful area there in Oklahoma. Keep up the amazing job your family is doing. God Bless!
Omg ty so much she is so much better
Bull #9081 is adorable! I love his big eyes and long lashes. So cute!
Watching from Winnipeg, Manitoba love every show
So now we know why the males have so many flys! Lol
Good luck with your puppy adventure, I'm a Dachshund and basenji breeder, just some advice, get your whelping kit ready now, get some cal-sorb(absorbable calcium) that is good to have on hand while your bitch is whelping, and keep contractions going. Make a little puppy warmer with a sterilite container with a heating pad. I use the bed warmers from jeffers pet to put under the whelping area to keep pups warm. Have some milk replacer, feeding tube and baby bottle on hand. It's super stressful so not having what you need makes it worse, good luck having puppies is a wonderful experience but also can be devastating when things go wrong. I've seen about everything over the years😊
Tell Dundar to stop stealing my moves.
Bull moose do exactly the same thing, then spend up to 72 hours with the cow and sometimes a calf. Remember moose are solitary wild mammals, much like bison..yup! Lovin your channel, getting caught up. From New Brunswick, Canada
Dusty have u ever thought about getting a brush for the bison to rub on an l can’t remember who it is but some one that l watch has gotten one an the cows like it an Jason on cog hill farm he got a heavy ball that his animals play with
I am surprised that you all don’t use Automatic Feeders. They work like Champ.
Great herd.
the bulls can move just about anything when they in rutt .worked on bufflo farm in peace river alberta .the bulls get fighting and head butting it sound like 12 guage going off .supprising the power they have
You know what else that would help your Buffalos when they have a body itch! Bye one or however many you think you will need, a scratch post, that you have to cement into the ground! And it's a big round long post w/ a scratch pad so they can itch where ever they are itchy at!😊😊😊😊

We’ve been planning a video in that!
You may wish to clarify about their top teeth. They don’t have top FRONT teeth. They do have top BACK teeth. They can’t bite you but they do need to chew!
Dunbar is a great looking bull. Why not split the heard and have two good bull bloodlines. Just a thought.
Very good idol
My mother was born in Buffalo, Oklahoma in 1917 and lived 96 years, passing away in 2014.
Kerri from Australia 🇦🇺
Even rolling in his pee, he's adorable.
Note to self. If I need to attract ladies, roll around in my own babymaking juice.
Dunbar??? As in Kevin Costner's Lt. Dunbar in Dances With Wolves movie? Maybe I didn't hear the name right or I am just guessing. LOL I hear you called someone Kevin too. Only seen a few videos so far.
Dusty awhile back l watched u telling us about the bison peeing on the ground an rolling in it l know you have a lot on ur mind but u had this talk before god bless you and your family

Most definitely in heat! Dunbar is showing the female's who's in charge and the ladies are spreading their feremones on them and in the air, driving Dunbar crazy! Have you ever thought of just, I guess you'd call it traded bulls with another rancher that hasn't been breed with any of your females, and how would Dunbar react to the new ladles and calfs in his family ?
10:55 Just because he "can" doesn't mean he should. They are not living life with complete land freedom without boundaries.
That went pretty smoothly! I'm impressed. ❤😊
Are you leaving the other long wall without the metal sheeting?
Is Eleanor getting enough to eat at feeding time? Or are the other bison chasing her away more than before? Is there a way to feed her away from the others? She's so cute.
Let’s hope no strong wind storms come by.
I 💗 DUNBAR
Get about 15-20 chickens they will eat fly larva which will reduce the flys.
Can you have just 1 bison would it survive
We all watched Steve teach Bindi about being a "Wildlife Warrior", so you can raise "Bison Baby"... it would be great! lol If you have someone who would like to take on this challenge I would be THRILLED! Sometimes I can see the number on the animal but I'm not sure which one it is. It would be great if someone listed online the number, their name and maybe a short bio about them. Like Eleanor, I adore her. And clearly she loves to follow you around. And Dunbar is my other favorite. Just a thought about the list. But thank you for letting me share your lives out there.
When did you first get interested in the bison? What peaked your interest in them?
Can't you bring Elanore out with you and feed the cubes just to her and then turn her back in the pen.. What do ya think...
😮...👀 Yeah, ok....But what the hell's the name of that "dog"? It looked like it was in a perpetual state of triggered. 😂
Watching ❤
❤❤❤❤
If the adult bison are pushing the little ones away from the feed, how do the little ones get anything to eat
Dunbar La pew
Meu Deus quanta revolta 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
💖 🐂💖🐂💖
Dunbar is the prettiest one
I think the animals need stimulation ! Buy some coloured footballs and see what they do 😂😁
love it you make it look like easy
Dusty have you gotten any white buffalo yet
I was going to ask what causes the abses on these Animals?
Dusty do bison ever have twins and if so have they ever survived
13:39 What would they do with a truck tire?
I had heard that you can breed the daughter to the father but you can't breathe the mother to the son is that correct
Do you brush or shear the Bison?
Iv only just seen this video. Wow your both absolutely brilliant what a team what guy!! Decent!! ❤
You've got 2 bull's, 1 on each property, so why don't you just swap the new heifers each season to stop inter breeding.
@jasminecoleby7487
Жыл бұрын
This is exactly what I was thinking! I don’t know much about bison but if there are two unrelated bulls that have their own pastures and cows why do the heifers need to be bred back to their fathers? It’s not necessary. Avoid the inbreeding as much as possible.
