Epic bro. Honestly the best rendition of this I’ve heard. Blows Clapton out of the water.

Incredible performance! Was really nice to watch that. Vocals were spot on too. Think I'll try learning this at a future date though, looks really difficult lol.

Man, I totally understand. Honestly, it took me 20 years to get this song right to the point where I think it's good and that was this past year. The trickiness is all in the timing. But stick with it, now that I've got it down, It's very satisfying. I need to upload my rendition from this year.

@@DeltaLou Thanks for the encouragement. Really, if any song is worth learning, it's this one. I can't wait until the day i can give this song some kind of justice when i play it. Love to hear your latest version.

Preaching blues by Robert Johnson is very challenging to play. I did not think to try to make a lesson for it.

Thank you, Lou - once again. I’ve watched a few on this no one makes it a clear. And it’s invaluable the way you show were the vocals go too. You’re the man! Have you done RJs Preaching Blues? Would be great if you have, could or are planning to do? Thanks again for all the work.

Thanks for such a nice comment! I am just about to release 9 new R.J Lessons this coming month but Preaching Blues will not feature as one of the lessons. Preaching Blues is almost impossible to break down in lesson form cause the song itself lacks concrete musical structure. Preaching Blues is driven by the devil spirit in R.J when you hear it. Truly, when you listen to the original recording, it's absolutely wild When I play it, it's like I have to get myself possessed to match the energy! The timing and rhythm cannot be processed. I could try in the near future, but it's a song I don't study or really enjoy to play because it feel like one continuous loop. No pronounced IV or V chord to stabilize the composition.

Delta Lou Haha yeah - it’s wild for sure! Never thought about 4 and 5 chords on it - seems to be a series of wild riffs - even the main riff which I think I’ve got changes throughout. Peter Green does a great simplified version. Cheers buddy... look forward to more... And continuing on with this one.

Not a great lesson. Just hacking away on a resonator does not come anywhere near to the style and intricate work of Johnson. Just listen to the 2 Johnson recordings of Crossroads and you will hear a much more nuanced and delicate sound.
