Crosby Area Tornado June 12, 2024 (rain-wrapped)

Спорт

I chased storms in the forests and lakes of northern Minnesota on June 12. I saw the initial storm development from home, then drove to Remer to see the first storm, but there was too much storm interaction. Then, we drove to the tail end storm to the southwest, which produced tornadoes. The first was near its end when we stopped at Portsmouth Mine Pit Lake just north of Crosby, but it was too far away to see. The second began while we were still at the same location. I suspected tornado development, and it was confirmed in the NWS damage survey where I was pointed. We then stopped on Highway 6 between Crosby and Deerwood and watched as the rain-wrapped tornado moved across our view, but we really could not see the condensation funnel of the tornado itself. The lighting was not favorable from our direction.
