Cheers for the vid and great to see you post again. There is a way to properly repair a seam if only the stitch has failed. It's best to do it when the sole is replaced. It involves deconstructing the shoe though. Once the sole is off, you'd untack the upper from the insole in the rand area, peel back the lining and heel counter/stiffener and re-sew the stitching, put it all back together and glue(if they do glue), re-tack the upper to the insole. It's a major job that would be expensive and I'd imagine only the best cobblers would do it.... and charge for it. If the leather at the seam had been cut through by the stitches, I suppose a piece of leather could be put behind to offer something to hold the stitch. If it's made, it can be re-made.

Thanks for your comment. I had kind-of thought that through but figured that would be something to do when sending in for a complete re-sole - when the shoe is taken apart anyway. For now, and for free, and considering it's in a mostly unseen place, I'll see how it goes!

Yes indeed, what a great brand. Inspired by your videos I recently bought my first pair of C&J, Islay in grain leather second hand (un-used) and I could not be happier with them, will buy more pairs from them definitely!

I recently came across a very nice video you did some years ago regarding Grenson Footmasters (Exotic). Very enjoyable. Many thanks. It got me thinking. On the video you made comments regarding the use of a leather insole attached to the tongue rather than the bed of the shoe. I really liked this idea, and wondered if you had any recommendations regarding preferred insole/insert manufacturers. I’m very new to English made shoes, so if you could find a moment to respond, I would be very grateful. Great content! Thanks
