CROCHET: Easy Pocket Shawl, Step by Step Tutorial, Easy Crochet Pattern
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
You will love this comfy cozy crochet pocket shawl that uses easy stitches and lots of repeat rows. Written pattern: www.windingroadcrochet.com/ea...
Yarn Needed: 988 yds of size 5 yarn
Hook: 8mm
Gauge: 5SC x 6 Rows = 2 Inches
Size: After wearing the shawl measures 67 inches by 16.5 inches. It should be 60 inches wide before being stretched from wear. Measure your shawl after row 1 to check sizing.
How to Adjust the Size
The goal is to have the shawl be the same length as your wingspan (the measurement from fingertips to fingertips). If you need to add or take away length from the shawl, just add or subtract from the starting chain in multiples of 2.
Then when you work your pattern, the part of the pattern that will be adjusted is the number of repeats. For every 2 chains you add or subtract from the shawl, You will adjust the repeat total by 1.

Find the written pattern here: www.windingroadcrochet.com/easy-pocket-shawl-free-crochet-pattern/ Don't forget to subscribe for more crochet video tutorials. Size, gauge, and notes for adjusting the pattern are in the description box. The finished shawl measures 60 inches unstretched and 67 inches after the yarn relaxed. Instructions for adjusting the sizing is in the written pattern. My wingspan is 63 and the shawl fits me nicely. (I think I said 56 inches in the video).

Can I use a 6.5 hook instead? Would that be too tight and stiff?

You are so welcome! I like music but I couldn't find one that everyone seemed to like so no music it is, just avoid any slightly longer then desired silence.
Love this! Thank you! I think I’ll start by making my pockets, that way I’ll learn the stitch patterns. Thanks for making it so simple yet gorgeous!

Of all the pocket shawls I've looked at and watched tutorials, your pattern is my most favorite. Am going to get my yarn I've already purchased for a pocket shawl, and I'm starting it tonight! Thank you so much. This one is so pretty, and your tutorial is easy to follow along.👍

This is a well done video. The high contrast between the background and the project and the text makes it easy to see what you’re doing and your pacing is great. I am definitely going to make this. Thank you!

Hi Lindsey, I have watched a lot of tutorials for the pocket shawl and this is the best one! You're not jabbering about materials needed, you're not all over the place with explaining the stitches and what you're doing, you're giving details as you go along and you're not leaving anyone behind. For someone that cannot understand patterns, thank you. Thank you for having patience when it comes to explaining everything. I will be making this shawl!

Glad it was helpful! But just a note, remember that written instructions in videos have to be super abbreviated. So occasionally check out the actual written pattern to help learn how to read a pattern and you might find it easier than expected. Example: I think row 1 is Written "SC 150" in the video but the written pattern says "Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from the hook. SC in next 149 CH."

Winding Road Crochet I am a much better visual learner! 😂. So thankful for you tube tutorials! My Gramma taught me how to crochet when I was little and am so happy to be doing it again! I want to share with my granddaughters now 😊

@@juliewilliams957 my grandmother taught me too when I was very young, around 8 yrs I would say. I too really can't read a written pattern but when a tutorial also has the pattern available I like to follow along with the person doing the tutorial while also reading the directions. I am getting better at it. What really trips me up are the directions that are written inside ( ) and have the * by them. For whatever reason I just can't seem to be able to wrap my head around what exactly to do. I'll get it eventually. The tutorials that also have the directions on the screen while the stitches are being worked seem to be the best for me but not a lot of creators do that for some reason. Even when the directions are on screen it's a good idea to cross reference the actual pattern in case the creator is simplifying the directions on screen like she stated above. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who crochets but never learned to read written directions. Honestly I don't remember my grandmother ever using a written pattern. Usually if she saw something she likes she would look at it closely and study what's done then she just recreated it from memory with her knowledge and skills at crocheting. She could also play the piano and guitar by ear. Never took a lesson in her life but she was very talented that way so I'm wondering if the way she could play by ear and crochet simply by looking at a finished piece is because her brain was wired a little differently. Unfortunately I didn't inherit her ability to do this but I have a grandson who's very talented with his saxophone and can play by ear but he also had weekly private lesson for 2 yrs. It's funny how this kind of thing skips around a family. God bless and hope you have a great day?! 🕊️🕯️🙏💛
What a beautiful stitch pattern! I am making my hubby a lapghan with this yarn and hope I have leftover so I can get right to making myself one of these!! If not, I'll be heading to Joann's to get some more :-)
