Crochet cat ear beanie tutorial || Beginner friendly
This video is a crochet cat ear beanie tutorial. It is easy to follow and informs you on everything you will need.
To make the cat ear beanie you will need to know how to do a slipknot, chain, single crochet, slip stitch and double crochet.
This pattern can be a no sew, however, I do sew in my ends.
Tutorial written step-by-step:
The yarn used in this tutorial is Bonus chunky yarn (100g) along with a 6mm hook.
-
Make a slip knot and chain till it reaches between 11 and 12 inches.
Then chain an extra 2 stitches and Double crochet into the 3rd chain from the hook.
Continue to double crochet all the way along.
-
Then chain 1 and turn your work
For the next rows double crochet in the back loops only
(Repeat this and use stitch markers to ensure no stitches are missed).
-
Continue this until it fits around your head
-
Fold the beanie in half and then slip stitch along the side.
You should be left with a tube shape.
Single crochet along the top to close one end of the tube.
-
Cut the yarn with about 5 inches extra.
Sew the ends.
-
Finally, fold and done! :D

just a tip, at the end of the row you can chain 3 and turn your work and insert your hook in the 2nd stitch, what it does is makes sure that the edges are straight. I did this and the beanie turned out amazing. Great tut 🩷

I made this and it turned out soo pretty better than anything I buy from stores 💕 it took a while and these comments are saying it took a lot of yarn but for me I still have like one third of my yarn left after completing this. Here are some things I did to make it look better: • after making it you can’t see the cat ears as well and the placement is wrong so in order to “excentuate” the ears you can: -easy way: flip it inside out, use a safety pin to connect the two ends at the top of the beanie where you want the cat ears to start from. Flip it inside out again and then wear it. -long-lasting way: sew the circumference of the beanie together and leave behind the corners you want the cat ears to be. •I used thinner yarn and a 4.5 cm hook that’s why this project didn’t use up much yarn for me. •do NOT make the height till 10 cm. Thanks to these comments I made it 8cm beforehand. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for this!! This was super easy to make and follow and honestly I'm mad at myself for not making it sooner since I've done so many other more difficult projects lol 2 things though I wanted to note for people wanting to make this: -I used a thicker yarn that required a size 8 hook and I used the entire skein of yarn! It was about 100 yards of yarn I think; was surprised since I wasn't expecting it to take so much yarn but I think the ribbed knit look of it possibly uses more yarn (although it's great because it allows the hat to stretch a bit to fit comfortably on your head) -Also idk if it's because I used a chunkier yarn but tbh the 11-12in for the height was WAY too long imo-on my finished beanie I end up folding it twice to look natural but this makes the folded part very bulky; if you only intend to fold it once you can probly take a couple inches off the height part -if I made this again I'd do maybe 8in (if you have your own beanie at home you can reference the height and it would probably help-with this style the top of the hat is flush against the top of your head so really the extra length is only used for having room to fold the bottom)

I used 2 strands together in different colours of worsted weight acrylic yarn for chunkiness and a variegated look and am quite pleased with the result! I will say the suggested height was too long for me so I'd recommend maybe 8-9 inches instead. Also this was extremely humbling for my ginormous head size 😭🤣

If you still don't know how, you wrap the yarn around your hook once, then go into the stitch, yarn over and pull through so you have 3 loops on the hook. Yarn under and pull through the first two loops, then yarn under again and pull through all the way. Typically if I don't know how to do a stitch, I'll slow the video down to 0.5 or 0.25 to watch how somebody makes the stitch in question.
