Crochet Cat Beanie - In-depth Tutorial for Beginners - Quick & Easy Pattern

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Let's crochet a Cat Beanie - Cat Hat! This tutorial is beginner-friendly and the FREE pattern is included!
The Cat Ear Beanie crochet tutorial was the first video I've ever uploaded on this channel and it received much more love than I could ever imagine. Over a year, ABoC Studio is reaching 100k. So here I've re-created this tutorial and improved it in every way as a THANK YOU to all of you that support me 💞sending love💞
✨RELATED INFO
• Using METER as unit to determine the amount of yarn is the closest to accurate, and applicable for all yarn-category (you can always find meter info on the yarn label). Meanwhile, using gram would be kinda risky, because with the same amount of grams you may get more or less yarn depending on types of material (E.g. cotton yarn is heavier than acrylic. So, with 50gr of No. 4 cotton you'll get about 80 meters BUT 50gr of No. 4 acrylic you'll get at least 100 meters). Ultimately, it's always better to have more yarn than NOT enough, so you may wanna buy a little extra just in case!
• Measuring/Tailor tape: You can measure with the tape the same way I did with the yarn in the video (1:33), and take note of the measurement for later use. This is very helpful especially when the person you're making this beanie for is not with you, since they can do on their own so that you can cut out the piece of yarn accordingly. Make sure that the yarn is slightly stretched-out before cutting, so the length would be more accurate! The ears look best when the hat fits well.
• TURNING is for the sake of straightening the chain line, which is visible on finished piece (the line created by the chain 2 that you make after slip-stitching to join each round). If you don't turn your work, the shape of your piece would still be fine, but the chain line will be tilted, which is not a big deal if you don't mind. As long as you still keep the same number of stitches on each row/round, your project will stay in shape! Nevertheless, "turning" is one of the basics in crochet. So I'd recommend that it's good practice to turn when the pattern tells you to ;)
✨The Cat Beanie - Cat Ear Hat is definitely a cute gift for your family and friends, or yourself. I hope you enjoy it. If you have any question, feel free to comment below. I will reply as soon as I can :")

  • @ABoCStudio

    @ABoCStudio

    4 ай бұрын

    If your beanie's shape still look good then you don't have to redo it at all! No worries!!! turning is for the sake of the straight chain line (the line on the whole piece created by the chains that you make after slip-stitch to join each round), if you don't turn your work, the shape of your piece would still be fine, but the chain line will be tilted. so if you don't mind that then it's not a big deal✨ (as long as you still have the right number of stitches after each round, then your project will stay in shape)

    So, i had started loosing stitches when slip stitch joining rows. I decided i wasnt going to frog it, and just went with it, turns out it was a good thing! the hat would have been way too loose. I ended up throwing a couple decreases in also and i was making it like 11 stitches too big 😅 its still kinda loose but its coming together. The ears are WAY too big though. Oh well, its for me anyways! AND its my first hat project! When she says count stitches on each row... LISTEN! 😂

    Sounds like you have accidentally increased stitches on each row! you can always keep track of the stitch-number by counting the first row and keep it the same in 2nd, 3rd row,... then after just a few more rows you'll be able to keep it the same all the time without counting 💫

    You say to follow the same pattern until the hat is about 21 inches. I'm confused because that doesn't seem correct. Your hat looks like it is less than 12 inches tall. 21 inches seems way too long & at least twice the length of the hat you made in the video.
