    From my experience, I never liked Tuff Glide lubrication. It always got gritty after a couple of open and closes even after cleaning the knife. KPL or Daiwa reel oil. Those really improve the action. Give them a shot if you are interested. You wont regret it!

  • @CoyoteEDC

    I use KPL or tuff glide, usually whichever is closest when I am re-assembling a knife. Really depends also, Tuff Glide is thinner but runs a bit more when first applied. Thanks for watching.

    My Pilar (Micarta/D2 - thumb hole) has bronze washers and even after taking it apart, cleaning and polishing the washers/internals, and living it up, it's still a pretty crummy action. 🥱

    Never knew hot water can loosen up the threadlock. I have some trouble unscrewing my pivot screw. Idk if it's red or lots of blue threadlock. Will it still work for red one in hot water?

    How come you can tighten your pivot all the way down and it isn’t stiff. When I tighten mine it doesn’t open anymore When I loosen it, it becomes off centered.

  • @CoyoteEDC

    @CoyoteEDC

    Was it the pivot screw? If you are able to get it back in, it may be just wiser to leave it alone and still have a functional knife. I doubt CRKT sells spares for these, and finding a match may require you buy a new, cheaper model pilar to swap out with.

    You might be able to dremel in a slot to make it an improvised flathead, but it only works if the screw head has enough material and sticks out enough from the scales to avoid scratching the scales.
