Like all philosophers are so did Allama iqbal take inspired from Nietzsche and some other names u mentioned. Khudi is just one aspect of Iqbals views there are numerous other aspects which people dont consider. You probably need to study Iqbal from the write person. Your viewpoints on folderol religion actually Align With Allama iqbals. He Wanted to make Muslims understand the fact there potential was being suppressed and they need to wake up. The main issue is that we have quantity, but we don't have any quality while reverse is true for European countries.

Allah iqbal was “Arif”. 2+2=4 can’t understand the philosophy of “selfhood”. In every country we have these kinds of 2+2=4 but Allama Iqbal was like: “Ki Muhammad Se Wafa To Hum Tere Hain, Yeh Jahan Cheez hai kya Loh o qalam tere hain”. I rest my case after this phenomenal sher which is beyond the range of 2+2=4. ☺️

A very true example for those who doesn't have enough knowledge about a topic and try to teach the topic at least you have to study about a topic to say something for the cause of spreading knowledge very immature approach

Hoodbhoy is right about how we follow Iqbal generally. But it's not the case that Iqbal meant it to be followed like that. He got the argument slightly wrong.

Actually Hoobhoy has not understood Iqbal. To understand Iqbal one has to study Quran and history of Islam and life of the prophet.

He doesn't even know the concept of Khudi. Iqbal praised Einstein in his book. He praised Neitzche and 200 more philosophers. He was enlightening his nation with his knowledge and imaginations. I respect Pervez hoodbhoy. He is a great scientist but he should do criticism after knowing opponent completely.

I’m sorry, Parvez sb, Iqbal’s khudi is ‘self reliance’, which involves developing oneself to the level to make your own fate (God asking the man of his desire). I'd however like to point out that you led me to extensive reading of Iqbals poetry in whole not just the selected school syllabi of him. I found out Iqbal actually called out islamic history as islamic imperialism, he was hardly proud of it. Have I then understood you wrong that Iqbal is the cause of the blind nation of Pakistan? Iqbal actually wrote of Hindu/Muslim unity. Mazhab nahi sikhata aapas main ber rakhna Hindi hain hum watan hai Hindustan hamara. then again he says, Miir e arab ko aai thandi hawa jahan se mera watan wohi hai mera watan wohi hai, refering to Hadith about India and its humanity. He even says Yunaanion ko jis ne hairan kar diya tha mera watan wohi hai, referring to the fact that Pythgorean school and others actually took their inspiration from Indian universities of old like Nalanda. Sadly Iqbal has been the greatest victim of the jingoism from mullas and you know who....Habib Jalib rightfully said, when he was being censored by Zia Jahan Iqbal bhi nazr e khat e tansikh ho jalib Wahan tujh ko shikayat hai tera kehna hai khatray main (Where even Iqbal is sacrificed to censor, there you claim to be shut off ?)

@@muhammadsaad3513 Iqbals urdu poetry first book Bang e Dara first print came out in 1924, after Iqbal's reviews, modifications, editions and deletions. If Iqbal was not calling Hindustan his Watan, he could delete that poem as well but he did not. The strategy to time slice his poetry in 1905,1908 etc was not present in any of his own published books this is an innovation done by jingoistic groups after his death specially after 1940/47. @@muhammadsaad3513 You have even gone on to misname the poem as ترانہ ہندی while its original title is ہندوستانی بچوں کا قومی گیت And it mentions نانک،چشتی وحدت کی لے سنی تھی دنیا نے جس مکاں سے Wehdat means unity and he is clearly refering to Dunya, clearly calling unity among all not just muslims which you are trying to propogate still. We will all see sooner or later who was participating in blind jingoistic divisive propaganda and using Iqbal's name for it and who was truly conveying his message of unity, in Allah's court sooner or later brother sooner or later you will face it.

He is not worth a dime. It is too unfortunate for him that he suffers from self deception. Average Pakistani is not literate, and such guys flourish on (self) and their ignorance. we should always talk with facts and figures. especially when you claim you are a "physicist", in Pakistan At least 20 million graduate students have studied physics and math in govt and private schools along with private extra tutor classes till intermediate, and hardly any Pakistani students have heard about Khudi or studied Allama Iqbal, but they study 12 hours a day to crack CSS exam after this what bureaucrats and oxford graduates have done with Pakistan still you blame Allama Iqbal ???

Prof Hoobhouy has come to an age when one purposely creates little turbulence to check if the world still revolves around him or one of last efforts to fit in the trends... I am deeply aggrieved on such malignant remarks about Iqbal but as I said he has come to an age .... So I'll let it pass...
