This vid was JUST what I needed for a family meal this weekend, thanks so much! Speaking of just what one needs, look for powdered buttermilk in your grocery's baking aisle. It's shelf-stable for a year until you open it, and then keeps in the fridge for monnnnnnths. 4 tablespoons powdered buttermilk + 1 cup water = 1 cup of buttermilk so close to fresh that you can use it to make buttermilk pie without telling the difference... and no carton of leftover buttermilk taking up space in your fridge until you finally guiltily throw it out! The buttermilk pancake recipe on the back of the Sacco buttermilk container is AMAZING and has been my go-to since I discovered it in the 90's. Thanks again for this how-to!

Sis…thank you so much for this. Funny thing, I made a buttermilk pie last week. Why? Trying using up some buttermilk so I didn’t have to throw it away. Imma definitely check out the powder. 👩🏽‍🍳♥️

@@CalibamaCookingwithChefLorious you're oh so welcome! Definitely try that pancake recipe on the back of the container. Oh yeah, and buttermilk powder can be a real lifesaver for some recipes when you realize too late that you're out of regular milk. Hugs!!!

@@CalibamaCookingwithChefLorious OMG. They came out SO. GOOD. It was a group campout chicken-fried-steak dinner with friends where we each contributed something, and lady... everything was great because we're all good cooks but those fried okra were the best part by FAR. Everyone swooooooned at their first bite! And it was easy to do while camping, too! Thanks again and huge hugs from Texas

I haven’t had fried okra in years. It’s heavily ingrained in my childhood memories because of Furr’s Cafeteria. We would go there after church and I absolutely loved the fried okra. Watching this recipe brought on a pleasant nostalgic feeling. Now I need to try making it.

That’s wonderful news! Can’t wait until you try the recipe. I hated okra too…this is the only way I can stomach it! 👩🏽‍🍳

Ma'am, I love to cook, and follow a lot of KZread channels for cooking. I was just given a gallon bag of fresh okra, and love fried okra, but I could never get it to turn out well. I'm subscribed and absolutely am going to dig through your other videos, you have a great personality and explain your process very well. You spoke to my heart and mindset of what I feel about okra, I have tried to use it in soups and gumbo, but it was always just too much. Thank you, seriously.
