I love thunder and lighting, it’s so relaxing for me, reminds me of the power of God
This vid was JUST what I needed for a family meal this weekend, thanks so much! Speaking of just what one needs, look for powdered buttermilk in your grocery's baking aisle. It's shelf-stable for a year until you open it, and then keeps in the fridge for monnnnnnths. 4 tablespoons powdered buttermilk + 1 cup water = 1 cup of buttermilk so close to fresh that you can use it to make buttermilk pie without telling the difference... and no carton of leftover buttermilk taking up space in your fridge until you finally guiltily throw it out! The buttermilk pancake recipe on the back of the Sacco buttermilk container is AMAZING and has been my go-to since I discovered it in the 90's. Thanks again for this how-to!

Sis…thank you so much for this. Funny thing, I made a buttermilk pie last week. Why? Trying using up some buttermilk so I didn’t have to throw it away. Imma definitely check out the powder. 👩🏽🍳♥️

@@CalibamaCookingwithChefLorious you're oh so welcome! Definitely try that pancake recipe on the back of the container. Oh yeah, and buttermilk powder can be a real lifesaver for some recipes when you realize too late that you're out of regular milk. Hugs!!!

@@CalibamaCookingwithChefLorious OMG. They came out SO. GOOD. It was a group campout chicken-fried-steak dinner with friends where we each contributed something, and lady... everything was great because we're all good cooks but those fried okra were the best part by FAR. Everyone swooooooned at their first bite! And it was easy to do while camping, too! Thanks again and huge hugs from Texas
WOW you solution to fry okra is simply genius!
Fried my first batch of okra with your vid playing by my side. Thank you! Learned so much 💕
"That's not Okra, that's some fried stuff" lmao love itttttt
Ummmmm, I miss Church’s 🍗, a bite of chicken, a bite of jalapeño, and a bite of biscuit...heaven!! Thank you for the okra recipe 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👩🏾🍳👩🏾🍳👩🏾🍳
Thank you!!! This was the best fried okra video I’ve found and you’re so fun to watch. Keep em coming!
I’m glad you did the video with the thunder in the background. It reminds me of home 😌.

I WAS JUST GONNA COMMENT THIS LOL I felt safe after I heard that thunder
I made this with fresh okra it was amazing; my Mom always uses the frozen. I couldn’t tell a difference. I had my portion and some of my husbands too. LOL Have a blessed day!
I haven’t had fried okra in years. It’s heavily ingrained in my childhood memories because of Furr’s Cafeteria. We would go there after church and I absolutely loved the fried okra. Watching this recipe brought on a pleasant nostalgic feeling. Now I need to try making it.
Thank you chef!! I’m gonna shock my auntie the next time I see her with a batch of this ❤️
This is perfect! Was trying to explain fried okra to a friend from across the pond, and you make it like exactly what I grew up with. Having that Tony Chachere's in the flour is a must! Planning to make some tomorrow.
Never seen her videos before this. Got to the end of the intro when she says what she’s cooking and subscribed right then and there. I knew right away this woman knows what to do in the kitchen. “I can’t tell you who to sock it to” love it.

Yes!!! A southern woman making southern fried okra!! Just like my Mom used to make. Thx for the recipe!!!
So glad I watched your video! I had some beautiful okra to use and I haven't fried it in years. Your method of draining off the liquid in the strainer was a big help!
Thank you for uploading! I’ve been wanting to eat fried okra for the longest time. I moved out of ATL 10 years ago to NY and I miss southern foods I can’t wait to share with my daughter.

Thank you. I have fond memories of my grandmother going out to the garden picking okra and frying it up. I'm trying your recipe tonight. Nice musical reference to the Isley Brothers by the way....more memories.

Here in Dominican Republic, I've asked a lot of people if they have had fried okra and not one single person has ever said yes. I just bought some to make tonight. There's no Tony Cacherie's so it will just have to be salt and pepper. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!

I've loved fried okra since my boyhood years in Alabama. I thought my grandmother's was good, but I just tried your recipe, and WOW! By far the best I've ever tasted! Even though I'm not much of a cook. Crisp and tasty! I can't wait to make it for my Kentucky friends. Thanks, sister!
Absolutely love this! I have a black desk that is identical to this. I was going to toss it and buy a white one but decided to keep it after this video! Good job
Hi Chef Lorious! Fried okra...it's a culinary delight in a class all by itself! To add another layer of flavor, I add some hot sauce to the buttermilk in which I soak the okra in addition to seasoning the flour-corn meal mixture . Thanks so much for another video! ☺

Ma'am, I love to cook, and follow a lot of KZread channels for cooking. I was just given a gallon bag of fresh okra, and love fried okra, but I could never get it to turn out well. I'm subscribed and absolutely am going to dig through your other videos, you have a great personality and explain your process very well. You spoke to my heart and mindset of what I feel about okra, I have tried to use it in soups and gumbo, but it was always just too much. Thank you, seriously.
