Crispy Fried Silk Tofu - Đậu non chiên xù

This naturally vegetarian dish is a soy version of cheese sticks. It's so crispy on the outside and soft like panna cotta on the inside. It makes perfect beer food, finger food, snacks or appetizer.

    Freeze the silken tofu, then cover with bater and crumbs. Place on a metal wired frying spoon and wait for it to defrost. add to oil. no silken tofu breaking

    Lol is silken the same as silk tofu? My silken tofu just breaks apart soon as I try to touch it...😪 Doing my best to pat it dry gently. Any suggestions?

    it is and its always a pain in the arse, you get used to it. I often pick it up by angling the paper towel underneath to get my fingers under it. Dont use tongs on it- they cut right through.

    So i know its been a year but try and buy extra firm tofu. It wont break as silk does

    I'm a vegan, but I can easily organize this. I've made very similar before, it wasn't marinated before though. Egg-less variety for me, of course. I've never deep fried tofu though, just a drizzle to an inch or so of oil in pan. How soft is this tofu?? I have ex firm, firm, and silken soft like for smoothies.

    I'm afraid the answer is no :( Using egg yolks is necessary in this recipe because it helps the bread crumbs stick onto the tofu cubes.

    It is silken. In vietnam, the tofu are handmade so they always shaped in a square. Not every country has the same products

    You can always just make a flour+water slurry to make the tofu sticky enough for the breadcrumbs
