Aurelian was EXCEPTIONAL.

Fantastic video. Been looking forward to this upload
If Pupienus and Balbinus are not the worst named Roman Emperors I have to hear what is worse then those two.

Avrelian, praises be vpon Him, stands as the *only* emperor to be in the “Exceptional” rank. This is all that matters in making this list a 10/10 list.

Great discussion PS Aurelian gang
I want to dispute the idea that Alexander was anything more than actively bad, if not aweful. As you say, length of time proves nothing. And what Alexander did was govern so horribly that he set up all of what came after him. The bureaucracy, the focus on the military as a tool of power, the mismanagement of said military, and his bad policies are what led to the disaster of his last year, and of the emperors after him.
21/6/242. You really need to turn that music up to maximum volume. It's not irritating or distracting in any way and it's totally necessary to drown out the narrative.
Like Aurelius Victor and Zosimus, I am also a fan of Trajanus Decius.

I have a question that I was hoping you could help me with. Did the Eastern Romans celebrate the 2000 year anniversary of the founding of the city of Rome? I thought they might have since they were the descendants of it? I know they celebrated the 1000 year anniversary, but I didn’t know if they celebrated the 2000 year anniversary. Did the know 2000 years had passed or did they even care? Thanks.

I believe the two thousandth anniversary would fall in the thirteenth century during the period of the Nicaean Empire. As far as I am aware no such celebration took place.
@gm2407
Жыл бұрын
I wonder if Innocent IV would have celebrated 2000 years since the foundation of the city or if he forgot. 1247 AD I believe. Baldwin II was Latin Emperor in the East. John Doukas III Vatazez was the Nicean Emperor. Manuel I Trebezond Empire, Michael II Komnenos Doukas was Despot of Epirus. Demetrios Angelos Doukas was Emperor of Thessalonica but that fell the year before. Wouldn't be surprised if they all missed it due to tenuous connections to Rome and the distance from it's pagan past.

Gallienus: Haha!! I can be put in the Exceptional category like Aurelian, and better than Trajan and Augustus if only I had restored Rome and made it great again! I promise if I held a punitive campaign against the Persians, the Indians would see my army looting spices and treasures. The mispronunciation of names like Balbinus and Maximinus grates on my nerves. I feel like one presenting themselves as able to pontificate on history...should know how to pronounce the proper nouns of that history. It's not like I want a pure Latin reconstruction, but at least the "I" in both of those names should be pronounced like the classical EE, not like EYE.
