The fact that this doesn’t have more views is criminal, I’ve never seen such a comprehensive and well-thought out comparative analysis of OG Crisis Core and Reunion. I think they both have their strengths and weaknesses but overall you did an amazing job showing each of those aspects of both games. Well done!

It not being a proper Remake is such a lost oppertunity. Hell, there should have been two endings and a post-game. First we get the original ending which is how it happened, but then right as it's about to go to black the screen flickers and we hear statics and time rewinds and now we get to experience the Remake ending as well as play some more after it, getting to Midgar and it ending proper there.

I played rebirth. When the crisis core theme started playing in gongaga, i lost myself in the excitement then nearly cried about how sad the message was.

This was my favorite game on the PSP, and I'm happy to finally see it get ported to modern systems! Also, really great video!

Zack’s New English Voice sounds like Sonic so cringy Rick Gomez was the perfect English voice for Zack

Excellent review! I couldnt stand Genesis. And the fact the scenes where he recites Loveless at nauseum are unskippable, makes me rate the game lower.

Amazing breakdown of this game. I only played the remaster - having never owned a PSP so I was grateful to finally be able to experience Zack's story and Cloud's origin after all these years. I'm not going to mention your comments on the story for those avoiding spoilers but I agree wholeheartedly. I'm just glad they didn't do the Sephiroth walking into the flame animation, like they do on EVERY OTHER FF7 content. Also, shout out to the transitions from the PSP to Remake version, that was seamlessly done.

That materia stat fusion thing is really simple. The bigger stat bonus gets even bigger and carries over. The smaller bonus is used up for the bigger number's bonus. At least that's what the tutorial you popped open says, in layman's terms. I'm at halfway through the video right now, and with how many ways the game seems to give you resources, it's kinda frustrating. I like having at least a little difficulty so I can better mess around with the battle system. Ah well, original isn't going anywhere.

I hated what Reunion did to the track “Timely Ambush”. They just straight up ripped all the hype out of it, and the only plausible explanation I can assume for the reason why is that “Let’s the Battle Begin” had like 10 different remade versions just in VII Remake alone.

I honestly forget Lezard existed in my first playthrough.

Hello there, about the music.... Are you talking about the original ost right? Because most of the remastered tracks sounds very washed out versions of the original soundtrack.

I think the only voice actor that's worse is Zack. Thankfully the VA improved a bunch by Rebirth, he's actually pretty great in that.

They should've copy+pasted 7R's version of Midgar into Crisis Core Reunion.... Such a missed opportunity!

Sadly they're made in different engines (7R was made in Unreal 4, but it's not clear what engine Crisis Core Reunion was made in, but it is based off old code). I don't think it would have been so easy to copy/paste; but I agree with the idea - would have looked amazing.
