TIP: If you do this in a cold environment, warm the connector before crimping it to the cable. Working in a ≈ 35° F room, I didn’t do this with a Keadic brand connector, which cracked along its width, yet performed normally.

Is it possible to crimp multiple connectors along the cable in series? I'm looking to make a power bus cable for a fully DIY modular synth. My main concern is, given how the connectors attach, the cable will be too weak to be of much use beyond the first connector

Once you have crimped the cable and go to cut off the excess, it doesn't seem to me that it's ready to fall off. I think your chances are good based upon the design of the connector, which has contacts that are designed to hug the wire not cut through them.

Would it be possible to design an adapter made for crimping ribbon cable dip sockets?

I don't even know where you would get such a connector. I based my adapter assortment on availability of connector. Where can I find one of those?

@@retrofriends I guess the more accurate term is ribbon cable dip socket header. For example 8200-40-R on Jameco electronics for a 40 pin one. The smaller 16 pin ones were used on the Apple II for example for the keyboard and joystick connectors

Brand/model and/or source of that wire cutter (not the crimper) you're using? Thanks for any info. I know you are busy. Best. L.
