Note: If this is the first time you’re hearing about the Cricut Venture, I recommend you watch my Venture Review video first at • NEW Cricut Venture 25"... - it tells you all about the Venture, what it does, and what it makes. Lots of cool stuff! You’ll find that video over at jennifermaker.com/venture. And also, my sincere gratitude to Cricut for allowing me early access to the Venture so I could test it and make this video for you - do note, however, that I insisted on purchasing everything you see in this video, and this video is not sponsored. I buy all my own stuff, just like you do.
The Cricut Venture comes in a massive, but well packed, box. Before you open it, make sure you have a table or counter with about 34” by 42” of free space ready to place it on. In the back here is a tidy little box, and inside you’ll find the Quick Start Guide, User Guide, and Warranty Information. Note that the User Guide has a handy diagram of all the parts of the Venture - refer to this if you get stuck and can’t find a specific part I mention in this video.
Also in the box are these Roll Support brackets - these help support vinyl rolls if you didn’t get the Docking Stand, which does not come with the Cricut Venture unless you order it (and I highly recommend it). There’s also a little cleaning kit - you’ll want to do a little cleaning every once in a while, more on that later. And the power and USB cables - there’s both a USB-C as well as a USB-A Adapter in here, which is nice.
A new Performance Blade and Housing are already in the Cricut Venture in Clamp B. The Performance Blade is specially designed to withstand the high speeds of the Venture.
Lift the Venture out of the box (note that it weighs about x pounds), and you’ll see another box in the bottom - this box has a mat support extension in it for big mats. And there’s also a roll of material for your first cuts - in my roll, I had about 30 inches of black removable Smart Vinyl, and six feet of white removable Smart Vinyl. If you’re unfamiliar with Smart Vinyl, that’s Cricut’s brand of vinyl that can go into your cutting machine without needing any machine mat.
So now we head to our computer to start setup - go to cricut.com/setup to get started. Just choose Cutting Machine, then Venture. You’ll be directed to download Cricut Design Space, which is free. Just open up Cricut Design Space, go to the menu in the upper right corner, and choose New Product Setup, then choose Smart Cutting Machine, and select Cricut Morpheus. The first step is to place the Cricut Venture flush with the edge of a sturdy table or counter. It’s fine to use your kitchen counter or dining room table if that’s what you have, Cricut designed it with this in mind. You’ll want the edge of your machine to be aligned with the edge of your surface, like I’ve placed it here. Putting it on the edge like this is necessary so your materials and mats can feed smoothly without needing a lot of space - this is one of the cool features of the Cricut Venture!

Thank you Jennifer for the great tutorial. I don’t think I’ll be in any rush to buy this machine, I’ve watched a few other tutorials on it also but for some reason it’s just not winning me over, having said that,I’d like to wish all who have purchased a Venture a very happy and exciting crafting experience and look forward to seeing all the lovely items you all make.❤

Thank you for this video. There were a few pieces that I didn't know what they were and this helped!
Thank you just ordered one!
I can't imagine needing a machine this large for me at this time, but it has some great features. I have a tip that applies to any mat. Before I remove the protective cover, I place a small sticker on the up side of the cover near the hanging hook. I also then, after I remove the cover, I place a matching small sticker on the mat itself just next to where the cover sticker is. Then I not only always know which side is up but which mat goes to what cover.

I needed a wide-format cutter and had researched a few other brands since Cricut didn’t make one. I was just about to order another brand when the announcement was made. I have several cutting machines, but have been a Cricut fan since I bought the Create all those years ago. Glad I waited! Unboxing mine today, and I appreciate this excellent video! Thanks, Jennifer!

Hi, Jennifer, As always, you have provided a wonderful, well thought out explanation of another CRICUT product. After seeing so many other content creators review the CRICUT Venture fee of charge, I just KNEW that CRICUT would be sending the new VENTURE to you at no cost as well. You do so much for CRICUT. If anyone deserves to receive the new machine at no cost, it should be YOU. Why did you have to pay for this machine? You do do much, and with your positive energy. Thank you for sharing the unboxing of the new CRICUT Venture. I love the speed and overall functionality of the Venture, but I don’t like that it only takes the CRICUT Smart Vinyl to do matless cutting, and I DO NOT agree with the excessive pricing of this product. if anything, this would probably make a happy purchase during a BLACK FRIDAY or CYBER MONDAY deals. PS. It would have been nice to see the Venture cut and draw in real-time so that we could see the speed of this machine that cuts up to 75 feet.

I didn't have to pay for the machine -- they offered it free. I insisted on paying for it, because I believe that I will feel more able to give an unbiased review if I pay for it myself. Call it old fashioned, but when someone gives me something for free, I feel inclined to overlook more stuff. So I pay for everything myself so I can do the best job for you. Also, I showed how the Venture draws in real time in my first video at kzread.info/dash/bejne/moRh0JptfdDHp84.html
Yay, I purchased the Venture. They didn't have the stand, I'll have to get that later. I can't wait to see all the amazing videos you add with this machine.

I totally relate! I have a Joy and an explore air thats pretty old but I got sick of slicing large projects. I got the Cameo 4 pro but I ran into problems constantly and I usually ended up using the explorer. I was so excited when i saw Cricut had a large format printer I pretty much ran to list my almost new Cameo and bought the Venture. I can't wait to see the fun big projects people make, especially Jennifer.
I would love to have one but I will wait til it goes down in price

I've been thinking about buying the new Venture, but couldn't make up my mind, mainly due to the price and the fact that it wasn't available in the UK until recently. I really wanted a large format machine though, so I bought a Silhouette Pro. Having tried the Silhouette software for a few weeks, I just can't get used to it and also I didn't feel that the Silhouette was as sturdily made as the Cricut machines. So today, I bit the bullet and have just ordered the Venture with the Materials Bundle and the Stand! I'm going to be like a little kid waiting for Santa Claus, which is a laugh as I just celebrated my 60th birthday in July 😂. Thank you for all your videos Jennifer (and team!), you are such a joy to watch. 💕

Can we use our 12×24 in. mats that we already have in the Venture?
@JenniferMaker

You will need to get the mats for the Venture. It can tear the other mats.
Do you know if there will be 12x12 mats for the venture? I was going to give a friend my old explorer but I'm wondering if I should hold onto it for small projects that I don't want to wrestle a large mat. It crazy how large the Cameo pro mat felt, always seemed like much more work than it should be to handle.
@JenniferMaker

No, the mats are 24" x 12" and 24" x 28". There is an attachment on the back that makes handling these pretty easy, as long as you have enough table space. 😊🌻

Okay just putting this out there if you see this *Mrs. Maker* can you make sure you tell CRICUT to go on ahead and make a 24 by 36-40 inch Mat they know good and well that people are going to want to go more than 28 inches long on this $1k machine it's just as easy as update to add more mat sizes because that's very limiting especially if you're not using smart vinyl. Cricket if you haven't learned yet stop pigeonholing us in limiting us from our creativity by limiting the products and sizes available to use. I was so excited to get this product until I noticed that your man only goes up to 28 but yet you can do anything with the smart vinyl I don't want to use Smart vinyl for this machine
