Cricut Cutaway Cards on a Cricut Joy, Explore, or Maker

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The new Cricut Cutaway Cards are the best way to make greeting cards with any Cricut machine. Yes, they were released to work with the Cricut Joy on the Joy Card Mat. However, I just had to push it to the limit and figure out how to use these Cricut cards on any machine. And I did it! These are the easiest and quickest cards you can make with your Cricut and I think you are going to love this new product from Cricut.

    Awesome video and I LOVE the idea. I will be trying this. I tried using card stock on the blue mat with my Maker and it stuck real bad and made a huge mess. I assumed it wouldn’t stick there like on the green mat. So I’m a bit Leary if the ‘sticky’ situation. I’ll take another try with the blue mat and hope for the best. I might just have to use my Cricut Joy if if sticks badly again with my mat for the Maker

    If your blue mat is too sticky for the cardstock you are using, just stick it to your shirt a few times before using.

    @@AngieHolden I bought the cutaway card mat and did my first card tonight and had a terrible time weeding it. I am guessing I needed to change the pressure for the cut. I ended up retracing the majority of the card cut lines so I could remove the pieces. LOL I can't say it was my first best experience with the cutaway cards but I intend to try again. :-) SO I am here watching your video again to see what I did wrong. HAHA

    Check to ensure your blade is installed correctly. Do you have these cards on the card mat made by Cricut? That can also effect the thickness.

    Thanks for a wonderful tutorial. Have you tried to make your own Cutaway card bases? I tried, but the double sided sticky paper I had was too strong and trying to peel off the cut pieces was hard. I think I need a less tacky paper. Any suggestions??

    I would suggest using a pin pen tool or the tweezers to peel the cutaway off. I cringe every time - it looks like you are creasing the paper. I also use the spatula to peel off the card from the card mat for the same reason.

    @AngieHolden I've seen reviews that, when weeding these cards, you could easily scratch the backer. Any ideas in how to avoid that? It's kind of why I think the backer should be added after the card is cut.

  • @AngieHolden

    @AngieHolden

    If you add the backer after it is cut you would need to piece all of your smaller pieces by hand. I just remove the pieces by hand and try not to use tools to avoid scratching.

    Hi Angie, Thank you for the video! I got a package of the cutaway cards and have destroyed two cards already. Went through and did the settings as you've outlined in the video, but as it cuts, it's scraping up the part of the cardstock that is supposed to stay. I've done default and more pressure, it got a LITTLE better with more pressure, but still scraped up the card. Any suggestions??

    @AngieHolden, perhaps do the cutaway and then add in the pretty paper with double-sided tape after the cut. No adhesive involved doing that addition after the cut.
