for those who are interested, we have been riding these bikes in this way since new. the RX has just clocked over 140 running hours without being touched. still starts runs and operates like new. the R has done 60 hours. I am comprrssion and cylender leakage testing it every 10 hours and has not dropped a single psi from new. I take my hat off to all the designers, and not just on the hondas. These engines are a damn site tougher than the mid 00's crf engine and with some regular maintenance they will put up with the beat downs you give them. Yes, they are a competition engine and all the limiter will eventually catch up with us but that is what rebuilds are for..

I have the 450rx too.I’ve ridden it twice and it dies at low to zero rpms as I’m coming to a sharp turn or just completing the trim and dies as I give the gas. Do you have that problem too?

​@@MrHammGutsnGlory Heart my 450RX too. Perfect hare-scramble machine! Yeah like the other guy said, its prob your clutch technique in the corners. The Honda R engines are tuned very aggressively, and are designed in that for you to be on the throttle pretty hard nearly all of the time. Try keeping your revs up but modulate your power delivery w the clutch. Its not a beginner bike (very kindly), and so will demand a skilled clutch hand. Made to go fast. Thats why they overheat if you idle for more than a few mins. It took me some getting used to how much power this bike wants to throw down and how badly it just wants to go fast. But im never going back to smaller bikes! As an afterthought, be damned sure that youre cold start valve isnt engaged after you get it started. That could be a yuge repair! And hopefully not the source of your issue..😬

Takes me back to when I used to race and run Enduros here in mid Wales. The bogs on the Eppynt ranges are immense fun, although some are so deep that once I had to haul a CRF 450 out of one with the rider over waist deep clinging on to it caked in the stuff and looking like a bog monster. Fortunately for him that day I was marshalling and riding a 6x6 Polaris due to having my young daughter for the weekend and not riding my XR400 due to it being bulletproof and like a tractor. The next year this chap came up to me in the pits of another race we(WTRA)were running and hugged me, I didn’t have a clue who he was until he told me it was him with the CRF and told me he reckoned I definitely saved his bike and most likely his life, as there was no way he was going to let go of it😂

As soon as I heard that rev limiter in the swampy area I saved the video

family farm mate, they dont mind at all 😂 the aggressive map on the rx is the same as the medium map of the r model. but they both go really well. bear in mind that both ecus can me re-mapped. cutting the sides out of the air box and after market mufflers help a lot with low down torque. i can almost idle my r around now. and obviously the rx has a bigger tank, slightly softer suspension, it has a stand and a 18 inch rear wheel

@@MrHammGutsnGlory even though the rx is a trail bike it is based of the motocross bike. they hate ridiculously low rpms in corners with a passion. since 450 gearing is taller than say a 250 they can stall out in corners easily. are you entering the corner in the correct gear? are you covering the clutch in tight corners? is your style of riding too tight and slow for the gearing?

I am looking to get a crf 450 of some model. Ive riden mtb my whole life and a dirtbike a couple times. Old rm 500. I riden my friends quads. I have finally come to a position of hard works paying off. A friend and I go to private land in WV and it's my concern how dirtbikes do on hills. LMFAO jokes on me I won't have a problem at all. I can't wait to get that bike

You should get a 450x for that type of stuff, the x has rlly good low end torque with good gas mileage well sorta, depending on how you use it and front and rear light for night riding

there are two buttons, one is the kill switch and the other is the mapping button. gives you three options, mild standard and wild. the mapping button is also used for launch control maps but who needs that for trail 😂

Enduro Pleszówki I have exactly 268 hours on my Yz250f with no rebuilds or valve adjustments and it probably has 3 hours total of rev limiter and it still somehow starts first kick

**EDIT** The crf450rx has just been pulled down for it's first maintenance rebuild since new at 200 hours (no, that's not a typo). The cylinder was well within factory limits, had one or two marks in it and cross hatching was like new. We rebuilt the crank (which only had a tiny amount of wear on the washers) and replaced main bearings and the crank seals. There was literally nothing else wrong with it. Oils been done every 10ish hours and air filter kept clean. This bike has seen it's fair share of abuse untill the rebuild and it shows how bulletproof these bikes are now if regular maintenance is carried out

the ground was quite wet that day so i was up a gear from what would be ideal rev range to get more traction on the hill. its also safer because if you loose balance its easy to make it stall to re adjust. its quite a steep hill so was a bit touch and go 😂 also being in a higher gear means more wheel speed for if you need some pace quickly. more likely to grip at higher wheel. speed

I use my 450r as a trail bike, not sure if that is the same as 'enduro'. a few of the top riders here use them in the cross country racing but i wouldnt take one to romaniacs or anything

Samir josue Hernandez personally i wouldnt use one, especially a 450r. if your wanting 450 power, try looking at a 450x. they are geared better for trails and all that. i have a 250x and its way better for trails than a 250r. but, its your choice in the end.
