One time I was driving the mako trying to park near the mine shaft with the pyjaks mission, and one scooted in front of me and I hit it, and my squad mates commented on it and I got renegade. I literally restarted the damn level cause I didn’t want that on my conscience

I would rather have shields that can take a rocket and barely be missing a bar of shield health along with access to a machine gun and heavy Cannon, then have access to a maneuverable vehicle with shields and armor that, combined, are still weaker than wet tissue paper. Not to mention the weapon on the hammerhead is a joke. Sure it's heat seeking, to a certain extent, but it's damage is crap, ESPECIALLY on Legendary. At least the Mako on Legendary difficulty can take more than one hit. The Hammerhead on Legendary, on the other hand, is almost dead after taking one hit

In ME1 I actually made a game called "Thresher Tag" Basically you had to get as close as possible to a thresher maw as you can without dying horribly. My personal best is actually ramming it's broadside. So that's my passive aggressive way of saying: the Mako is very agile if you actually practice with it

I remember forgetting there was a cannon on the Mako and not just the machine gun. Took out two thresher maws before finding out the cannon button during the fight with the third. And I was like "Oh yeah, I sniped like an asshole with this on my first playthrough" Good times in the Mako, dumping literal pounds of microscopic, hyperkinetic slugs into over grown tapeworms. Good times.

Nothing better than hitting that jump thrust at just the right time to launch the mako off the largest mountain you can find. Really made me want to climb Olympus Mons on Mars. Lol

I never found the setting to toggle it myself, but I do like how they supposedly left the old Mako controls in LE just for the madmen.

I on the other hand constantly struggled with the new controls for the mako until I found the setting in the options. It was much harder to climb hills and fight with the new controls although the Mako also didn't go flying in the direction you're going accidentally at full speed either.

@@ricksaburai The new Mako follows the direction you're pointing in and has it's physics engine kind of balanced out supposedly although I didn't see much difference in that regard. It handles a bit more smoothly when following the mouse look like it doesn't accelerate accidentally in other directions or turn wildly but can be difficult to control if you want to strafe drive while fighting and so on.

everyone hates the mako and how tedious the planet exploration was in ME:1, but it was personally my favorite part of the game and what makes it my favorite in the series. there’s something really cool about driving around alone on a vast, unexplored planet hearing weird noises and finding lost artifacts. i wish we could do that in the later games, i would much prefer that over the boring scanning we got.

A mix of them would be fine: planet exploration, side missions, scanning for resources, etc. Having variety makes the game much more entertaining, rather than making the same thing a thousand times.

Pilots and scuba divers can puke in their masks. It's designed to cope with that.

On the outside: Just a bumpy ride, nothing too bad. On the inside: Shepard laughing like a maniac, Liara gripping the safety harness for dear life, Tali trying to not throw up in her helmet, Garrus assuming the crash position, Wrex pounding on the door demanding to be let out, Kaiden paralyzed with fear, and Ashley screaming at the top of her lungs.

How I always imagined it

You know, I was relaxed AF. Didn't expect a jumpscare.

ME1 mako stuff would be a lot more enjoyable if companions had conversations like in andromeda.

And that is the reason why the SR2 didn't had a Mako. Cerberus new Shepard treats vehicles like Bond treats cars

Honestly as someone who started playing Mass Effect when Andromeda came out and played the Trilogy for the 1st time in the legendary edition, it felt scarily quiet in the Mako. Also to the ME Vets: HOW DID YOU GUYS DRIVE THAT THING WITHOUT THE BOOST HOLY HELL

The Mako is an engineering miracle that can defy even the most basic laws of physics that even everything else in ME universe abides to.

There are probably inertia dampers on board, like on spaceships, so they would barely feel a thing.

Reminds me of the jeep level in Uncharted 4 where the characters scream for their lives when you drive like a maniac

I felt so dumb the first time I was riding the mako because I had to be parked on flat terrain to get out of it but I didn’t understand that and proceeded to try to jump out the mako while I was still driving the damn thing lmao.
