Thanks so much for following this, Crestwood was a part of my life back in the 70s-90s. In a way, it's comforting to be able to watch its' final days. C'est la vie...

I remember when the mall was "open", much like the strip malls we have today. Then, because enclosing it seemed like a good idea, they did, and you had to go all the way into the mall to get to stores. My dad got his shoes at the Florsheim store. And I bought my popular Villager purse from another store. It was the mall of choice to go to when I learned to drive. Even took my car to the Sears auto shop. But things change....and time moves on. Farewell old girl.

Part of my life, as was the downtown Famous barr with the shrinking escalators as you went up from floor to floor...fond memories of my late father going to Crestwood Sears for something to fix at home, my browsing Allied Radio (later Radio Shack), and clothes (Suits at Boyds), all the fond memories are just that now...so sad...

I remember a given day in St Louis when it was announced Northwest Plaza was going to put on a roof "to increase business" and another plaza (forget name) was going to take off roof "to increase business". Both announcements on same day in same paper.

We voted for the malls to die, with our spending-choices. The video is a great historical record, but he didn't really know the history. RIP: "Crestwood Plaza - where the BIG Stores Are..."
