Richard the third's body was missing for centuries, because it was buried in an abbey, that was destroyed during the Dissolution of the Abbeys. The exact location, was found some years ago, using old illustrations of the abbey and records as a guide. His body was excavated from a car park, on the site of the abbey and reburied in Leicester Cathedral.
The princes in the Tower weren’t Tudors, they were Plantagenets (House of York). Henry VII was the first Tudor. Poorly researched.

The video is about the Tudor Era, not the Tudor family itself.
The artwork displayed during this video is incredible.
When talking about the Babington Plot you showed Mary Tudor and not Mary Stewart. The remains of both Anne Boelyn and Katherine Howard were found during a renovation during the reign of Queen Victoria and reentered in the Chapel of St. Peter Ad Vincula close to the altar. Many other historical KZread videos have shown this.
Henry didn’t change the succession by bypassing Mary and Elizabeth. At this time in England (and up until the birth of the William and Kate’s first child) Male heirs were favored over female.

@tomcat4765
Жыл бұрын
That is correct, this was called "Salic Law" and was only changed when Princess Charlotte was born to Prince William and Kate. In actual fact, Edward VI had a right as Monarch to name anyone he chose to be Heir, as he was an Absolute Monarch. This is why Queen Jane was declared Queen at his death, because while he was still able to, he named her as his Heir, because he was a devout Protestant, as she was, and Edward VI didn't want his half Sister Mary becoming Queen, as she was a Devout Catholic and Edward VI wanted England to stay Protestant.
@cl5470
Жыл бұрын
By traditional law, Mary was his only legitimate heir since protestantism was brand new. His first wife was the only one the Catholic church recognized. Elizabeth was conceived by his second wife while his first was still alive, so was never seen as legitimate by most. Edward was born to the third wife after the first two had died, byt even that marriage was seen as illegitimate because it was protestant. So they are half correct. In the eyes of most contemporaries, Henry did bypass his legitimate heir (Mary) in favor of Edward. Though he actually added all three into the line of succession, just behind Edward.
4:48 Henry VIII's son Edward was, according to the laws of succession and primogeniture, the rightful heir to the throne before either of his elder sisters. The first legitimate male heir born to the king was the heir to the throne, no matter how many sisters were born before him.
@louwinters508

Yeh I was going to say. There was no dispute. The laws of succesion were male heirs first regardless of how old his daughters were. He didn't just go with his young son Edward. Henry himself had a elder sister and she wasn't made queen of England.

That’s quite true. I watch with true interest and a healthy grain of salt. I usually go away with a list of scenarios to study on my own.
There were a few inaccuracies. They are pretty sure they located Anne Boleyn's remains. They found two headless female corpses around the area where Catherine Howard and Anne Boleyn were supposed to be. There aren't very many bodies buried there, and there aren't any other people who would be buried there who match the descriptions. Henry VIII choosing his son over his older daughters wasn't a departure. There had been many princesses older than their brothers and they were never given the throne. What was a slight departure was Edward VI's will where he skipped over his "illegitimate" sisters and choosing Lady Jane Grey his cousin instead hoping to preserve the country from Mary's Catholicism as Edward was a very ardent Protestant.

Most likely yes. The 3 most likely possibilities in my opinion is that they simply married into the various tribes until there were no members of the original colony left or they were indeed disposed of by the native american tribes living in that area. Truthfully I'm inclined to believe that it was likely a bit of both as there were some tribes who did make attempts at peaceful coexistence more so than some of the others, so some of the colonists would have been lucky enough to marry into those tribes while others not so much.

Just a friendly correction: Edward V, and his brother Richard weren’t in the Tudors’ reign. They were in the House of York. The House of York ruled from 1461-1485, while The Tudors ruled from 1485-1603.
If Thomas More was trying to curry favor with Henry VIII by saying Richard III did away with the princes in the tower, it didn't do him any good in the end.

Although it's more likely that either Richard III or Henry 7th would have had them killed, I do think it's a possibility that the two Princes could have died from illness. Two different people. Cranmer was the one who was responsible officially for the anullment of Henry VII's marriage to Catherine of Aragon. This is why Mary Tudor had him burned at the stake even though he recanted his religious beliefs. He was the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1533 to 1556. During roughly the same time T. Cromwell was one of Henry's chief advisors and I wanna say that Henry had him executed after he screwed up on the marriage to Anne of Cleves, but please don't quote me on that without checking on it cause I could be wrong. He's also distantly related to Oliver Cromwell from the Stuart dynasty.

If the princes had died of natural causes, that fact would have been made public to allay any fears of the murder that almost certainly occurred.

Anne Bolyne's remains have been found when a renovation of the Chapel of St. Peter Ad Vicular was carried out, when bones found in a shallow grave under a section of floor which had subsided had among them the bones of the neck, which showed the person had a dainty neck, which was part of the speech given by Anne Bolyne at her beheading. Catherine Howard's remains have never been found because when she was buried in the Chapel, Quick Lyme was added to the grave to desolve her bones, so no trace was ever going to be found. It was not Catherine Howard who was buried along side of Anne Bolyne, but her Brother George Bolyne, which was another pointer to the grave next to his was of Anne Bolyne. The Princes in the Tower may not have been killed, especially not by Richard III, as he was in York at the time of their disappearance. The skeletons found under the staircase have never been identified as the two Brothers, and when Richard III's Skeleton was found in the car park in Leicester, an application to test the DNA against the skeletons in Westminster Abbey was made, which would have proved whether they were the Brothers, as they would have matched DNA Markers for Plantagenet with Richard III's Skelton, but the Crown refused to allow the remains in the Urn in Westminster Abbey to be opened for testing.

By definition the Princes in the Tower wasn't during the 'Tudor Era'. Richard III allegedly murdered them to secure his position on the throne in 1483. He was the last Plantagenet King, becoming king in 1483 also. He was usurped by Henry VI in 1485, which started the Tudor period that lasted until Elizabeth I died in 1603. 1485 is also considered to be the end of medieval Britain and the beginning of Early Modern Britain. Historian's don't tend to call it the 'Tudor' period but the Early Modern and it lasts up until the agrarian revolution or beginning of the Industrial Revolution which started c.1780. Just saying...

The Princes in the Tower, were brothers. The elder being Edward who was Edward V for a very short time and his younger brother Richard. It's not their deaths as such its because their is no evidence of their murder and they dissappear without a trace plus Richard III was not the only one to gain from their disappearance. On top of all that the tale is that young Richard was switched with a common lad before the brothers were taken to the Tower. Most family murder are clear cut, pardon the pun, but there is still so much we don't know and probably never will.
