There are 2 parts of this movie that brings tears to my eyes every single time. 1. The line “I need to prove that I wasn’t a mistake” and 2. Rocky struggling to get up the stairs at the end. I grew up on Rocky and seeing him struggle on those same stairs just broke my heart.

Rocky is 74 brah... Just the fact that he's still alive is a miracle. Lost an eye in Rocky 2, brain damage in Rocky 4, and brain tumor in Rocky 5...but like Deadpool, he heals up by this movie and only has Father Time to fight now. He's beaten every obstacle in his career. Drago was right....he ain't human

Fun fact. Stallone is the same age in this movie that Burgess Meredith (Micky) was in the first Rocky. Stallone loved doing these movies. Unlike the previous movies where he was writing, directing, and starring. In this movie he didn't have to get into shape he just had to show up and play Rocky. And Ryan Coogler let him change his lines to more properly fit the way Rocky talks.

Pound for Pound refers to a fighter's skill regardless of weight. So to be Pound for Pound (PfP) #1 that means regardless of weight class you're the best fighter. You could be 125 lbs and be the PfP #1. This is based off of several things including skills/stats, level of opponent, and record.

"He's so flabby!" Funny thing is the guy who plays Ricky Conlan (Tony Bellew) is actually a professional boxer with a very accomplished record. I find that unlike in movies, real fighters don't always have physiques of underwear models or actors who play superheroes. I don't think having low body fat is that important for being able to fight well. Not that I have any personal knowledge... Anyway enjoyed the reaction to very good movie.

You're correct...having a lower body fat percentage i.e. ripped body actually will drain down your energy faster in a real long drawn out boxing match. This is called dehydration. You might look good in photos but this is detrimental to your health and causes many boxers and UFC fighters to get hurt badly

Apollo’s affair was part of the same mid-life crisis that he was going through that convinced him to fight Drago when he was past his prime. Mary Ann understood that, knowing that the affair was a one-time thing that Apollo did while questioning himself, and so was truly just a mistake. Her taking in Adonis was as much a show of her forgiving Apollo for it was it was an act of love, and a way of having the last part of Apollo that was alive in her life.

Creed was co-written and directed by Ryan Coogler, who's more famously known for Fruitvale Station (based off a true story), Black Panther, and Wakanda Forever. And Grant boxing gloves are legit, custom made gloves. You have to email them directly to even get a pair made. Most of the boxers in this movie are also real fighters. Danny Wheeler being the most famous, as he is played by Andre Ward.

I wish they would have made what Stallone wrote in the screenplay for "Rocky IV" canon: Rocky and Apollo hit each other (that we see)... and that's it. They both decide beating each other up is bullshit and stop fighting right then. Walking about of the gym, Rocky says, "Apollo, did you have a brick in your glove?" Apollo laughs and replies, "Stallion, I was about to ask you the same thing."

The spinoff that nobody saw coming. Very much on par with the first and last Rocky films. I knew that Apollo had a couple kids (boy and girl) that were in Rocky 2. Pre-release, I thought that Adonis was one of those kids. But as the child that nobody knew about was a big surprise. Loved the writing and direction by Coogler. Great chorography for the fights. B. Jordan gives a great the best performance. Stallone never dissappoints as Rocky. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in this movie. The 2nd time he'd ever been nominated for the role and won the Golden Globe for it. Just like Rocky said in the previous film, It ain't over till it's over. Wait till you see part 2.

After a while there the Spectrum was going to be demolished for a new arena so the Art Museum agreed to take it back but it had to be down at the bottom of the stairs.

I’m not sure if the dirt bikes and 4 wheelers is a thing in other cities but it’s very common in Philadelphia and other PA cities.

Loving this spin-off series so far, can’t wait to see Creed III next month. Congrats on Sylvester Stallone’s Golden Globe win from this movie.

It's such a great collaboration of two filmmakers who truly love characters (people!) above any other shallow commercial consideration.

Also, I live in the neighborhood where they've shot all the local Philly scenes since the first movie. I perform and DJ at that club frequently. We were all excited when they were shooting the scenes for the movie there.

One of the things that I love about it was that he didn't win. By him not winning, Adonis maybe and it's a big maybe have quit and said yeah I did it I won. Sometimes, winning is always good. A lossing taught him more than if he won.

As a man who lost his father at age 7, and who has struggled his whole life with the anger from the loss, the scene where Adonis is shadowing Rocky while watching his fight with Apollo really hits home for me. He's fighting his father in that moment. I understand that scene so deeply.

Pound-for-pound is a theoretical measurement of a fighter's skill. It's basically saying that If he fought anyone at a comparable weight he'd win.

I had a Note 9 that decided to have a camera problem while I was in Philly. It was later fixed by a software update (mine wasn't the only one to have the issue), but the pictures taken of me and my wife by the people in line behind us were no good. I do have video of me running up the stairs though. Still mad at Samsung though. 😂

Ryan Coogler came up with the idea and wrote and directed this. this was the only movie Stallone didn't write (Creed 3 also but originally this was the only one he didn't write, He wrote Creed 2) Originally Stallone said NO when Coogler came to him with the idea but after he saw Fruitville Station which was written & directed by Coogler and also starred B Jordan then he agreed to do it.

It’s “real”. They really did Max Baer dirty because they needed a villain. He was actually a super nice guy, by all accounts. Very accurate otherwise though and a great movie.

"Pound-for-pound" essentially means "all else equal" in terms of weight class. It's used to hypothetically compare fighters in different weight classes.

It was a term coined to acknowledge the skills of smaller boxers like Sugar Ray Robinson who in his time was clearly the most talented and modern looking boxer from a technical standpoint. This phrase gives smaller fights their props. For example Bruce Lee is a legend. But at 140 pounds could he really hurt a 225 pound Mike Tyson??

Pound for pound means if you took the size of the fighters (weight classes) out of the argument when deciding who's the best overall fighter.

The rocky franchise is so iconic Creed as a spin off franchise has gave it justice for not disrespecting it which is very hard to do.
