I love the detail the gouache adds to the watercolor beneath it. Really makes it pop. I've heard a lot about how toned paler can help you understand and formulate shadows and highlights a bit better in artwork. Will have to try that out for myself sometime! Great demon artwork. I love the detail.
Best tutorial on watercolor ever together with gurney ones, at least for my goals and purposes. Please keep at it I m INSTANTLY a BIG fan of this.
I just discovered your KZread, thanks for filming your creations
Very well done.
The toned paper really makes the character pop off the page. I love this style! I've never done a watercolor underpainting with gouache. I am definitely going to do that!
You really need more subscribers man.

Yeaaaaah... *Sigh. That's totally my fault. I really don't push my YT enough. Busy busy with the day job, which is still all art at least. But I appreciate the vote of confidence! :D

@@DanieLand aw its alright i just saw your YT channel today, but already loving it. keep up the good work tho!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. The layering process was awesome! Great job.
Commenting to push the algorithm. Also, great video!
This was great. Thanks for sharing.
Just as I bought a toned paper sketchbook for gouache practice, you come out with a video doing exactly that. That you very much for the walk through. It's very helpful for me to see how other artists apply gouache and watercolor, especially as I'm struggling to learn on my own. Beautiful job on the painting and creature as well. I'm looking forward to future videos.
Love it!
Just starting out trying to use watercolor for my creature sketches, and this video was so helpful and fun to watch 😊 thank you for sharing

Oh awesome! So glad you found it useful. Watercolor and gouache are super fun to just play and improv with. I hope you enjoy them!
Amazing work, thanks for sharing
Gosh, this is amazing Daniel! I am blown away by this character creation and development! I am terrible at drawing things from scratch - I always work from a reference photo but you have amazing creativity and imagination. Keep up the incredible work, I've subscribed👍

this little artwork is absolutely beautifully made the way you just kept adding more layers made it looks very nice & realistic . my art teacher always saying “ coloring needs 1000 layers to make your artwork more vibrant “. i never understood what she meant until i saw this video WOW. nice job🫶🏻

My pleasure! I'm really trying to get back to doing more videos. Work has just been sooooo busy. But I'm glad you dig it!
Can I use this demon for my d&d game and make it statistics?

Sure! :D
No way I know exactly which reference you used for the sketch! I made almost the same sketch as that one too lol

I’d be curious to know what your ref was because I didn’t use any reference for this weird blue creature. I rarely use reference unless I’m designing or going for a very realistic look.
What is your watercolor set I really like it.

The pigments are from tubes that I squeeze into the pans. The pans I got from Amazon (watercolor pans), and the tin is an old Schmincke watercolor tin, but you can also get versions of these online. Look for watercolor tins, or watercolor travel palettes. Super handy for putting your own color palette together.
