Magnificent!! The lake is much smaller than it was in 1953 so finding exact spots would be very difficult. BTW, this is the same lake that was used in the opening scene and several episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. The ranger hut was used in the episode when Andy got arrested for fishing without a license.
Excellent detective work as usual, Michael! You will ALWAYS be the Indiana Jones of finding ANY location! Much respect. Happy Halloween 🎃🖤💀

Lol. Thank you Bob. Your love and support…and comedy means a lot to us.
One thing I absolutely love about your channel is you open up a new generation to want to see classic movies like creature. I’ve bonded more with my kid teaching him about the classics, and it started with your videos, so thank you and Jessica for bringing my bond with my son closer together

@@grimmlifecollective I can definitely tell how passionate you are about doing what you do.
I remember my mother buying my sister and I 3-D eyeglasses and we watched the Creature from the Black Lagoon in 3-d on a Boston channel. Must have been the early 1980s. Good memories.
Thank you for posting this video. It helped me discover why an internet article claiming that the Creature movie was filmed here was indeed incorrect.
i was born in '53 when the photos were taken. love your videos Michael, keep up the good work
I saw this movie when it came to the theater in Tarentum, PA. 22 miles north of the burgh. It was either 54 or 55. I was 8 or 9. Probably at the Manos or Harris theater. I remember sitting thru it 3 times till mom came in looking for me. I fell in love with Julie Adams. The musical score was haunting when the creature appeared. One of my all time favorite movies!!!! Thanks for the visit to the actual location, younze did good!
So cool. My mother was Betty (Julie) Adams' locker mate through high school at Little Rock High School, graduating class of 1944. ( It's now called Central Highschool). Betty's mother was a hair dresser and Betty was very sweet and reserved, Mom always recalled. They remained pen pals throughout the 1950s, and then lost touch with each other. What I would give if Mom had saved those letters. As always, awesome vlog ☮️
Ricou Browning (the stuntman who played the creature) went on to be part of the production crew of Lloyd Bridges "Sea Hunt" series as the underwater filming supervisor. He also wrote and directed episodes of "Flipper" and "Primus."

IMDB has him listed as still alive, born in 1930.
It’s really amazing that you’re putting in the effort to re-create movie locations from people’s childhood! Since a lot of us that will never have the opportunity to travel. Thank you for your time and effort. 😇
The Creature is outstanding, one of my absolute favorites since childhood. A lovely idea to pursue that photo location.
You GriMMs did it again!.... the Creature is one of the Atomic Area's BEST Universal Monsters.... Love him so... almost as much as Dracula's Bela Lugosi..... Thanks, for another GREAT episode, GriMMs..... :^)"""""""""
Getting to walk with you and Jessica through history - film history, true crime history - is such a joy! We covet the little nuggets you leave from your tireless, endless super sleuthing skills, like breadcrumbs on a trail. I'm an info junkie - I can't get enough on certain topics, and I'm beyond relieved there are at least 2 more people out there just as passionate (cough-OCD?-cough) as I am!
Great video. You should look for the spot where they filmed the opening scenes for The Andy Griffith Show, plus other locations they filmed. That area was heavily used by the show. Also, if you want a tip, go to Yuma, Arizona to where they filmed Jabba's Sail Barge scene and take a metal detector and a shovel because people are still finding parts of the set.
Thankyou for taking us on these amazing travels into the past. Your enthusiasm is catchy, and I love your theme song.

Thank you Randall.
Honestly, much much respect for the creature's actor. Swimming in that costume must have been really hard but he did a great job.

Gotta love the old classics. Great video!!!✌️
The Creature is my all-time favorite Movie Monster so thanks for doing this, awesome job brother. 😎👍
I find this movie was ahead of its time.....to create a creature that breathes under water like it did, the underwater gear that must have been needed to be a part of the creature outfit without the audience noticing it....WELL DONE! Your detective work to support and to back up your locations and stories is always impressive....it shows your passion and dedication to the work you do, and for fans such as myself, this is why we so enjoy your videos/stories so much. You help bring history back alive

Ricou Browning used NO underwater breathing gear. He could hold his breath for 4 minutes or more and was a champion swimmer~

@@KiltedCreatureWNC he's lucky he never experienced shallow water blackout...that's likely what got Dennis Wilson, it can happen to anyone who holds their breath underwater for awhile even experienced swimmers.

A movie with the creature from the black lagoon and Julie Adams was destined to be a hit
Really really cool video! I've always loved those color pictures but I always assumed they were taken on a set at Universal. Groovy!
Gorgeous landscape.
We were there in 2012 for Andy Griffith spots and the water levels are much lower than the 50's and 60's during Andy. That path and picnic table are the path if you came from the parking area. This is wonderful! Love the color creature promo pics, too!
Fun Fact... Ginger Stanley who is 91yrs old this year was the underwater stunt double for both lead actresses in the film and the first of its two sequels that followed. Well known for her aquatic work in photos-film etc. she often worked at water attractions and was as runway model as well when not splashing around. She even doubled for Esther Williams once because she had an ear drum problem and was inducted into the Mermaid Hall of Fame that remembers many who once made a living that way. Her underwater modeling work is quite etheral and skilled since letting the water clear while posing especially from bubbles meant minutes not seconds holding her breath. Indeed the actor who played the underwater creature in the first films recounted he could easily hold his for 4 or more as long as not needing to move much but only for 2min if a fight scene was on before needing air.
I never get tired of watching you and baby ghoul videos.. love you guys and what you do. Thank u
Love these little quests that you record for us! Thank you for researching and rediscovering some of this long forgotten media that we love! ❤
I appreciate your showing the photo match ups! Since I watched your HH Holmes and Black Dahlia, I am hooked. You give Extra care to bring us in! 🙂
Matching the past to the present is one of my favourite things that you do.
Thank you for taking us to these historical places. Love it!
i just saw this movie two days ago. Can't believe I held out on it. Thanks for your hard work in educating viewers.
I remember as a little girl about 10-11. They had a old movie showing at a theater. The one was... Creature from the black lagoon. Well, during a scene.. a lady behind my dad and I tapped me on my shoulder. And I jumped and screemed. My dad laughed Soo hard. What I later found out was. She was trying to get my attention to be quiet during the movie😳 guess I was talking to much 😂. Just a little story. Loved the video. ❤️🎃🦇
This is simply Monster Kid Gold!!!
Looks terrific as always...LOVE IT! Happy Near New Year Michael and Jessica! From your fans both living and 'the not-so-much crowd' here at #TheOmanHouse.
By far my favorite movie creature and creature movie. Would love to see a remake of the movie.
Love the work you put into this one. The Gill-Man is my favorite monster, so I always enjoy anything related to him.
Awesome movie and to see the locations super fun.
Great video, Michael! Thanks. Those old monster movies are cinematic gold.
I love the t-shirt. Joy Division is one of my favorite bands.
This is still my all time favourite horror movie!! I have an original creature from the black lagoon movie poster and doll and a few lobby cards and an exact replica of the creature hand on a stand I had made, it’s beautiful!! I also met Rico Browning! So cool👍
The way you do these types of location locating videos is really cool, I was born in 1963 so seeing this movie some years after it was produced I can remember this movie being very scary to me. Keep up the great job...
I almost freaked out I thought you guys were at silver springs in Ocala Florida where a lot of the movie was shot! I grew up and lived in Ocala. also, fun fact one of the wetsuit creature costumes is at the park and they have it on display!
I love your video's and i love it when you show pictures from a old movie and show it with what it looks like today and tell us the history on it you guy's are the best and thnk you for all of your hard work and stay safe out there
So much fun! Well done detective work Michael!
i love time traveling with you!! your adventures bring specific Feelings and energy. thanx for sharing such a unique LA scene 👀 💜
Man that's awesome!!!! The creature from the Black lagoon is one of my all-time favorite movies. I loved your other videos you did on the subject. I think it's wonderful that the grimmlife brings back movie making magic history. Another great video thanks for taking us on the adventure.
I just love it when you go to such obscure places and remind us of the great classics! Thanks Michael what fun! Happy Halloween 🎃🖤🧡
Micheal amazing video!! Maybe it’s just me, but when Im looking at the water and trees, it looks otherworldly, like time has stood still from the 40s, 50’s, enchanted almost! ❤🙏🏽🎃👍
Thank you so much! The Gill Man is my favorite.
Dude do you walk or hover o errands the ground!? Either that or how on earth do you manage to have the camera so dang steady as you move!? It doesn't wobble with your steps or move up and down, that's a PHENOMENAL job! 👍
One of my favorite movies.
This has me thinking of scenes from John Carpenter's/Stephen King's Christine, like if the junk yard where Christine is "left to rest" can be found? And the house that Arnie lived at? Very nice work lining up the mountain.
This is awesome. This is only about 37 minutes from my house. It’s amazing how much has been filmed out here in this little location of Micanopy Florida Doc Hollywood jeepers creepers creature from the Black Lagoon. The list goes on and on it’s really cool seeing it through your eyes on video tape also it being recorded and catalogued which is awesome. Unfortunately, the gymnasium for jeepers creepers was tore down recently so that’s no longer around. Good thing you get a video of it when you did. Even though this is the promotional shots of the video it’s pretty cool to know that the movie was shot in Florida as well.
The creature is my favorite. I'll be 71 in March. You just made me feel so much older. Lol. Thanks kid.❤️❤️
Those r actually the only colour photos of the creature suit from that time! Beautiful
My all time favorite Universal Monster❤❤❤
Great channel! Always live watching. Just awesome.
Love your match-up videos, so much! Kudos, Michael the Grimm! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great content once again and love the T-shirt takes me back to my youth
As a Universal monster-loving, vintage obsessed photographer who re-creates old photographs, this was right up my alley. So very cool, thanks for showing this spot!
oh michael and jessica i love this film one of my fav monster flicks well done to u both happy halloween
Wow, this movie was made SEVENTY years ago! Here I am, born just a decade & a half after. Jeez I'm gettin old...
Awesome 👏🏼
That movie scared the daylights out of me, I was 9 years old and to this day( I’m 77) I still remember how it made me feel!
Awesome job Mike! You matched the shots perfectly! Those shots were very hard to capture.
Thanks for video and all you do! So beautiful there.
Looks like so much fun retracing the very locations for the publicity photos. Thank you for all your work.
Beautiful photos from LIFE magazine from back then. I sat down and watched The Creature from the Black Lagoon back in October for the first time. It was the only Universal monster movie that I hadn't seen. Love the video and the Joy Division T-shirt! Happy Halloween!
Every time I see props of the creature from the black lagoon, he’s always dressed up like he’s having a great time! 😂Thanx for the video , once again!🖤💚 Happy Halloween! HOLY FISH!
Thank you, very cool and interesting. Being a creature fan and history buff, that was right up my alley. Take care and stay scared,
Another amazing video Michael and Jessica! Always wanted to see what that area looked like.
Always intresting to follow those adventures. Thanks!
the Andy Griffith show also used that area for the famous whistling opening credits scene, and you really don't have to take us exactly to the spots, just being in that area is good enough, a lot of shows were filmed in that area.
absolutely AMAZING! I love all of your videos but this was one of my favorite as far as iconic film history! Thank you for all your hard work and time in getting this content to us!
Hair is looking epic mate. Can’t wait to see it properly long.

Nicely done Michael! That’s crazy the lake looks so different in 1953 and 2022. My Grandpa loves The Creature from Black Lagoon, so thank you for sharing another Grimm Life adventure Michael. Love to see more of your creativity’s.🖤💚❤💀🎃
I would never think to try to find a location where a photograph was taken. This is something I hope I can do someday.
Once again, nice job. I also love all those old Universal "monster" films. Creature from the Black Lagoon was always a favorite. Never seen those promo shots before now. Very cool. Keep up the good work!
Always fun to watch ur episodes..and u and Jessica are very cute together❤️
Thank you for sharing and doing walks and lineups I’d love to do, but never be able. Love horror history. Halloween always. ❤️🦇🏴
Michael I love what you and “Baby Ghoul “do. Lol I wondered if you have ever done or are considering finding the locations where 1977s “The Car” was filmed one of the 70s best horror movies only in my opinion thanks!

Twin Peaks season 1 shot a lot of the Seattle scenes in Franklyn Canyon including the entrance to the black lodge and the Owl pipe which is still there btw.
Thank you for doing this the creature from the Black lagoon was always my favorite I don't know why I remember as a kid I had all the models of all the monsters but he was the one I always put in the front of every cuz he was my favorite I even watched the same movie over and over again and I don't like watching movies once I've seen them but my childhood was all the monsters and my favorite the creature from the Black lagoon thank you so much for doing this video ✝️🛐♾️♥️ LOL
I’m just about 60 years old …..and without shame I say The Creature as a kid scared the crap outta me ,first time i seen it was with my Dad in 60’s ,,,, sometimes still scary ,I’m sure its just psychological.
These are my favourite videos you guys do. Now and then comparisons. Super cool to see the changes.
Would love to see a creature remake
