Creative Lighting for your Backgrounds Using MagMod Products

Are bored of shooting plain-colored backdrops in your home or studio?? Are you looking for creative ways to add extra flavor to your images on-location? If your answer is yes then you might want to consider the creative possibilities that MagMod offers with their various products. In this video, I put a fun twist on showcasing some of the different MagMasks sold by MagMod. To create similar looks, you will at a minimum need a MagBeam, MagGrip and MagMasks in order to project the patterns. If you'd like to add color as well, then just add in some MagGels. The possibilities are only limited by your own imagination. Wow your clients and stand out from your competition....or....just settle for blending in with all the rest.

Amazing video! It's impressive to see the magbeam not spill any light on you. It's also cool to see how it's light projection appears to be "straight on axis" to the background, even tho the flash is positioned off to the side of you. In other words, if I was looking at this photo I would have assumed you'd need to put the magbeam directly behind somebody for the background projection to look "normal" and to too distorted by an off axis angle. But after looking at the images you made here, it seems you can position the magbeam off axis with no real issue. Do you happen to know why that is? Thanks!

Thank you so much for the comment and compliment. I agree, in the beginning, I thought it had to be placed directly behind the subject so that the pattern would appear properly but turns out that the best place to have it placed is usually off to the side. That is a credit to the folks over at MagMod who have really put a lot of thought and research into their products.
Which light had the gels and masks on it? Are you using Imaging Edge to remotely control your camera to take the photo?

Yes! Imaging Edge mobile allowed me to remotely control the camera. It's a lifesaver for things like this. The masks and gel's were always on the eVOLV200 placed off to camera left and behind me (aimed at background). Thanks for the comment and for viewing!

@@JesseRinkaPhotography Thank you Jesse, so glad I saw your video. My Imaging Edge App connected to the Sony A9 and quite impressive I must say. I like it for selfies! I used the gels and masks on a FP Flash, with a MagBeam with the Tele lens which did not work with the masks, but I will be buying the wide angle lens today and know it will work. You really made my day with all the info you shared. TU again.
