Creative Ideas for Fabric Panels | #1 Strip Window Method | Southwest Themed
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this series, I will be trying out different and creative ideas for those beautiful fabric panels. Pull out panels from your fabric stash and create a beautiful quilt project today!
How I made this project (basic measurements)
Using a panel without white edges that measures 28” x 44”
Cut 2 - 4 3/4” strips from right and left sides of panel leaving a larger middle section as a feature
Add a 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” square of background to top of outermost strips and then cut out a 3” section out of panel strip and reattach.
Add a 2 1/2” x 3 1/2” rectangle of background to top of the next strip and then cut out a 2” section out of panel strip and reattach.
Add 3 1/2” background strips between all panel strips and around all 4 sides
Add a 1 1/2” border on all 4 sides
Add a 3” border on all 4 sides.
Baste, Quilt, and Bind.

Your final quilt is much more beautiful than the original panel. Thank you for sharing the whole process.
This is gorgeous. I would have never thought of cutting it like this. I love your free motion design. Kind of looks like clouds. You are a fabulous teacher. Thank you for the gift of your time. I adore your hair.❤️🙏🏻💐
I was glad you used the leftover fabric in the back!
It looks really cool. The quilting feels like it echos the mountains in the background
Hi Sheri. I love that your showing different options to use on a panel. Thinking out of the box. Love it. And the waves on your panel give it another looking texture. Thank you so much. I appreciate all that you do...as well keeping things interesting and we are learning at the same time. Hugs to u
Love, love, love this! I fell off the No Buy Bus last night, the brothers had a kit I couldn’t resist. It’s the fox fabric in the blue color way. Be still my heart!
Oh my gosh the panel turned out great!!!! Thanks for showing us how to do this!!!!
Such good instructions. A beautiful quilt! I am going to enjoy these 4 examples in this series.
Love the design you used on this panel. It suits the scenery very well. Thanks for this method. 😊
I have avoided buying panels in the past, no matter how much I liked them, because I didn't really know what to do with them. Now I do!! I love the stepped effect you created. I'm looking forwards to the next Wednesday Panel Show 😊
Looks beautiful! Thank you for showing us the process you used to design this panel quilt.
I love it! I wouldn’t have thought of breaking the panel into strips. ❤thank you for sharing this gorgeous project
It turned out beautiful. What a creative way of changing the design of the panel.
Absolutely beautiful! Your creative talent is well displayed in this quilt. Thanks for sharing this step by step tutorial.
Omgosh 😳 Your Panel quilt looks AMAZING!! The FMQ you did, looks exactly like WIND and it’s PURE AWESOMENESS!! 🎉🎉🎉 I LOVE THIS QUILT!! ❤❤❤ Fantastic work! 🎉❤
I appreciate seeing your steps for planning and calculating as you worked through this project. I have 3 panels in my stash and am now inspired to work with them to completion. Thanks😊
Sheri , I never seen the vertical piecing before just the attic windows. But your really nailed it on this panel! I would like to be the proud owner of this one, even though I don't really care for the southwest style....😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Beautiful! You are so creative. Thanks for providing this video.
Great information. I've seen this done but had never taken the time to figure it out. My little group of ladies have lots of panels so I hope to use some of these ideas for them. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week
Oh my Sherri , this is fabulous !!😊
This came our beautiful. Enjoyed seeing it from beginning to end. Haven’t gotten on the panel band wagon yet. Maybe this series will inspire me.
Thank you. I love that you are showing us your process. I also have a Jazz 2, so I really liked that you quilted it as well.
It turned out great. I love the offset sections. Thank you for sharing the process. ❤❤❤
It turned out so nice! I’ve never been too interested in panels but you are giving me some great ideas and I can’t wait to see what next week brings!
Very beautiful quilt I love your colors thanks for sharing. God bless you and your family have a blessed weekend.
I LOVE panels. have not made a single thing with them... but apparently, I need all 😅😅😅
Beautiful panel quilt
Great job showing us how you worked this one out. Thanks Sheri!
Turned out beautiful! 🎉 Thank you for another great lesson! ❤
I was unsure of your vision as you were discussing it, I wasn’t sure I was seeing it, but I really love the final effect it’s great. It’s amazing how a bit of fin-angling can change a panel and take it from ok to superb 🌼🦋
Very nice, I like the way you stair stepped the top. Why oh why am I so attracted to panels. I have recently made a small quilt using a panel. Quilt math is hard 😂
Looks great! Thanks for taking us through the process.
Wow that really turned out nice. At first I wasn't sure what you were doing, but as you went along and added each border I was liking it more and more. We have a panel challenge going on in my guild, I wasn't planning on participating, now I've changed my mind . It's due to be done by our December meeting. Can't wait to see next week's ideas are. Thanks for the inspiration.
That turned out great!
Lve this different from the usual window frame.💕
The panel turned out beautifully ❤
Clever idea! It’s like your are looking through vertical blinds. I just finished a gnome panel and put borders on it. One border was scrappy trees and that was fun! ❤️👋
What a great project! Thanks for a neat idea of using panels, which I also have many in my stash.
Great idea. Donna Jordan, Jordan Fabrics, has a similar panel idea. I have fabric selected for cutting with my panel. Now to get started. Have a great week.

Me too!!
That came out really pretty! I never would have thought to cut the panel lengthwise. Just as an aside, since we have the same machine: I just FMQ a small project with glide 40 wt thread and a size 16 needle and I didn’t have to crank my tension up to 9. Left it at 4 and came out nice.

I turned the screw on my bobbin case 1/4 turn and I no longer have to crank up the tension.

@@lessonslearnt5966 that’s a good bit of info to know. Thanks for sharing! 🤗
It looks cool!❤
When I use the wave , I do half one way and the the second half the other way and it doesn’t pucker.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! It was very helpful seeing and hearing your thought processes! I could not find the dimensions in your description. I was wondering about the final dimensions. The panel was pretty in the beginning, but you made it into a gorgeous quilt! I love it! Thank you so much!

I was a little late getting those in. They should be there now 😉
After watching this I don't think I'll be able to not buy panels from SewYeah on Thursday. P.S. Exceptional outer border fabric.
