The confused part of this illustration is to know whether the feeder should be left open or closed. Should the tank be emptied at intervals for a new cycle or there's no need. Thanks for your wonderful efforts.

75% of drum should be filled with slurry. Each day you have to add 1 or 2 buckets of slurry and remove the same amount daily. After 7 or 10 days you can use regularly. The amount of usage depends on the size of the drum and availability of the dung.

Tip if you add fruit cuttings that would be thrown away in the container with the cow dung you would double your gas output. also, I suspect your gas outlet pipe is leaking from the tank fitting, that hot snot looks like it came loose. For a large system like that it should have produced much more than just one tyre full.

Im no scientist or chemist but I believe most of the solid waste will break down but if not, flushing it with water from top would allow it to escape the bottom valve he set up. Mixing it seems important to help break it down. I think the gasses tend to be heavier than air but as well, correct me if im wrong, the tire tube is storing gas too? And causing a pressure? I believe you could use anything that breaks down and decomposes. Producing gasses.

I like the innovation in using readily available materials to build this simple digester. However, I'd like to see this creativity spent on greener solution that is better for the planet. Burning methane increases greenhouse gasses. Why not use aerobic composting to grow food? This keeps most of the carbon sequestered in the soil vs. burning methane. For a free heat source use solar energy. In fact with many of these same components one could make a solar collector to heat water or a solar oven to cook food. I agree this idea is easy and fascinating and it caught my attention as as Engineer so I decided to do more research on the topic before building one in my backyard. Unfortunately biogas production is not good for people or the earth. It saddens me when it is promoted that way. Please do you're own research on GHG emissions before promoting biogas digesters. In the end I decided not to build one and focus on greener solutions. With solar energy I can heat and cool my house, cook my food, and charge my car. Food scraps go to the garden composter and helps us grow many tasty vegetables.

Most biodigestors release slurry when it is fully decomposed. Therefore, biodigestors create gas and compost at the same time.

The disadvantage happens when the inlet of the materials has been set on top of a tank, but if the inlet is deep to the bottom of a tank, you can tap gas from that tank minding that a ventilator pipe is closed.

You can use a 400 liter tank. However, if the size of the tank is more, it will be possible to increase gas production.
