    Correction to make at 20:04 The Juno 106 actually used a different filter chip, so it did change. The chip used in the Juno 60 (as well as the Jupiter 8) was the IR3109, but in the Juno 106 they used a 80017A instead. This is the main difference in sound and explains why people tend to like the sound of the 60 more.

    It’s really not a big deal. People with ns10 always have other speakers with better frequency response. They are just used for mid range and reference.

  • @SeriousTipStudio

    @SeriousTipStudio

    2 жыл бұрын

    The mix is much better on NS10. You need to have either a sub with them or other speakers to play the song on to get the low end. I have the power Yamaha 2006 with a sub. I think the sub helps with the mid-range and the fatigue on the ears. But having your mix sound good on everything you play it on is the reason why so many people still use Yamaha speakers. And if they really didn't work why would another company come out with something similar to them. Avantone CLA10-AVANTONE Be each to it own, whatever works for a person is all the matter. 😁

Together I really like that sound and anything played through those sets of speakers together sounds really good. A bit unorthadox but it works for me

    "You shouldn't need 8 plugins to make something sound good"... Well guess what OLAFUR... maybe a producer doesn't have two custom LA2A's or a 1178 to run audio through on the way in... I love having gear just like the rest, especially synths and amps. But as much as I love using my Odyssey, Minilogue XD or whatever... many times RetroSynth in the box is what works... Use wtf ever makes THE sound... simple. If a person knows HOW to use THE RIGHT plugins just like you know how to use your hardware then guess what... it's going to be a dope ass record either way. Biggest difference will be the electric bill, cost of gear and floor space. This is why listening to artists talking bout their process is painful. What works for one may not work for 1,000 others. Just know your gear.

    I like him, but I feel like there's also a very privileged point of view if you can say "Well, I can afford paying $3000 on a sweet ass modular system, so I'm just going to go out and buy it". Not all of us can. Actually, most of us can't. It must be nice to do that whenever you can. Fuck people who think like that. If I want an ImpOSCar synth, I can either pay $179 for a software version or $4600 for a used synth. What do you think I'm going to pay for? Honestly, If you're going to haggle over the differences between a hardware and software version of a synth and which one is superior, you're not a musician, you're a whiner. A true musician will work with what they have. End of Story.

  • @IUsedToBeAPygmy

    +funkyjawa "a true musician will work with what they have". He does this for a living. It's not a hobby to him. Which means that his budget is slightly different from the average hobbyists budget, thus allowing him more choice on what to buy. So then when he buys a $4000 synth, yes, he'll work with what he has. A $4000 synth. Besides, he is just explaining his own creative process and preference. He doesn't say anywhere that YOU are not allowed a different opinion or preference for *your* workflow.

    His entire philosophy is based around limiting his options. Hardware is inherently limited, so it's perfect for him. Did you not hear him say that he started with softsynths and plugins back when he was younger? Or that his first synth was a shitty Access Virus? You have to start somewhere. He's had a massive amount of success as a musician, which means he can justify spending many thousands of dollars on synths (I don't even want to know how much that PS 3100 cost him).

    Yeah I have no idea why synthesist hobbyists have this notion about elitism surrounding synth purchases. Given what guitarists pay for the top of the line guitars especially the vintage guitars it makes $5-8,000 look like a mid range product. I mean the guy gets paid to do production, he wrote the score for Broadchurch and some of his music was used in the Hunger Games. Those gigs pay very decently. Frankly his studio is modest considering.
