Idea: Drizzle string gel circle onto plastic file folder. Let dry. Coat circle, including clear parts., with gel or fluid medium. Let dry, then pull up entire solid acrylic skin. Less fiddley, more doable? Can't wait for next week's collage!! 😊 Yay!!

You could also do the raised profile rose circles with hot glue on a piece of glass and spray paint, brush paint or colour with a Posca marker once they are dry . To remove from glass before painting them though just spray a bit of isopropyl alcohol on them and they will scrap off the glass in one piece with a razor blade knife.

Wow, so much experimentation! Great to see! If I was trying to get a similar effect to the original paper I would use pieces of string or wool, dip them in the light moulding paste, then drape it on the tissue paper to make the roses. Don't know if it would work, but that's what came to mind!

Froyle and Friends! Greetings from Hiram, Ohio, USA. I have been considering how to make similar to the papers that you purchase, so this is great to add. I have thought of using paper napkin layers that will sublimate more (in my opinion) into the background that I have chosen to build upon. I have considered making a paper clay and rolling some super thin and placing on/between sheets of tissue paper. Then, for my fiber arts, I have considered spinning my own fibers into a thinner format and coiling the subsequent string/yarn onto or between layers of napkin or tissue paper, Just sharing my own musings on the same type construction, Thanks for sharing your "Uh-oh"s, as well as successes. It helps me learn MORE and keeps me from feeling as if I am the least successful art-er in the world. Hugs~~

Mind officially blown!!!!! Head is spinning in the best possible way...... soooooooo much potential. Run around your shapes with your water brush for ease of tearing....... You mentioned fabric paint - how about using it on organza and then cut out using your knife tip on your wood burning tool, seals your edges and now all ready for clothing embellishments! For your decorating tool tips, use tape to create a finer nozzle but keep the integrity of the tip......... Use an embossing pen, emboss, on really thin cottons, apply inks or dyes and iron between papers (creating a secondary piece, pieces) voila' instant batik! Oh how you have unleashed the hounds!!!!!! And your laugh, your laugh lights up my screen, so rockin' thrilled to have you in my artful life..........🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋⭐🦋

In silkpainting you use "Gutta" for outlines, that makes nice structure on paper, too. If you ad babypowder to acrylic colors they turn out as 3d color. To create stand out peaces you can use wax pens, they are used to ddecorate candles, if you drwa on backing paper you can actually pull them off or wax sheeds you can use coockie cutters . The circle on baking paper might be great for stucture on the gelli plate?! The scribbelt ons looking like flowers to me.

Fabulous ideas for collage fodder! Thanks, Froyle. Froyle, I had to return and thank you for this great idea of playing with Shringy gel, (which I just ordered). I’ve thought about these little beauties off and on this afternoon and have decided to make this year’s holiday cards, using the fun stringy gel to make shapes. Can’t wait for the gel to arrive. Oh, the ideas of dangling stringy goo over tissue paper to make baubles, trees, ornaments….! I’m as giddy as I’ve heard you get with your laugh and chuckle. You are a delight and I’ve learned so much from you about collage and design. Thanks for all you put into your videos for us. The more I watch, the more I feel like I’m just hanging out with you. I look forward to more “hang outs,”. Where we can see you experiment and come up with such beautiful pieces.

You are brilliant and a hoot to watch. I learn so much from you. At the least I’m entertained. Regarding this vid, I’m thinking uncoated with matte medium allows the tissue to disintegrate when you add it to collage and it melts/ blends into the background. Coated with matte medium make it more of a focal piece because it stands away from the background as another layer.

Froyle you can easily make a pretty deckled edge around your textured circles if you dip a thinner brush in water and draw an edge to tear. It works beautifully on rice paper but tissue paper is good also. Just pull on the wet line, BOOM it pulls apart perfectly!

Froyle, I am so in love with your presentations, joie de vivre and damn the torpedoes attitude!!! You have so inspired me. I knew that I had come upon your technique for the rose, but was unable to find it....but....my OCD kicked in--never give up and Voila!!! There you were. Don't ever, ever stop. Need to share my Aha moment with you and anyone else interested. I came across a used dryer sheet--waste not want not-- that was on my garage floor. Aha, I said, I think this would be perfecto in a collage. And it is! After testing numerous ways to coat the sheet--it's very filmy and porous--I decided to roll the paint onto my gelli plate, put the sheet down, put paper on the top and roll it with my brayer, turn it over and roll again. I then used my handmade stamps to create patterns and also used a stencil. Fabulous! Sorry to be so windy, but this makes me a very happy kid again.

I don't know how you come up with such brilliant ideas! What a treasure trove of ideas and storage tips too! Your videos have inspired me so much! I've even started to weed through those scary tubs of hoarded memories - in a cosmic clash, my head and Iris Impressions came together in one idea! I'm going to make junk journals with important (to me) papers, some for me, some for my kids. I'll use full pages to make the signatures and then I'll cut out small pieces to make the decorations. That's my plan and it excites me. It is giving me the freedom to finally loosen my grasp on these memory boxes which have become, to be terribly honest, a burden to me and a hinderance to my creativity. I think I have made an important step - I can see it is more important to my creativity to hoard circles, than it is to hoard paper that will mean nothing in the future. I'm really looking forward to next week! You always leave me eager to see more. Thank you - and thank you for your Skillshare classes. I'm on that site now far more often than I was in the past! Hugs

I learned one thing: when you drizzle the paint onto the paper that’s been treated with the matte medium, the paint spreads out a bit wider than if you drizzle it onto dry tissue paper. So it holds its shape more on the dry paper. I’m thinking that it’s because of more friction on the dry paper vs. the more slippery surface of the matte medium. So I would make the circles on the dry tissue and let it dry.. After it is dry you can put it onto the paper with the matte medium.👌
