Creating employment opportunities for under-served youth | Arthur Langer | TEDxTeachersCollege

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. What does it mean to create lasting change for under-served populations? Arthur Langer reminds us that there’s a difference between being nice and bringing about systemic change.
Dr. Arthur Langer is the founder and chairman of Workforce Opportunity Services (WOS). Its simple mission is to create good citizens. WOS is founded on the concept that inner-city and rural low-income individuals can climb to higher levels of success if given a fair opportunity. Langer is also the academic director and faculty member of the Executive Masters in Technology Management at Columbia University. Langer’s current research focuses on the mentoring of adult learners and the design of technology-based curricula for corporations and universities.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
