As someone who has been practicing for a while but am still not content with where I am in my own portraiture I would love to see a video from you about angle of light and light placement. Hello Sean. Great video as usual. Just a quick question since idk when I'll be able to check it myself. If we use a gradient filter on a coloured photo, and then blend it for luminosity, will it work to bring up some contrast? I really liked what it did to the b&w image.

I am so appreciative for this entire series, because I really love photography but hate the post-editing process due to the software complexity that felt unnecesarily too elaborate and took away from my enjoyment of digital photography. So I really appreciate the clarity and simplicity in how you broke down the steps for a normal-person out there. Many thanks :)

I think he more so showed the tools he uses rather than going for a final image. In most cases youd probably work with masks etc. Turning down the reds for exampel did make the lips a bit to dark. Also, the eyes got a bit lost in the shadows. Two easy things to control with masks. Take your hands and cover the faces on the side by side, look at the hair, forehead, shirt and background. Do you still like the first one better? Maybe.
