Creating DETAILED Bird Photography - The World’s MOST COLOURFUL Kingfisher | Part Of The Flock Ep 2
Episode 2 of Part Of The Flock is all about creating detailed bird photography, to appreciate the magnificence of Natural Design.
It's about photographing the intricate patterns, textures and colours of the avian world. To demonstrate this, the Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher became the perfect subject of focus.
Not only is the ODKF the most colourful Kingfisher in the world, but it also happens to be one of the smallest of its kind. At a maximum of 14cm in length, including its bill and tail, it became extremely challenging to create a detailed close-up photograph. Further more, the unforgiving monsoons of Western India and the erratic lighting conditions that came along, made the output all the more tricky to achieve.
The final images are a result of 35 odd hours, spread across 7 days.
Thanks to Aishwarya Sridhar for being a part of this episode.
Special thanks to Accord Equips for sending me the Sony A7S III along with the 200-600mm super telephoto zoom lens. All slow motion footage was filmed in 4k 120fps.
Still photographs were captured on my Canon 5D IV using the 200-400mm f4l IS USM with the inbuilt 1.4x teleconverter.
Filmed in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra.

Glad you enjoyed the video, my friend. 😃
You are a true photographer who shares glimpses of nature and wildlife without making it disturbed, taking stunning videos and pictures.Keep it up 👍👍👍☺️
Awesome again , dearest Kenneth, the quiet, intense , devout watcher whose artistic creation sings :’ All things bright and beautiful/The Lord God made them all!’ Full of reverence for his ‘subject’ and its ‘sylvan setting ‘ , Ken rightly refuses to disclose his location , patiently makes multiple attempts spread over a whole week to lovingly capture and share our birdie’s incredibly colourful presence . One marvels at Nature’s amazing food chain where the avian parents knock fish, crabs and insects against hard surfaces, to render them harmlessly palatable for their little ones - all ideas of cruelty and compassion are relative and cast aside , for the only theme that prevails here is ‘parental nurture and care ‘! Loved your hushed narration , nestled in your hideout in John Keats ‘“melodious plot of beechen green and shadows numberless “! May your photographic skill keep scaling new heights, Ken , even as your whole being gets attuned to and absorbed in nature , bowing to the Creator’s divine artistry.
Fantastic! Congratulations. I'll wait for you in Turkey.

Wow! Such amazing photos and videos. Your dedication and hard work paid off and we got to enjoy one of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen. The person that gave thumbs down to this video, you should call your doctor and check to see if you are ok. I don't understand how a person can down vote an amazing experience like this.
All I can say is AMAZING
Hats off to you, Kenneth. 35 hours of shooting time alone for one less than a second shot. Add travel distance and effort... that is one hell of a commitment.

Shoot time wouldn't even be 2% of the 35 hours. Most of the time went jjust sitting and swatting away mosquitoes. 🤣

Wow, first time to see one of your videos. You are sooooo much more than a photographer, you are an artist--a storyteller. Your blend of exquisite music with the video was so appropriate--thanks for not choosing "head banger" stuff to accompany your shots. I have subscribed to your channel and can't wait to see more!

Brilliant documentary.. having gone through a same sort of exercise, i know how pleasing it is to finally get a full frame shot like that.
