Great design. I think the kitchen lay out should be rethought, having the fridge and tall unit housing the oven and microwave to the external wall and then having work surface running the remaining wall and return to give a more open feel. Painting the wood white would also help the room size increase with limited work. And a large mirror to help bounce natural light would be ideal in the bathroom.

I would love if I could see how you kept the garage door and storage you left. I am having a difficult time envisioning how we could preserve some space and the door but have a room bath a kitchenette and living room.

Hi Larita, we just left the door to the garage in place, and walled off 12' back. The bedroom is then behind that wall. You can email us from our owgarden.com blog and I would be happy to send you photos.

The challenge is going to be getting a washer and dryer through that small hallway

The apartment is about 400 sq feet total.

Why did you build it? What is the purpose of this studio apartment? You already built something similar in another building. And you built the small off grid cabin. Why all these living spaces in addition to your main cabin?

Concreat floor are very cold. Put wood or carpet on the floor.

Why not go all the way and tile/hardwood the floor? The bare floor makes the whole apartment look unfinished.
